Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (11 Viewers)

Used some @Gamer magazine coupons at Best Buy yesterday. Got Crisis 2 used for $2, Rage new for $5, and Batman: AC new for $10. Still going strong in Skyrim, but will probably co-op Rage once a week with a coworker. Not sure when I will get to the other two games.

Let me know how the Show is!
I played a game with the Twins in the Marlins new stadium and then a game as the Rays against the Yankees. Lets just say I am blown away (more so than most years). The player animations are fantastic, and the ball physics are great, subtle but great. Example, Gaby Sanchez ripped one to Right Field and instead of the ball hitting the wall and just dying it popped up and I had to react to it. I can't ever remember it being like that in the previous games. Also, pulse pitching is great. I actually have to focus in to pitch and I can also tell a big difference between a guy like Fransisco Liriano and David Price.

So whoever said that Duke Nukem Forever wasn't worth the 99 cents I paid for it - totally correct. :hot: I feel so bad for anyone that paid anything more than a buck for that steaming pile of crap. I played about 40 minutes and feel cheated. :wall:

I had heard this game sucked. What a shame as it was in the making for so many years. What makes it so bad?

From what I've heard, horrid load times, subpar graphics, frustrating gameplay, and a disjointed storyline. Aside from that, it's top shelf.

I got my Xbox 360 for Xmas and have pretty well played COD exclusivly.

Just curious if a game like Skyrim or ME3 would be a huge learning curve?

Also, has anyone played the new UFC game? Is it any good?

Thanks!

Depends. Skyrim is so big and complex it certainly has a learning curve but compared to the games length (150 hours or so for a single character), it is minimal.

Think of all the things that made Duke Nukem 3D. Sylvester Stallone/Dolph Lundgren/Arnold Schwarzenegger wannabe spatting lines from movies that were popular at the time, with some good first-person shooter elements. Now, imagine playing the same game, except it takes 14 years to make and it's the Expendables version of all those actors. It's like returning to your old high school for your 20 year reunion to find that the popular, funny guy you knew back hasn't changed at all and still thinks he's funny and cool, but you realize he was never really funny nor cool. Most of the gaming elements are either the same or poorly take on elements from games that have been popular since it started production. That's Duke Nukem Forever.

Honestly, it was done within the first 5 minutes. So you start in a bathroom, peeing into a urinal. Yeah, left click to piss. Uh huh. Now run to the boss battle, only to discover you are actually Duke Nukem playing a Duke Nukem video game while getting a BJ from 2 twins. :rolleyes:It's not so much the 99 cents that upsets me as the 30-40 minutes I wasted today are gone forever. I would have felt better about that time if I used it writing haiku praising Obama.

I picked up SW:The Old Republic finally, just got it installed tonight. First impressions, the voice acting is cool, but if you are a "give me the quest and let me go do it" kinda player it could get annoying to listen to them chatter on. If you like the story (think of other BioWare games) then you'll probably dig it. I like that the characters I created each have their own storyline, it'll be interesting to see how long before they merge into one main storyline, as they usually do in MMOs. I definitely plan to play this very casually, I don't care to get sucked in to the point where it is taking up all my free time, and so far, it looks like it was designed to allow a little more casual play-style.

I havent played a baseball game in forever...any play the MLB The Show games? How are they?
Still not as good as Baseball Stars or RBI Baseball.
Does the show or any other baseball game have a dynasty mode that goes all the way down to single A? that was the best part of Triple Play 2004. I loved having 100 year dynasty where I could grow a team from the absolute bottom up.
OOTP

Do you have many LOTRO buddies on your server?

Just got back from gamestop for Mass Effect 3 and the Show. Firing up the Show now as I haven't completed Mass Effect 2 yet.
How do you feel about the pulse pitching? I'm not liking it
I actually love it. I think it is way better than the meter or the analog pitching. To me, it makes Justin Verlander seem like Justin Verlander and Fransisco Liriano feel like himself. In past games I have felt that I can pinpoint my pitch wherever and with this the better pitchers stand out.

Anyone play the Disneyland Adventure game for XBox? I have a buddy that can get XBox stuff cheap and he is grabbing it for me.*

*Clearly, I don't play the kill things games, so I apologize for continually asking about kid oriented stuff and sports.

Oh yeah, and The Show needs to come out for XBox. I don't care how much it costs. I saw a commercial for it last night and it moved. If I have a good month I may actually just buy a PS3 just for that game, and face the divorce papers from my wife for getting it within a few months of getting the XBox, it looked that good.

My kids play it and enjoy it. We go to DL yearly, so it is a lot of fun for them to visit the sites that way.

I am loving this game as well but I am disappointed with the move option. It may be me doing it wrong but I dont think it works very well. I have only tried batting. Sometimes my guy does not swing and I have a hard time getting the camera to recognize me. The game playing without the move is fantastic though.

