Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

Dragon's Dogma is the best action RPG I've ever played. But deeper.
It is pretty good but I fear this and Witcher 2 are great RPG's which are going to suffer because of Skyrim.
Skyrim already won whatever awards it was going to win, right? Different calendar year now. Unless you meant sales-wise...and even then, long time between releases.I will say one thing--I'm having more fun with this game than I ever did with Skyrim. And I'm a huge Bethesda fan-boy. I played the hell out of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. But there's something about this game. I'm having more fun with it than any of those, and MUCH more fun than I had with Kingdoms of Amalur recently. Same with Witcher 2. Couldn't get into it the same way. The gameplay is tops for an action-RPG. The story is secondary for me when the game is this fun, because I can imagine my own adventures in a game that makes every single quest, every single walk out of Gran Soren in the morning, feel like an epic quest that I've had to prepare extensively for by upgrading gear and skills, changing my Pawn loadout, my skill loadout, etc. Or else you die. A lot.Its incredibly fun.
AMAZING game. NEEDS MP in the worst way.
We can hope that Dragon's Dogma 2 has it, assuming there's a sequel. Despite a pretty lame marketing campaign and an even lamer name, this game is selling pretty well because gamers are loving it for the most part, and its spreading via word-of-mouth.
Okay Moobin, I haven't payed attention to gaming in the past 4+ months. I played Gears maybe twice two months back and haven't had time since, but now school and vacation are over and moving is almost done. I just hooked up the two xbox's and a snes and plan on firing up the gears tonight for the first time in forever it seems. Can you please give me the low down on what good RPG's have come out and what you think I may like since I know you have a grasp on my game tastes well enough. I am just stating to look into the WItcher 2 and now I see this Dragon's Dogma that sounds intriguing. My girlfriend is interested in Kingdoms of Armalur and see likes more action RPG ala Fable more than the Fallout/ES games and I was wondering how that game plays. Side note on the snes I just hooked up. I haven't had a chance to play it because apparently my GF is a Super Mario World pro and is about 75% through a flawless speed run. &
Props to your girl as Super Mario World is a fairly difficult game. If you want a really good mature story, I really like Witcher 2. It's more of an action RPG. It's fairly linear but honestly, after playing so much of Skyrim, I'm enjoying the change of pace. Dragons Dogma is really cool, but I think I'll wait for a sequel so they can iron out a few things and add some co-op aspect.

Watch Dogs looks awesome; like what GTAV should be.

Last of Us didn't impress me. Remeber how hyped people were for Dead Island based on the trailer? There's no gameplay video so my expectations aren't high yet. Nevermind, saw the gameplay video.

This looks pretty awesome. With Bioshock delayed until next year, this is the only game left in 2012 that I'm really looking forward to.

Edit: You got your edit in while I was replying, but I'll leave the link here in case anybody needed one.

Not surprisingly, I see a lot of Uncharted 3 in the playstyle. Big fan of the whole Uncharted series, so I consider that a good thing. Hopefully that means the controls will be very familiar.

The Last of Us, Watch Dogs, and surprisingly nobody has mentioned Beyond: Two Souls. If you like Heavy Rain, then Beyond: Two Souls has got to be your thing as it's from the same developer. Heavy Rain was a game unlike anything else and this appears to be similar in structure.

The Last of Us is run on the Unch3 engine, so all the fluid motion and ease of climbing and cover should be there. Seeing the demo, any Uncharted fan can see this is surely a different game with violence and more brutal in nature (storyline). This game will be pre-ordered, depends where as to what the best deal is.

Watch Dogs is impressive, but demo is only PC so far and ideally I would like to see how it looks or is slimmed down for console before giving it too much praise. I can say that the demo sure looks HOT and impressive! This game is a pleasant surprise for sure.

I am also intrigued with Tomb Raider after watching the demo. I had mild interest in seeing how a new and improved version of this classic would be done. The game looks similar to the Uncharted series in providing adventure and action. I guess the real question will be is how good the storyline will be to tie it all in. So far, I like what I see!

