Got back last night. Got off to an awful start but bounced back on some poker and NCAA bets to finish the trip only down a few hundred bucks. Made it pretty far in the Venetian 7:00 tourney, but got a bit low and busted out AJ vs KQ with 3 tables left (paid 13 spots). Never got around to calling Icon, was all over the place with all of the games, etc. Hope everyone that went had some decent luck......

24h 45m @ $220-$2500
what is this? you played craps at $220 a role for 24h and 45m and only lost $2500?
I'm guessing that's Blackjack. Just got back. I am absolutely beat. Hung w chet a bit on Friday Night (joined his table at Blush for a bit, then we split to play some blackjack. Played some 1/3 with Assani for a few hours at Wynn. Great guy. Killed a few rounds of shots and took a beating to the tune of a grand or so. Combination of drunken aggression and getting crap cards (flop 2 pair, guy turns the nuts, etc). It happens. Had a riot of a craps session Thursday night at Mandalay Bay. Got on the don't pass line for $10 and it hit 12 times in a row...and a total of 20 out of 25 times. Was playing max odds each time. Landed me a gold chip for my efforts. Joined Woz for a minute of some poker at PH but was hammered and dropped a bill or so. He was killing it (up several hundred from what I saw) :thumbup:Friday I Hung w my GFs good friend becky and some guy who was celebrating his 21st birthday. Did the Osheas thing.... great times thre. Blackjack, beer pong, and a little poker. Treaded water. Lines were sick in the AM at MB Sportsbook.... out the book, down the hall, then doubled back again. 45 minute wait. Oof. My first night I had booked a 750GR suite at MB and tipped the front desk girl a $20 and she bumped me to a great 1.5 Bath 2 Room suite at THEholel. Great room. Had a 750GR for the other two nights. Had the bone in ribeye at stripsteak Thursday night.. It was good but not the best I've had. I'd give it 2nd best ribeye and 4th overall.

Yep, Venetian/Palazzo betting tablet next time, or we might get lucky and more casinos will adopt them.

:goodposting: Dude you were ####### hysterical. Thought you may have had that guy on your bottom pair bluff (although if he's not in the hand I call and bust you haha with my AQ). Good times though. I wanted to meet up with you the next day but my stupid phone died. I did meet up with Keys for a nice 1-2 session at MGM but was so freaking dehydrated from drinking in the AM during basketball I felt like throwing up on the table. Still killed it though. Nice weekend for betting, went home up 1100. Wish the weather was like 5 degrees nicer though but there were some very pretty women at the pool, just too cold to stay and enjoy it.

Good times. Icon is a freaking blast so definitely hoping to meet up with him there some time. Keys was a good convo as always. FWIW I did my sports betting at Caesars and the lines were great. Ended up about +100 after getting down early by hitting both Cornell and Mich St. money line picks. Stupid Texas A and M busted my 4 team parlay that would have made it a really really nice weekend.

Watson, I'll be in Vegas again next weekend at the Red Rock. Likely not moving much from there though as the gf has the weekend planned out.

Where's Red Rock in relation to Flamingo? I don't mind going a little way to have a beer.
it's like a $50 cab ride, pretty far from the strip
Oof...Like I said, I don't mind going a little way but that may not work out too well for me.
I hear ya. I'll pm you for your number and shoot you a text if I head to the strip area. It certainly not worth it to head to Red Rock just to see me haha. The gf may want to do some shopping that Sunday and if so we'd probably head to the Forums at Caesars, the Venetian Shoppes, or Fashion Square by TI - all of which are an easy walk to Flamingo.

Got back yesterday. Great time.

We played in the $150 Mirage tournament on Friday night - $50 bounty on each player. $15 total goes to the house, so I don't think that's too bad.

Anyway, it pays 7 places - about 60 people entered. I got knocked out in 8th place with AQ against 44 :goodposting: I did get four bounties so I made 50 bucks out of the deal.