Stated AC: Revelations over the past 2 nights. I'm bored out of my mind. Like most fans of the series, I liked the potential of AC1 and loved the last 2. But right now, Revelations just isn't interesting me at all. They introduced some cool new moves, but I have no desire to spend all day making different kinds of bombs. Also, the dungeon sections I've been so far have been plagued with horrible camera angles. Combine that with the super dark lighting, and spending the time to get through the different areas without being detected is just too much of a chore.I want to play through the game because i want to complete the story. But I'm just not feeling it so far at all. Also, as weird as it is, I don't like playing as old Ezio. Its kinda depressing. Saw the AC3 trailer today. The new setting could be a nice change up, but I'll wait for reviews.
Revelations was a step back from AC2 and Brotherhood, in my opinion. It's still a good game like those other two are, but all of the new stuff, like bombs, waters it down and makes situations too easy, as if the game wasn't easy enough. The tower defense minigame was pointless. You only have to do it once, and after that you don't even have to win. It's easier to let them take over the base and retake it. Even worse are the Desmond puzzles in the animus.
I did the first one, thinking that the next gate would be different. Another one of the dumb pointless puzzles and I never went back to them.

A few, only played the one night so far, so really haven't run into many people I knew yet, except the ones I already knew were there. Some House of Elder's folks, couple old Epic. Apparently Call to Arms has some folks on the Empire side on a different server.

Well let me know if they ever do something crazy like in LOTRO where they had a lifetime pass. :nerd: I really wish I had gotten that LOTRO pass.

A friend said that he got an email from Blizzard today saying that Diablo III was now released and that he played. Friend is a WoW player with a yearly subscription, and I know it was announced that Blizzard was giving away the game to those with the annual subscription. But I haven't seen a whisper of the game being released on any site I visit, not even to subscribers, even if they got it early. I guess he got beta access. Who knows. But I'm sure since no one has said anything tells me he doesn't know what he's talking about. So why am I writing this if I have nothing new to offer? ... SANDIMASHIGHSCHOOLFOOTBALLRULES!

For those of you with a PS3, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the PSN game Journey, one of the coolest video game experiences I've ever had. I bought it today and figured I would play the first level or so, but I ended up playing for 2 and a half hours or so and beat the game; the time literally flew by. That's probably the only negative I could say about it is the full campaign can be beat in under 3 hours. Though there should be a good bit of replayability; I've never bothered getting the trophies in a game before but I think I'm gonna try and do that for this game.

I kinda wanna re-play the entire campaign again, but I think I should probably wait a few hours since beating it the first time...

Is Steve Perry still with them? Because otherwise it's just not the same.

Anybody who doesn't like Journey the band obviously has musical tastes that are worlds apart from mine, and it's probably just best if we go our separate ways. Only the lonely shut-ins of the world could fail to appreciate this band, but I'm glad there are fans out there who faithfully admire their work. For those who dislike them, I recommend that you be good to yourself and give them another try.

It can be frustrating to walk around for smaller children. My youngest is about 40" and the Kinect "loses" her quite often and she gets frustrated. She does love it though.

 I've never really bothered to listen to much of Journey's catalogue, but from what I've heard over the years they're good for what they are, an 80s soft rock (?) band, which isn't really my thing. Journey the video game is pretty far superior to other video games out there, so Journey the band has some legit competition at the moment for the best entity named Journey...

I know the reviews are so so, and I know MLB The Show is supposed to be way better.....but I'm really enjoying MLB 2K12. Got the MLB2k12 and NBA2k12 double pack (great deal!!). I have an XBox 360 so I can't play The Show. I have not played a baseball game since 07 so its all new to me. I'm really having fun with it.

awesome game. (I'm slightly disappointed that this new Journey is not simply a port of the Atari 2600 version)

Angry Birds Space
I was just playing it on my original Droid. It's a bit of a memory hog for this phone. I can barely play it and I keep crashing at 1-12. Looks fun, what I got to play of it. Rovio is still no Walt Disney, though.

I almost DL'd this last week and have been hearing all kinds of awesome about it, but for some reason, watching videos and reviews, I can't see myself liking it.What were some of the elements that kept you into it?

MLG Columbus finals today. Anyone else watching?:crickets:
Hey Pete, how easy would it be to pick up and play fifa if your knowledge of the gae is below average. I never played the sport but really like to watch the competitive matches and have a bunch of friends around here that like playing/raging(Wormesque) at it.

Probably pretty easy. It's kinda arcade-y, but still retains a lot of the actual gameplay tactics.I've found online connections to be kinda poor, to be honest, since you're often matched up against players from around the world. I haven't played 1v1 in awhile but I've always enjoyed the team play matches when you get can a bunch of people online at the same time. It's a very fun party game, my friends and I sometimes play 3v3 and such. Not competitively, obviously.

Nevermind. Just beat it. Journey was Excellent. Especially for only $15.
