Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

finished ME2, kind of a letdown after the buildup. ending was meh.

i chose to destroy the collector station, we'll see how that plays out in me3.
started God of War Ascension this morning, i needed a button masher after me1-2. finished first level, and IMO there was only one scene that was child unfriendly (the 30 second boob scene). didnt think the violence was too gory  <--in reply to an earlier post i made about letting my kids watch the GoW series. Nope, I didnt let them watch

great gameplay and graphics so far.

It will be....

Re purchased Dark Souls

Also bought Forza Horizon which is a complete joke. It's nearly identical to NFS:Most wanted which I played in 2006, only Horizon doesn't have cops!

I promptly returned it for Forza 4 which was $13 cheaper.

Well I just finished Dead Space 3 and as figured it was a decent game if it stood alone but being part of the DS franchise it was almost bad. It was repetitive and boring at points. Unlike the previous two which I had problems putting down it felt ike work slogging through this one.

If I'm just starting the god of war series, is the saga collection the way to go ? There appears to be a few different collection packages.

Taking a ####load of DVDs and games to cd warehouse this week. Debating on MLB 13 or Simcity. I still have uncharted 3 to play, so I'm holding off on tomb raider.

I'm playing through Bioshock 2 on hard, trying to save all the little sisters. I don't think I'll finish it this way.

Well, I must say, I now realize how irrelevant my "cash or omni-gel" question was for ME. As Newly Retired or Insein said, you find way better stuff than what you can buy. I deicded to look the other day to see what I had actually amassed (I never really pay attention to it) after I got a pop-up about some money achievement. I have over 900 omni-gel and $1.4M in cash. Money is actually totally irrelevant in this game. I mean, I have absolutely no use for it. Does this change in ME2?

All I am doing now is clean-up before moving on with the main story. I read that you should do all your side-questing before going on to Virmire since you get sort of "locked in" to the main story from there on out. So I have been going system by system, checking every planet to see if I missed anything. Found out I got a free DLC when I downloaded the game from PSN, so did the Asteroid 57 or whatever side stuff. Found a few derelict ships. Got Wrex his family armor. Cleaning out some Rachni nest now. I have only one cluster left to check, then it is on to the main story. I know I will miss some side quests because I just can't get interested in walking around the Citadel talking to everyone. I like checking out planets much better. But I will have done most I think by the time I am done checking all the clusters out. Just went over 30 hours of play for the game.

Now playing Far Cry 3. About 8-10 hours in. Loving it so far. Some of the combat is a bit off for me. My main complaint is the checkpoints during missions. They are too few and far between. Sometimes you have quite a journey between smaller islands to get the to the island where your objective is. A few times I made it all the way to the objective island and then died in various ways. Instead of spawning where I was, I get kicked back to the main base camp. This is frustrating.

But the vastness of the world is unreal. There is some downfall to this however, as I sometimes find myself wandering off and exploring. I understand that the game encourages this, so it's not really a complaint.

Really digging this game so far.

I loved Far Cry 3. Taking over those bases never got old.

:goodposting:

This game would have been awesome even if it was nothing but capturing bases and doing random exploring.

Have you seen the stand alone expansion coming out early may? Looks fantastic. CAN'T WAIT /Bart Scott

Going to try Far Cry 3 out. I was waiting for some updates (PC version) before getting it but I guess it's been out long enough to have any initial bugs worked out.

GoW is awesome. I forgot how hard some boss battles can be after the ease of ME1-2.

Took me about 25 tries to kill the Giant Bat / Lion / Snake thing in Delphi Temple. Then I had the 3 headed Lion/Dog thing eat my dang lunch

Fantastic worlds and graphics.

Just started playing Deus Ex (yeah I know, it's so 2011) only just started but it has a very cool interface and storyline early on. I hope it holds up. Just wondering do the choices you make during the interactive process (e.g. reason, humble, empathize) change the actual outcomes of the story or merely alter the dialogue?
I did the same. Started it a couple months ago. Got bogged down quickly though and I haven't gone back yet. Was a pretty cool setting with pretty good controls. Not sure if the choices have much bearing later on but they give you points as if they do (i.e. you get "good" or "bad" points towards something). I'll go back at some point just haven't yet.
I just finished my first playt hrough and I really enjoyed this game. The AI can be pretty easy to defeat in combat and the voice acting is often cheesy but this game has great style, story and in game control. Very much worth it and I think it will be worth more than one play through.

Trying out The Walking Dead now. Seems kind of like graphic novel/choose your own adventure but it does a great job building tension by forcing you to respond to story interactions within a very short time frame and looks like the story is heavily influenced by those choices. Haven't fought but two zombies however the combat interface was very frenetic which lent it a disturbing authenticity. I don't think there will be any 'sneak-n-snipe' or 'gunzerking' going on in this one. I think I am going to like this game.

What level you playing on? I found the game insanely easy

Hard. I think I'm out of practice after the ME series.

I was on normal first playthrough so thats probably why.

How much time on average would you guys say you play video games (PC or console not including phone games). Per day or per week I guess.