My buddy and I played in a $70 sit-n-go at the Mirage too, first place gets 420, 2nd gets 180. We got down to 3 people (me, my buddy, and one other guy) and we all decided to each take $200. We were both tired and a bit tipsy, so we figured we'd take the dough and run.

I got into blackjack switch a bit. I haven't figured out how bad the game is for the player, but it sure is fun. Actually won a couple hundred doing that.

After everything was said and done I broke even for the trip, including expenses. Good times. Didn't get to hook up with any FBGs (well, one that I know for real, but forget his screen name) but had a great time.

Another awesome trip to the strip!

Wish I woulda met up with some of you but with the crew I was with it was pretty non-stop since there were so many of us.

As soon as the three early arrivers got in on Thurs we cabbed over to Mandalay. Icon is right about the lines there. Unreal. I will say though, Mirage/Venetian/Harrahs sportsbook lines were VERY manageable all weekend...usually walk right up to cash/place bets. Harrah's would get a bit long at times, but nothing like Mandalay. Also disappointed at the drink service at Mandalay as they don't do drink tickets or anything like that anymore.

So, OF COURSE, I didn't bet on my alma mater OU, even though I said I was going to before the trip. Quite the opposite actually, I bet Georgetown. I was miserble watching that game. Then I sucker myself into the OU ML against Tennessee, albeit not for alot, but still I should of had it against Gtown. That about sums up my NCAA gambling Thurs-Sat. I won some bets here and there and a couple 2 teamers, but overall down on NCAA. Then on Sunday, something happened and I started ripping NCAA and NBA...and then UFC, which was awesome watching at the Venetian book as we started mad parlaying the favorites who all won.

For everything I lost on hoops, I won back at the tables (til Sunday night when I dropped the fastest $250 ever on BJ). I was rather even on the trip most of the time and ended up coming home with about half of what I went with, so pretty good imo when you factor in some of the drinking we did while not gambling (talk about ridiculus pricing) and cash for some of the food I ate.

Harrah's actually really suprised me overall and I'd stay there again on a budget trip with buddies. It wasn't flashy or whatever, but it wasn't a dump. You could ALWAYS get on a BJ or Craps table in the sportsbook, even when the games were on, and those tables never went above $15 minimums even on Saturday. I was quite shocked by all that. And I actually enjoyed my late night trips in there as it was more low key (most people probably don't even know they are in there) and a few of the dealers were legendary.

Rhumbar at Mirage was a sweet hangout early Saturday afternoon for about 4-5 hours. About half my group went there. Those bloody marys hit the spot and were only like $6. Some crazy Jayhawk drunks were so devastated lol. Mirage sportsbook is awesome...as well as the Venetian. A good thing about the Venetian is they were very good about drinks, even in La Scena (their viewing area). Just show them a betting slip and you're good...although they did mark them in La Scena, one drink per $10 bet, but we had so many bets and found so many slips in there that people left that we had too many.

Can anyone give me the rundown on what to wear in Vegas? Going today (Thurs) through Mon, weather in the 70s during day, 50 overnight.

I wore jeans everywhere with T-shirts during the day and button downs at night (9 Diamonds, BKE, etc)Be sure to bring some non-tennis shoes if you're planning on going to any clubs.

I leave in about 27 hours :excited: T-shirts and jeans mostly for me...
I've been working in LV this week - only thing I would be aware of is the wind. It has been pretty windy and they are expecting 30-40mph winds this weekend. At night it is a little on the cool side walking around.

Cool, Thanks for the advice. I'll be bringing some long-sleeve shirts as well, but someone will have to drag my ### away from the tables for me to care about the wind.

Pools in LV have been known to close for excessive winds.

I can imagine those umbrellas becoming a javelin in high winds.