I'm not a CrapBox user and I understand that many are huge Halo fans. The Halo 4 demo made the characters look like they came out of TRON to me. I'm sure it will be successful regardless because of following, but I didn't see anything special IMO of what would make that game stand out compared to other shooters. Maybe it's just me...

Interestingly enough, no real mention of the next xbox or playstation consoles at E3, which was the rumor going into it. I guess they are not as close to coming out as most had hoped or thought.

There was no reason to announce either. Sony was the only company to have a reason to announce a new console and there isn't a developer kit out for one. Microsoft is still seeing an increase in XBox sales, while the other two have declines, so there is no reason to announce one there. Apparently, more people like Kinect than I anticipated. There was never any serious rumors going around about a next-gen console from either company going into e3. They were as credible as rumors of Half-Life 3 finally being announced.

I still predict there won't be a new system from Microsoft or Sony until 2014, probably announced next year.

For the first time, though, I'm ready for the next generation. Things are really stagnant right now.

From what I'm hearing, Watch Dogs is possibly going to be a next-gen title, so that means we probably won't get to play it for another 2 years. I agree with your thoughts on all of those games. The other games I'm interested in from e3 is Assassin's Creed 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3. Oh, and the new Sim City, although I'm not thrilled with it requiring Origin and a always-on internet connection. (I don't know why. My internet is always on unless the cable is out, but I just don't like being tied to a game's server before it will allow me to play unless it's a multiplayer game.)

Yea, I just think there isn't really a high demand for a new system from the masses. The only people who would be buying a new system is us hardcore guys, but your average American consumer has ZERO interest in any next gen hardware and probably wont for another year or 2, possibly 3.

The next gen systems are going to be sick, but the highest of high on my list is ZERO loading times. I find that is my biggest pet peeve. I would still be playing Skyrim and the Fallout games if not for long load times.

This is a great observation. It bugged me to no end that you could walk around for hours in Skyrim in this huge open world, but opening the door to a shack triggered a 30 second load. The main thing I want is online multiplayer with more than 24 people in a match. Not that every game has to be MAG of course, but I want consoles to support the same number of players as what PCs can currently do. I would also like some sort of truly massive RPG. Like Skyrim, only like 10 times the size.

I want a Skyrim type game, or bigger, with co-op.
Agreed. I'm not sure I even want an MMO, but I REALLY want CO-OP. And not some crappy half assed version like Fable II, where the second players was some random toon. I want my character, my friends character, and the entire main quest being playable by both.

If I had a dollar for every time I fell asleep with a controller in my hand while waiting for a loading screen to pass I would have enough to buy the next gen system.

Picked up Max Payne 3. The campaign has been great, the movie scenes add a great story. Multi-player is frustrating but fun. You start out with a huge disadvantage load-out wise and it looks like it will stay that way for a long time. IMO, they should scrap their unlock system, leveling up your character and weapons takes a long time and some weapons don't unlock until 40+. That will take days worth of game time to do, and then many hours (maybe days) to unlock your chosen attachments. It kinda feels like grinding. Also, the player base is already getting thin on some of the free-aim mode game types, I've seen as few as 3 lobbies going. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. The campaign is a must, even if you're just renting it. If you only got it for a short time I'd suggest not playing on hard.

Picked up Dungeons of Dredmor during the xmas steam sale and now they they did a free xpack release, so I decided to give it a whirl. The game is ruthlessly addicting.

Quantic Dream, the makers of Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond also had this tech demo of its new graphics engine. Looks amazing.

Any FBG's wanna join up for a 4-pack of Torchlight 2? $15 each gets you TL1 and TL2. I will purchase it, just need 3 more willing to send me $15 each.

I think I'll do that w/ you. I planned on buying it soon.
Ok, two more then. If I don't hear from anyone else soon I will offer the other two on slickdeals. They have a thread there.

Catching up on some older games during the summer months. Just ran through Saints Row 2, which was surprisingly very fun in an "over the top" way (although did take some unexpectedly dark turns) and is available used on half.com for ~$5. I liked it enough to order SR3, which I read some good things about in this thread.

