We stayed at the Cosmo in a wraparound back in December. I calmly handed over my ID, credit card, and a $20 bill sandwiched in between. The young lady behind the check in counter asked me if I need change.  I already knew that she knew what I was really after. I asked if there was any upgrades to a fountain view and at first she was hesitant but said let me check. She got on the phone for a few minutes and came back with a $55/night upgrade to a fountain view or a room on the southeast corner of the Chelsea Tower which I would still be able to see the fountains and was in a room category that I already paid for. She asked at the end if the $20 was for her and I let me tell you, it was money well spent. Here's a few views from our balcony.

Looks like a fountain to me

Nighttime fountain show
Yes! I can't even describe how much better my trip was simply because I was literally showering while watching the fountain show out the bathroom window over the soaking tub. It didn't win me any money, and I've seen the fountains a billion times. But it just really felt like I was IN Vegas each time I did that.

Made it to round 8 and busted.  Flopped only one hand nicrely all night.  Had aa2 and another low card 5 times and never got called on a raise.  Sucks when you run this bad.  I usually get one or two nice runs on days like this to stay afloat to day 2.  One last Om8 at the Aria tomorrow.

Damn, sorry man. Too bad there's nothing else to do in Vegas...

Good luck tomorrow - keep us posted!

Check out the Comedy Cellar at the Rio casino.  It's owned by the same owner of the Comedy Cellar in NYC.  The shows are showcase shows, meaning they're all headliners doing 15 minutes each.   The quality on their lineups blows any other club out of the water.
We went Friday night. First guy was funny. Last three were awesome.

Was just in town for a business conference.  Just a couple of heads ups/reviews for anybody that might be interested:

Had dinner at Mr. Chow (located in Caesars) with my co-workers. The dining room itself is small but cool.  Has an interesting piece of mechanical art that drops from the ceiling on timer.   With that being said--the food was "meh", the service was snooty and arrogant and the prices are beyond ridiculous.   Big time avoid in my book.

Border Grille at Mandalay Bay--it pains me to say this because I had always been a fan of this restaurant.  The used to have an expansive menu and their food was always solid.  I was there a few days ago--and to my dismay--the menu is beyond limited.   Like literally--it was less than one side of one page.  The bummer doesn't stop there--the food is not nearly the quality it used to be.   I ordered a chicken quesadilla--and it was more greasy than any quesadilla that I have ever had at Taco Bell or del taco.   I also noticed that they raised their prices pretty moderately all while limiting the foot options and lowering their food quality.   I hate to say this--but I'm no longer a fan.

On a positive note (also--I fully admit that this recommendation might compromise my man card a bit)--the show called Baz at the Palazzo was a pleasant surprise.  Full disclaimer--I'm not really an artsy fartsy person.   I don't like musicals and am admittedly unsophisticated when it comes to artsy things. Apparently the premise of the show is that it is about three different stories highlighted in Baz Luhrmann movies---Romeo and Juliet, Great Gatsby, and Moulin Rouge.  I got tickets for my entire staff at the Palazzo box office and was able to score them for 30% off their already low prices relative to vegas shows.  We landed tickets in an area that was about halfway up the tiny theater that they use for the show.  Our seat was a very comfortable upholstered bench with a cocktail tables in front of us. The aisles were wide and they had cocktail/drink service.  The show is affordable, in a cool/small/intimate theater, and features a small cast of very talented people.  The quality of the singing, dancing, and the band is pretty insane.  I wasn't super familiar with any Luhrmanns takes on the stories (as I'd never seen the movies)--but I was still able to follow along.  It is not a typical vegas show and it doesn't feel like one.  It feels like something you would see in a small theater on broadway. It was weird, and quirky--but overall I enjoyed it.  I can also testify that the show resonated very well with the vast majority of the females in the audience.  My female co-workers are still talking about it.  If you are in vegas with your gf, date, wife and are up to try something a bit different for Vegas--give it a shot.  Unfortunately--because the amphitheater is small and the show doesn't seem to get much advertising--I worry that it might not last too long.

Going again in August.  I have some points from the last time I went to caesers but not enough to get any crazy offers.  I'm seeing better stuff just looking at Expedia.  If I go through Expedia, can I still get my points for total rewards if i book with a hotel in the caesers mg group?  Just wondering how it works

You'll still get TR credits for the money you spend on property, and the gambling. You will not get any credit for the money spent on the room if you book through a third party, unless you pay with the TR credit card.

Going back in two weeks for WSOP razz and PLO8.  Room is free for five days at Rio.  TR finally started giving some credit for WSOP play last year...

Strip clubs....  whatcha got?
Saphirre's is the biggest and probably has the best talent.  You will also spend the most money here.

Spearmint Rhino is small, but also has great talent.  Girls seem to work harder here.

Cheatah's is more like a strip club you'd find outside of Vegas, doesn't feel like the fancy Vegas club.

Palomino is for if you want fully nude.  They still serve alcohol.  Talent isn't close to the top clubs.

Only four I've been to in Vegas.  Might be better options I've not seen.

I'll be there later this year and a group of friends I know will be staying at Bellagio.