Jeans and t-shirts during the day. It gets chilly out here at night so I'd recommend a light coat or thermal shirts to keep you warm if you're running up and down the strip. Unfortunately it seems like it'll be a bit chilly for the pool. Weather would have been perfect last weekend if it was about 5-8 degrees warmer.

Was at the M last 2 night playing craps...a pretty nice casino. It is way down south off I-15 at St. Rose.....very new inside. Waitresses are pretty top notch.

Speaking of the craps game ..... ever really hate someone without ever meeting them? A guys comes to the table right next to me and lays down 3K - and then proceeds to go the wrong way at 1,000 a crack - and goes to the DCB on subsequent throws with black chips and bumping odds. Never in my life have I sent bad vibes to someone like I did last night...effing guy calling out for 5-2 and 6-1. Well one guy gets on a nice hot roll and he gets destroyed - pulls out another 1K and then another 1K and another 1K...and he goes down in flames pretty fast. You could hear is breathing getting more forced and I wanted to laugh, usually at a craps table for me it's camaraderie in the roll that I like, this guy was no fun and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy- who I didn't even know. In the meantime I won $350. It was interesting though when that same hot guy came to roll again he started betting right with the table.

Will be there for about 12 hours as a stop on a road trip. Going to hit the tables hard and fast and maybe time for one outing with the group (wife and another couple). Staying at IP (location and cheap) but trying to figure out the best was to utilize our half day. Any suggestions? Unfortunately it's a Wed night/Thur we'll be there.

Venetian right next door, probably with doable table limits that night. Gondola ride there too for you and the wife...not sure how much that costs though.

Does this even run anymore? I'd do some cirque show or something like that. They can be $$$, but lots of deals out there.

Yeah, just saw them last weekend. Just an option that probably takes less time than a show and he's right there. Never done it though, but looks

Thinking of making reservations ay NY/NY at the end of the year for a few nights on our trip out west to CA. Anyone have experiences there? Rooms are cheap enough. Would get 2 rooms - one for me and wifey and one for my 3 teenagers. Would we be able to keep the teenagers occupied? It is likely that the outdoor pool would be open that time of year? Thanks.

I've stayed there twice, although it was like 7-10 years ago. Definitely in the discussion when you have a budget in mind. Not sure about the pool question. Good places to eat there imo (including an espn zone which could be something solid for the kids), a fun piano bar for some entertainment, and a roller coaster that I've never rode. I think Zumanity is still the show there, sorta strange but if you go, go a bit early (lol). Negatives would be arguably one of the worst sportsbooks on the strip imo and sort of a crammed feeling on the casino floor, but that might not matter in December. Probably one of the better environments for your teenagers I'd think, I'm sure some others could chime in there. Pretty good location on the strip too since I'm assuming you'll venture out with the family.

Getting picked up to go to the airport in a little over an hour...been waiting over a year for this trip and I'm WAY too pumped up.

I don't think they have a poker room, if I recall correctly, so if you like to play poker you would have to go somewhere else. But I do like the pizza at the food court.

I believe you are correct. Another good, or I guess bad, point if that's important.

Excalibur is like a 500 foot walk across the street and their poker room is as :fishy: as they get for low stakes.

The Gondola ride is still active. Looked romantic.

Any suggestions for a place that may offer adjoining rooms at a decent rate?

We have 4 or 5 guys heading out in June. One suite probably wont cut it. Looking to spend 250 a night or so.

My room at Harrah's was ajoining...but that's well below 250/nt. Although, it is amazingly easy access from Harrah's to Venetian/Mirage (and alot of cheap food to be had in between).

ok, may have just been the times of day I went by and saw them all tied up with no activity.

For now I'm staying at a Marriot product near the Convention Center because it's close to my conference and it's close to the Hilton sports book. Mandalay Bay has some good deals but it's way too far from my convention and I am not wanting to rent a car. Would probably consider Caesars if I could find the right price since I like their sports book and it's right across from where most of the people I'm going with are staying (IP).
