I had to step away from Bioshock. It just kind of lost me. Well I should say lost the excitement. It started to feel like work so I put it down. I'll go back to it at some point but I know if I kept going I would just ruin it for myself. I am really spoiled now by the huge worlds I have been playing and Bioshock was feeling cramped a bit. So I dove back into Skyrim and started a new character. Going to play a little darker this time. Even going to do the Dark Brotherhood quest. I wiped them out in Oblivion and Skyrim last time I played. Really loving my return to Skyrim.
It can be a grind with the constant searching for loot and hacking minigames (it was the biggest complaint about the first game, they totally retooled hacking for the 2nd game), but it is worth it to finish it. Amazing storyline, especially around the 3/4 point. One tip that should streamline the process is that you don't always have to constantly hack or search everything if you don't want to although it may make some of the fights a little tougher. It's a game that gets easier as you go though as your character gets more and more powerful but the enemies don't really scale up as much. Can't do much about the linear feel though. While there is some element of searching around on each individual level/area you mostly have to go in a set order. Comparing it to Skyrim isn't really fair though, Bioshock 1 is almost a 6 year old game after all.