I can stay at either Vdara or Planet Hollywood for the same price. Any reason any of you would pick one over the other? I'd like to be relatively close to them to make it easier to hang out when we do. Vdara connects to Bellagio and PH is right across the street but I'm not as familiar with the 2 to know if there's any big difference in proximity or otherwise. Obviously PH has a casino as well which is nice but isn't a must.

So which should I choose?

Definitely Vdara. It doesn't matter that there's no casino. You can be in the Aria casino faster than you can get to the MGM casino from an MGM room. It's right there, a few hundred feet away.  And bellagio couldn't be easier access.

Vdara is nicer.  Planet Hollywood has the Pleasure Pit, with scantily dresses dealers and girls dancing behind them.  Honestly I’d rather stay at Vdara if my plan was to spend a lot of time in the room, but I’d choose PH if I was looking for a fun late night gambling vibe.

Probably heading out with some buddies (6-8 guys)  in September for a gambling / sportsbook / dining Trip. It’s been a while.

Considering off strip accommodations (air BNB house) with this crew given the size of the group, but we shall see.

Have standing offers from Wynn for 2 free nights in king suite but that’s Sun-thurs only. I think we are looking at fri PM>mon Trip to net college and pro football over the weekend.

I like Vdara for the fact it doesn’t have a casino and right on the Strip.  As others have mentioned, Bellagio is right across a breezeway and Aria/Cosmo are a stone’s throw the other way.  Rooms have been a little pricier lately, but it’s a great place.

ETA:  Never stayed at PH

Flight leaves in 5 hours, my wife and I are the last of 5 couples to arrive for the weeklong trip. One of our friends is playing the WSOP ME (we run a tournament series and he was the winner). I'm going to try to satellite in tomorrow but if I don't make it I'll play the $1500NL on Thursday.

I am playing in the $1500 NL tournament on Thursday. Some of my friends are playing in the ME. Should be a lot of fun.

Played the $1500NL today. Managed to hold on all the way to level 8 after losing half my stack on the first hand with QQ. Still well short of the money.

The winner of our tournament series bagged 164K after Day 2 of the Main Event so he’s doing great.

Two best places in Vegas at the minute are Wynn/Encore and Aria.

A good buddy of mine who played poker professionally for a long time used to always say - never go broke with a queen in your hand.

You did good to stay alive there.

Libertine Social in Mandalay Bay was really good, both with food and cocktails.  We also got off the strip to Hobak for Korean BBQ and Shang for some authentic Chinese noodles.

Only show this time was Le Reve, which is made particularly amazing when enjoyed with legal gummies

Pretty spot on. I've had fun at each of them, and I'm not really a fan of strip clubs.

Sapphire - best talent but lots and lots of girls. Overwhelming if you aren't buying. Best place for evening bottle service type experience.

Rhino - found a back bar here where the girls let off the pressure. Nice to get back there for a drink without having to worry if you aren't buying.

Cheetahs - we did a Sunday afternoon here and got a 1.75 of grey goose for 100 bucks. Girls sat and had drinks and asked for an occasional dance - pretty laid back.

Palomino - girls here were the most fun. I told them I don't buy private time, but they still hung out between stage sets. We bought a few rounds and tipped when they went on stage. It was pretty dead, so it could be different on a busy night.

I have several friends is many wsop events so I follow the WSOP update pages a lot.  It's amazing how many people go out of tourneys with AQ.

I'm going back Thursday for one last event!!!  3K HORSE

Good luck! That should be a blast to play in!

I made it to level 7 before busting out. Couldn't get in many hands because a maniac was at my table, and I didn't get the cards to get into a hand with him. Had fun though.

Going to be in Las Vegas this weekend for a couple of nights at the Vdara before going to the Grand Canyon and being incommunicado for five days and then back to the same hotel for a week for work. While the hotel can store our bags that we won't be bringing with us, I don't know what to do with my laptop, iPad, Bose headphones as I'm not going to be able to use them while we are floating down the Colorado. While I could leave my bag with that stuff with the regular storage, I was hoping to have some sort of secured place to store it. Since the Vdara doesn't have a casino, they don't have safe deposit boxes. I called the concierge and she suggested a few 3rd party places but didn't recommend anything specifically because they don't necessarily work with them. The ones I have found require a minimum of one year so that's not an option.

TL;DR - Does anyone know of any short-term secure, storage places/lockers in Las Vegas?

Q. Can I store luggage at the airport?
A. Due to changes in security regulations, storage lockers are no longer available at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.

The 3rd party vendor they suggest using is off-site and $8/bag/day. No bueno.
Can you buy some cheap software that like a best buy can install? Take it there and then pick it up when you get back?

If you aren’t willing to pay $8 a day, you have no reasonable chance at storing your items.

After some quick looking it seems Aria would have a safe deposit box you could likely use.

Happen to have scheduled our dude weekend for Oct 5.  McGreggor fight is that Saturday night.  Will ALL of the sportsbooks be charging to get in to watch the fight, or will that just be certain books/resorts holding watch parties?  I figured we could bet the fight and watch where we bet, but my buddy says he's seeing like $100 tickets to watch it anywhere.

Going to see Santana night before the Super Bowl. Staying at Mandalay Bay.   Anybody recommend a great Super Bowl Party to start targeting?

They usually don't broadcast them in the book itself, but show it in a conference room or something like that and force people to buy tickets. So unfortunately your buddy is right.
