Vick QB value going forward... (1 Viewer)

Let's discuss his value and qb rank if Reid does in fact name him the starter. Right now he's qb3 in my league and one game was against a solid GB squad. So what do you think? I'm thinking top 5 - 8 qb.

Most leagues give big points to qb's who scramble. I'm thinking Vick's floor is top 7...with the upside to finish as the #1 qb.

Andy Reid's pass happy offense plus 50+ rushing yards per game? Huge upside here.

And to think I could have snagged him off waivers. Instead I traded for Kolb. What a kick to the nads this is.

I don't know of any leagues that give big points to qbs who scramble.

Now counting 4 Topic Discussions on Vick ongoing right now.Vick Top 5 if he plays all 14 Eagle games left.
It's bound to happen when huge news like this breaks. There are a bunch of different angles and things to discuss and it can get messy in one 6 page thread. He could end up being the ww pickup of the year almost by accident. Crazy.

In general, rushing yards are worth twice that of passing yards.

:goodposting: The majority of leagues give 2x to 2.5x the number of fantasy points for a rush yard as they do a pass yard.

Pretty sure he meant the act of scrambling isn't what gives you points, it's the yards gained.a guy can scramble behind the line of scrimmage, they don't get points for that.

OK, fair enough. Now back to the question at hand. If healthy, given those weapons, he's a Top 10 fantasy QB.

IMO.......it's a pretty small sample size at this point to deserve "top 5" type of projections. Sure, he's looked like a good fantasy football QB, but..........his size quarters of play have come against the Packers who were in prevent mode while protecting a lead (when they clamped down.......Vick didn't look so hot) and against the Lions D (need I say more).

Sure, with the Eagles.....and in Reid's offense.......he has some upside. But, lets try not to go over the top on Vick just yet.

In his last full season as a starter (2006), he was the 3rd best fantasy QB. He has better weapons now. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/V/VickMi00.htm

All that FFB potential started to bare fruit the season before he got popped for the dogs. Looks like it will pick up right where he left off. Great pick-up. Kolb sucks.

Probably too early to say, but this might have won me my league. Also solved my "having 3 QB's on my roster and not feeling good about any of them" problem.

I feel a lot better heading into week 3 with Vick as my starter only having Kolb and Vince Young on my team.

But, that was four years ago. Again, I'm not saying he CAN'T be top five.............I'm just saying lets see more than six quarters in mop up time and verse the Lions.

The Eagles offensive line is horrible, which means Vick will be doing a lot of running. I'd imagine it's safe to assume 30 - 60 yards rushing per game. He's got great weapons around him, but again he'll be under a lot of pressure and the Eagles have a tough schedule. So I imagine, some games he'll put up good yardage through the air, but will also have INT's and a bad game here and there. If he plays the whole season, possibly a top 10 fantasy QB with a lot of potential upside.

I dont trust this at all. One bad game by Vick and we will see Kolb again....
Also a possibility to take into account before giving away everything but the kitchen sink for the guy in a trade. Kolb has been groomed to start for this team for years and he's out after only one half of football against a very good packers team. If Andy was so quick to go with Vick, he could be just as quick to go back to Kolb after a bad performance. Also, the Philly offensive line is beat up and Vick could also get hurt.

Vick is motivated to prove people wrong this time around. I expect him to put up better fantasy numbers than he did in any of his years with the Falcons.

Yeah, i'm not sure about this. I drafted Kolb and picked up Vick last week to sub in for him. I'm wondering how long i leave Kolb on my roster before cutting him, or do i keep him for the season? This is a keeper league.

1 pt per 33 yards rush, 6 pt per rush td

1 pt per every 100 yards passing, 3 pts per pass td

currently he's 8th ranked qb in my league.

i was just offered pierre thomas and naanee for vick and stewart...

(and no this is not a would you do the trade response)...just stating what i was offered for vick

Waiting for Roethlisberger to come back, traded B.Jackson for Vick. It was a no-brainer. Jackson will get 10-12 touches a game, Vick will be top 5 the rest of the way.

Well lets not get TOO carried away, as an Eagles fan I'd LOVE for him to do great this year, and so far he's played great - he's #10 in one of my leagues where they reward TDs highly, and #4 in another league with a more "normal" scoring system. But this comes right after a big game against one of the easier defenses he'll face this year. The Eagles still have to play all of their division games plus games against the 49ers, Colts and Bears (to name a few)... not an "easy" schedule, to be sure... So while he certainly has a shot at Top 10 status, he's not a lock for it. Let's see how he does against a few more good defensive teams before we anoint him as a Top 5 QB, shall we?

Oh, an one thing I forgot to mention... he performed very well against one very good defense that was NOT prepared for him to play the role he did in the game, and another defense that... well, I saw signs that the Detroit D may be going in the right direction, but they are not there yet... it could be an entirely different thing when a good defense that has been preparing all week for what Vick brings to the table comes to town...