I'm pretty hit and miss depending on the time of year. I would say I average maybe 2 sessions a week. Maybe 1-2 hours per session. So 4-5 hours per week.

But when I have downtime (summers and xmas vacation) those numbers usually go up.

Used to be a lot more. I'd say 5 or 6 years ago, I'd be pushing 6 hours a day. Now I'm lucky if I have enough energy to go 2 hours a session once or twice a week. And that is usually well after my kids and wife have gone to bed and I'm done cleaning up the house. So if I get a session, it's usually around 11pm till midnight or 1am.

I'm usually good for a few hours on at least one of the weekend days. Usually both. I don't do much during the week though.

Any one heard anything about the Injustice: Gods Among Us? Also I'm still playing Battlefield Bad Co 2. I tried Bad Co 3 and hated it. Any suggestions for a replacement? I really only play online and since my reflexes aren't what they used to be and hate getting scholled by pimply faced teens I mostly hide in the bushes as a sniper. Suggestions?

So Chumley, BFBC2 is a good game?

They have it for like $4 at Gamestop this week. In fact there's a whole list of games that are 50% off at their stores that includes some decent titles (mostly junk, but some decent).

Probably in the 10-12 hour range per week roughly.

I don't have kids (and have a wife who enjoys gaming, too, but more ipad / DS type games), so I get a lot of game time. Typical week would be 4-6 days, anywhere from 1-4 hrs.

I rarely buy video games as soon as they come out (if I do it's usually Madden). Strictly Xbox 360.

I either wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals or for my teenage little bro's "hand-me-downs".

I finished Red Dead redemption (awesome) in January, and am now involved in Skyrim. Possibly my favorite game of all time. Extremely addicting.

I have GTA4 still in the wrapping (haha, got it for like 12 dollars Black Friday). I also have ME2 still untouched. My buddy told me to wait and play the first Mass Effect before continuing.

The 2 games I'm looking forward to "inheriting" from my bro post-Skyrim are Far Cry 3 and Bioshock Infinite. Played Infinite a couple of weekends ago and it is ridiculous.

I don't care for the campaign mode but I do like the online play. It's worth dropping $4 to see if you like it.

Same here, after workout and kids to bed. Between 9-11pm, usually twice per week.

I play about an hour a day M-W-F while my wife is working out in the home gym. As soon as she is done, so am I. Sometimes I will get an hour in the evening if she wants to watch some show that I'm not interested in (like Dallas), but that doesn't happen to often. Weekends are all dependant on what we are doing. Some weekends I have a lot of time, others I have none. Short sessions are the reason I have problems getting in to story games because it is hard to get immersed playing in such short stints.

Be sure to check out the Skyrim thread if you haven't already.

I'm in a similar situation.

I'll play for an hour or so at least 3 days a week while wifey is cooking/running/working out.

Most of the time she doesn't mind if I'm playing games while she's chillin' on the couch or something (she's cool like that), but I don't want to feel like too much of a dork so I'll save my game for later. At my current pace I'll finish Skyrim in 2018 haha.

Cool, thanks.

I have several Skyrim sites/forums bookmarked already. It's such an enormous, deep game.

Yeah there is certainly a lot going on so some web help is good.

By far my favorite online shooter. Fantastic multiplayer. Never finished the single player campaign.

Edit: Of course this game is several years old so I assume if you pick it up now you're probably squaring off against folks who know every inch of every map.

I bought BFBC2 for $5 new at Best Buy today. For that price, I'll give it a go.

I saw Spec Ops: The Line is down to $20 now too. Will have to pick that up after I'm done with Bioshock: Infinite.

I'm the same way, I just can't pay over $20 for a game. I still have Batman Arkham city and Battlefield 3 still wrapped up that I got for $10 a piece. Just don't have the time... Finished GTA4 a couple months ago, it is what it is. I still play COD4 1st Modern Warfare. Tried MW2 and hated it. Uninstalled it.

Yep, If I get in close I get killed with out getting off a shot. I have a lot of trouble playing against friends for some reason, it just won't let me connect. No problem getting into a random game though. Not sure if it is the ea server or not.

My buddy just bought this game for $6 at Target on clearance. Said he logged on for 30 minutes to play and just kept getting shot as soon as he spawned for the entire 30 minutes and gave up.

You are going to love Dark Souls.
I already played last year. I had to restart because was lost and getting my ### handed to me.It's one of the best games I've ever played. A different animal that most people won't like but it's fantastically outstanding.

The combat is ridiculously addicting. I never enjoyed blocking with a shield so much.

Same with me. I typically hate melee and shields in every other RPG but just loved the system here. I actually felt like I was really fighting instead of just pushing buttons. I don't understand why that series affects me like that but I just love the combat system.

I'll have to try it. I've watched my nephews play a few times and to be honest, it looks boring as all hell. Maybe playing it will be different.

The Battlefield series has been known to me as "Spawn and Die" for a reason. You just have to learn where the spawn points are and learn to spawn elsewhere when they're hot. Having the option to spawn directly on squadmates helps. It's still one of my favorite series for multiplayer games.
