Vick's injury info (1 Viewer)

Vick updates his health situation

Quarterback Michael Vick appeared on WXTG Radio 102.1 The Game and The Bruce Smith Show on Monday night and updated his rib/chest injury, saying he would be out no longer than two weeks.

Said Vick when asked how much time he might miss: "There is some cartilage damage up in there and a small fracture up in there, so maybe a week, maybe two weeks. We'll have to see. I've got some cartilage damage up in there, in the upper area of my ribs. I just have to work through it. I've always been a quick healer. It won't be no more than one, two weeks hopefully. Hopefully.

"I'm feeling good, despite the rib injury. I'm fighting through it. Overall, I'm feeling well."

Vick also said that the most effective way to recover from the injury was to rest. There isn't much else that can heal the injury other than time.

"The most important thing is just rest," said Vick. "There is really nothing you can do for a rib injury, especially in the upper part of your rib cage. I'll get rest, I've got a Hyperbaric machine and I'll be spending a lot of time in that trying to restore my blood cells. I'll stay in the treatment room, getting ice for it and just trying to get movement."

X-Rays are negative. Howard Eskin on Sports Final says Vick has a sternum injury, and they suspect torn cartilage on his ribs. MRI tomorrow will show if that is the case.EDIT: he also said expect Vick out 2-3 weeks.
also speculation. not even a doctor could know this without mri results.
not speculation. eskin gives good info, and he was exactly right with this.
wrong. doesnt have sternum injury, doesnt have torn cartilage.

(KFFL) A former Philadelphia Eagles orthopedist who is not involved in QB Michael Vick's (rib) treatment said Vick could miss anywhere from two to six weeks with his injury, reports Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News. Dr. Art Bartolozzi said Vick will first have to get to the point where he can take a deep breath, after cracking the tissue that connects the ribs to the breastbone. Then, "the rib cage and muscles will have to stabilize." Bartolozzi said a throwing motion will aggravate the injury, if Vick tries to play before it completely heals.
Ok, he's out until after the bye.