In the meantime, playing Dues Ex: Human Revolution. Other than the fact that the graphics and inventory management system were pulled from 1998, it has been pretty solid. Sort of a weird mix between Splinter Cell and Fallout 3. I'd recommend it to the RPG/shooter crowd.

Diablo style game. Hearing the reviews of the beta from Torchlight 2, it's better than Diablo 3 in a lot of ways at a fraction of the price.

Max Payne 3′s innovative way of dealing with cheaters

By Chris Morris | Plugged In – 12 hours ago

Max Payne 3 (Rockstar Games) Cheaters might be an unavoidable reality in multiplayer gaming, but they still stink.

Rockstar Games, though, has an interesting way of dealing with the problem: isolate the troublemakers and force them to play against each other.

"We're aware that a small minority of players are spoiling the Max Payne 3 multiplayer experience for honest players with cheats and hacks, and while certain issues will be dealt with in forthcoming title updates, today we'd like to make it clear that anyone using these nefarious methods will be dealt with," the company said in a corporate blog post.

Rockstar has created an area called the "Cheaters Pool," where it will toss anyone who uses hacked saves, modded games or other shortcuts to gain an advantage -- a group the developer calls "confirmed miscreants." Once confined to that area, they'll only be able to play against others who have used cheats like invincibility hacks, infinite adrenaline or score boosters.

Don't think the infractions will be tolerated even in the pool, though. Anyone in that quarantine zone who's caught cheating a second time will be banished from the multiplayer servers indefinitely.

As for absolution? That remains to be seen. Rockstar said it might allow fallen players back into the game, but isn't promising that it will do so.

To round up the troublemakers, Rockstar is asking players who spot a cheater to email with the platform, Gamertag, description of the violation and a video or a screenshot if possible.

It's a novel approach to a widespread problem. Most developers simply boot those players from the game immediately (something Rockstar is reserving the right to do as well). Blizzard has recently started swinging its ban hammer in Diablo III, suspending or banning thousands of accounts for people who took advantage of exploits in the game.

I bought the Torchlight 2 pack. I sent SlaX the PM, but fasteddie_21 your inbox is full. Please send me a PM and clear some space so I can tell you where to paypal the $$. I still have 1 more to gift if someone wants it.

I am selling my AMD 6950 which I modded to a 6970. If any FBG wants a deal instead of using the local Craigslist/alternative, let me know.

I'm currently on my second playthrough of Infamous 2 (evil, this time). I thought the first game was pretty good but nothing special. The sequel is much better IMO. First of all, the missions aren't as repetitive. Yeah, there are still a few repeats here and there, but it's nowhere near as pronounced as it was in the first game. Second, the city of New Marais seems a lot more varied that Empire City was -- there are clear, well-defined segments of the town and they present different sets of challenges. Finally, the gameplay is just better. It's still a little too easy, even on Hard, but Cole's powers have more variety and can be put to more uses.

It's still not as good as Arkham City, which is flawless, but it at least deserves to be in the discussion of really top-notch super hero games.

Anyone watch the top 100 games of all time on G4 last week? I thought it was going to be a suckfest of all modern games like COD and such but it turned out pretty good. Even with people who I care nothing about commentating, it was kinda of cool to see all different people from sports, tv, movies, music and gaming telling stories of their favorite games on the list. Wasn't the best thing ever but it was entertaining and the list itself was pretty fair.

About to fire up and do my first play through of Deus Ex Human Revolution. Looking forward to this.

I am also through the month of June on MLB The Show (playing all 162 games of my first year in my Miami Marlins Franchise). I also DL a 1996 25 man roster set which is awesome to play one season with trades and injuires turned off.

I saw this on Major Nelson's blog and literally :lmao: You can find new copies of most of these games cheaper at most retail stores. These games don't need a one-week discount. This needs to be their new price point. If this was Microsoft's attempt to strike back against PSN+'s "free" game lineup, then they failed miserably.

Yeah, I made a thread about it, with updates of the list every night. Without knowing what criteria they used, the list is worthless to me, but it was interesting to watch anyway. For some reason, I'm a sucker for those "I Love The 80's" type countdown shows.
