Very accurate scouting report re: Cam Newton (1 Viewer)

:lmao:

you're really reaching with the discount doublecheck comparison.

do you know what a 'weak equivalency' is?

is cam one of your family members?

Next time you want to sound smart, Google the phrase first. Make sure you use it properly and know yourself what it means.

Anyone reading this should Google the writer's name.

He's really only famous for this scouting report.
Character issues are always overemphasized in his player evaluations.
That is one of the most accurate scouting reports I ever read.
Did it mention "capable of being one of the best players in the NFL as a rookie and having the best rookie season ever, with no training camp?"Would you guys trade Newton for Gabbert? Locker? Ponder? Dalton?

He's a franchise QB, and worth the pick spent on him.
I'd rather have Dalton for sure. I need the rest of the year to see Newton, Locker, and Ponder. I'd take Newton over Gabbert.
Interesting. Dalton is in a much better situation, and isn't asked to lead his team in rushing to have a shot at winning. The total TD mark isn't close. The total yardage mark isn't close. The passing yardage total is in Newton's favor. The INT% is within 3%, and Daltons is higher this year. Newton's YPC is a full yard higher.

Wins matter, and Dalton is winning. So I can't blame you, but do disagree. I think Newton, in Dalton's shoes, wins just as much, if not more. No way to prove that, however.
Winning in fantasy football maybe.

Discount Double Checks don't happen down 20.

dude, you have to go outside conference to play a team with a winning record.
'Weak equivalency', dude. I like Dalton and think he will be a good player; but as the other poster mentioned, correcting me, justly - Dalton hasn't been winning football games.

Interesting assesment. Obviously as a young man he has plenty or time to develop as a player, a leader and a man... so, the jury defineately out. But, a right hook from Steve Smith might not be the worst thing for him. lol.

Funny though, I'd never read this scouting report but everything about it rings as amazingly accurate after having seen this most recent press conference... I don't folow the Panthers and admittedly know very little about Cam other than the general 'cattle education' most of us get via the other media outlets...

I do like to think I have a good read on people in general. I saw that press conference and it literally made me sick. He smacked of everything that is sited in this scouting report and I do remember thinking after the presser "wow, what a spoiled d0uchebag. I can't imagine that being my QB". If i played for Carolina, that presser would have left a really bad taste in my mouth.

I agree, maybe some are being harsh, but I think we need to put this in perspective:

1) he needs to grow up and quit throwing teammates, coaches or others under the bus.

2) he lacks some leadership. I get it, but as a 2nd year pro, we are expecting a little much in terms of asking him to take control of his team. Many Young pros are often lacking in leadership in some capacity. On occasion you will get a pro who will come in on draft day and make the team his own, but this is the exception and not the rule.

3) He needs a run game. Teams have adjusted to the fact he likes to throw the deep ball (think Rex Grossman) and the team can take the heat off of him by either running the ball better or adding a short passing game to the game plan. I'm thinking with the money spent on DeAngelo and JStew, the run game would be the natural choice.

4) the sooner he realizes he is not the next coming of Peyton Manning, the better this will be for him. Hopefully the hot start to his career does not make him uncoachable.

that's all I have to say for now.

I'm not saying everyone who agrees with this assessment (written LAST year before he was drafted) is a racist bigot, but you can be certain every racist bigot does agree with it.

He's an immature guy, no question. I hate anybody in a position of leadership giving off that much negative energy. But the "scouting report" is over the top, and frankly, unprofessional.

I don't get the comparisons to VY; in terms of being whiny, he is most like Cutler or Rivers.

So a GM wastes money and talent on a crowded and under-utilized backfield and then in this offseason goes out and signs another rb in Tolbert and the Shark Pool mocks them for it relentlessly. Then Carolina losses some games for a variety of reasons (mostly coaching but Cam certainly isn't blameless) and now Cam gets his GM fired? Are people forgetting that the owner pushed hard for Cam?The idea that Cam, and Cam alone is the reason this team is losing is laughable. Against ATL the game was decided on a game winning field goal, Cam threw two TDs, ran another in and had no INTs. He also lead the team in rushing with 80ish yards. If Car won that game, would we be having this conversation?I actually think the answer is yes, some people just really want this guy to fail
You forgot to mention he lost the game for them due to the fumble he lost.

It seems like Newton was given the keys to the franchise and told to go get'em.
What does this mean
No support, no plan...in Cam we trust
If anything it was the opposite... The problem is the gameplan was suited to Cam's strengths and that gameplan simply can not succeed in the NFL.The underperforming and thus overpaid RBs, the lack of defense due in part to them being on the field too often because of the lack of sustained drives, the lack of defense due to an overpaid offense, the firing of the GM....All could in part be blamed on Chud's read option experiment that has failed.

The scouting report that was posted to start this thread is more of an unfounded "personality profile". I say unfounded because the person who wrote it apparently never met Cam. It's no different than us passing judgement on celebrities who we have never met--we base our opinions on what we see on the big screen or what we read about on TMZ. However, the reason why Cam has regressed this year is largely due to the sophistication of NFL scouting reports. Look at last year--he started the season off amazingly well. His first 5-7 games were awesome because NFL teams didn't know what he was capable of doing--there were no full NFL scouting reports on him. However, if you look at the latter part of last season--his slowdown started then. The NFL scouting reports caught up to him--they exposed his strengths and weaknesses. The issue is if Cam can go into the "lab" and tweak his game to be ahead of the scouting reports again. The irony here is that the report that "started" this thread is not what is important-- it's the Nfl scouting reports that are important.

Cam got better over the 2nd half of last season, even though his passing yards dropped. His Ints dropped, his TDs remained, and he turned the ball over much less. And what are defenses doing differently? The only difference I see, is that his team can't run the ball anymore, and he has facing more 2nd/3rd and longs. It's easy to look at his numbers and say defenses "figured him out" - but what are they really doing? He looks like the same guy, to me. I could be missing something, but I don't see defenses doing anything that they didn't do last season.

He never met Cam yet he nailed it.... go figure. If Cam's public persona is different than his private persona he may want to change his public persona because he looks like a huge jerk. The report that started this thread is VERY important. He's going down the way of Vince Young......fast. Its starting to become an every week thing which is not good. Maybe its a compliment to compare him to Young....Vince Young at least won games.

Cam was on the front page of CBS yesterday as a "Coach Killer" Although he still has time to turn it around his attitude is getting etched in stone very fast.
