Veto trade? (1 Viewer)

Owners of team A and B are cousins in a 12 team ppr league. Team B is in his first year of fantasy football.

Team A offers Zac Stacy for Nick Foles yesterday and team B accepts. Here are the quick rosters for each:

A -

QB - Rodgers, Foles

RB - P Thomas, Stewart, F Jackson, Cunningham

B -

QB - Romo, RG3

RB - Lacy, L Bell, Stacy, Sproles, Asiata

Should this trade be vetoed?
You should not be commish
He's not.

It does seem odd for you both to trade from a position of weakness like that. He's now stuck with Romo or RG3 to start this week and has 4-5 legit starting RBs. You now have 2 great options at QB, but I honestly don't love any of the RBs you have left. If it went the other way, it seems to make a lot more sense (him getting a starting QB in return for giving you a starting RB).

Odd trade to me, but I can't see the collusion angle at all.

Well unfortunately my friend rejected the trade. :sadbanana: I honestly thought he was joking but posted this thread in case he wasn't. He couldn't of vetoed the trade if he read all of your posts. His response to me via text was "I am going to reject your trade. I really do not think it is an even trade and if you want to make it more balanced and offer a top rb for foles who is a top qb then I will approve it. Sorry man. I know you can't honestly say it's fair either."

These players have a respective trade value of 18.8 and 18.5 in footballguys.com Top 200 forward rankings.

Your friend is a horrible commish and this is a league I would never want to be in. Show him the Top 200 rankings here or of sportsline trade values or any other overall rankings going forward. Show him every post in this thread.

And then tell him I said he's an idiot as well please. <_<

You need to walk away from this league. Seriously, I am not kidding. This commish thinks that he is much smarter than all of you and feels the need to "save you from yourselves". Guy like that has no business being commish of a fantasy league. This is one of the worst cases of commish abuse of authority that I have ever seen in decades of playing this game.

It will suck for you to walk away but this guy is going to truly upset the competitive balance of this league while he is busy being the high and mighty final arbiter of all things football. You and your cousin both need to get out because you can't rely on fair treatment for anyone in a league like this.

Again, I am not kidding, you and your cousin should just walk away. This commish is terrible.

Some fantasy football leagues are run by good commissioners who know what they're doing.

Other leagues just have some ####### playing the role of "commissioner" because someone has to and no one else volunteered.

Sounds like you're in the latter kind of league. See if you can get your money back, and definitely don't come back next year.

Completely agree. We may laughing at this but it's only because your commish is so blatantly out of line. He's basically vetoing trades he doesnt like when any reputable fantasy service would rate it even.

Walk away.

Yeah - Just because someone else wouldn't do it - it must be a bad trade.

Since you've directed him to this thread, I'll gladly let him know he sucks as a commissioner. I hope the entire league either walks away or votes to remove him.

Wow. Is there anything you're not telling us that makes QBs more valuable in this league than in most? Start 2 or something?

has anyone ever answered "yes" to a should this trade be vetoed question in the shark pool?

i have not

Tell him to read this thread and that you and your cousin either get your money back or you quit immediately.

He has no idea what he is doing. It is not his job to veto trades based on his subjective player values or his own selfish interests or whatever he is doing here.

Seriously terrible job by the commish.

You and your cousin deserve a refund and if he says no you should still walk away.

Just terrible.

No, I know you consider Foles better but as Team A has Rodgers, Foles is just riding the pine. To him, getting another RB has more value. I don't consider it particularly unfair under those circumstances.

These kind of things are my specialty and my rate for consulting is $350 per hour. I estimate that my review of this would take about 20 hours, but for you, I can probably get it done in 15, which is my hour minimum.

PM if you're interested.

12 team ppr league. Start 1 qb, 2 rb, 2wr, 1 te, 1 flex.

I drafted Stacy 39th overall in 4th round. My cousin drafted Foles 52nd overall in 5th round as his second qb....before any rb.

I understand that this guy is your friend, and you are probably thinking that you don't want to cause a rift in your friendship over this, but you very seriously need to walk away from this league. Your friend is absolutely the worst type of Commissioner that there is. He has no business vetoing this trade. Let him know that you still want to be friends, but that you are no longer interested in being a subject in his dictatorial league.

There was not one single thing wrong with that trade.

Wait, starting RB's are dropping like flies, and he thinks Foles is the more valuable player here? wtf?

Just to be clear, the rosters you listed are after the trade, right?

The only thing I can see the commissioner saying is your cousin is weakening himself at QB (losing Foles and left with Romo and RG3, one who is injured and one who is an injury risk) while adding

someone who is probably only his back-up RB. However, since you have a flex position, Stacy could be starting there, so I don't see much of an argument.

I commish a league where only I have veto powers. I almost never use them. Case in point. My four and a half year old son plays in said league and just yesterday, I offered him Peterson and Rice for McCoy. I asked him face to face if he was interested and his response was "Daddy, I love you." As the commish, I interpreted this as an acceptance of the trade and processed it. Needless to say, some of the other league members took issue, but I told them that unless they could prove collusion, I was not going to reverse it.

it seems like Team B got the better end of that and hes the new guy? umm

I think the posted teams are pre-trade. So the team with Romo and RG3 would get Foles and give Stacy.

As the Commish of a league, I never veto trades that the two players believe are even. Even if a trade looks lopsided, if a person believes that he got a good deal I don't use veto. Ours is a dynasty league so trades can look uneven with young players who haven't taken off yet being traded for current stars, but as long as there's not collusion to improve 1 team greatly, you gotta let it through.

Personally I think Stacy isn't going to have a good year. But the guy who had Foles needs a RB, so he traded for what he thought he could get. There's no collusion and your commish has abused his powers Goodell-Style.

No. The rosters above are before any trade. The team with Rodgers and Foles has agreed to trade Foles for Stacy

Just mindblowing that someone could think that this trade is uneven. Did they even watch the game on Monday? Foles is a pretty damn shaky QB1

Walk away from the league. Personally I would play our this year, and then not return. Unfortunate being a friends & family league but your commish is as wrong as wring ca be.

Leave the league. What a joke. Drop all of your players to the wire.

Then, as a previous poster said, sleep with his wife/gf. And if you really want to make some noise, sleep with the sister of the owner that was going to trade with you.

That'll show them.

That's what I was going off of.

With the clarification, this trade makes total sense. Team A needs help at RB and Team B needs help at QB.

You need to have sex with the commissioners wife.

Is there a difference between sleeping with your cousins sister and sleeping with your cousin? Need to know, for science.

That would make some noise. The two owners are cousins.

I would veto the trade because both teams were better before the trade.

From now on can we mandate that all trade veto questions should be posted in the form of a poll, and sleep with the commissioner's wife has to be an option?

if you are an owner the last option should be

- sleep with the commissioner's wife/GF

if you are a commish it shold be

- the owner should sleep with my wife/GF
