Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (12 Viewers)

I'd like to get in line to get Mafia II tonight on Goozex.

Can anyone offer a few tips for success? Last time I tried this my browser kept timing out. Also what time does it open again? 2 AM Eastern?

Goozex is based off of the Central time zone, so 1 AM EST. Don't refresh your browser within 5-10 minutes of it hitting th ehour mark. Go to the "future releases" tab and find the game you are looking for. Hit the want it button on the hour to the second(sometimes it doesn't activate for 1-5 seconds after) and it will go through even though the button is still grayed out.

Just loving Mass Effect right now. I am doing all the side quests and trying to ramp up my armor/weapons as best I can. I do wonder if it is pointless to do so given ME2, but oh well.

:lmao:

You get certain bonuses in ME2 based on your character's ending level in ME1. Plus, a lot of the characters from the side quests reappear in ME2, so there is some benefit there.

Can't wait to see what "The Fan" ends up being. I have the DLC Bring down the Sky, so I am fairly confident I will be about 60 when I end it all. I have pretty much gone pure damage dealer pumping all my points into Spectre, Assault Rifle, Fitness, Combat training, enough into combat armor and now almost maxed Commando. Pretty much just mow everyone down and keep the 2 chicks with me at all times so I can score with them at some point. :hot: :hot:

They have already said that your relationship choices will go all the way through to ME3. Another words, it isn't going to be pretty in the third game because my main character has banged every female possible(6).Also Madcow, I sent you a friends request on live.

Even tough I am a die hard Gears fan, anyone interested in doing some co-op Legendary Halo 3 in the future? I never actually got to play through it with friends and recently was trying to think of other four player co-op games besides my beloved Borderlands. So, any of the Gears crew or other FBGs even still have this game?

The more I read about both NBA2K11 and NBA Elite the more I am leaning towards 2K11.

Elite is being redone from the ground up. Normally it is a 3 year cycle. 2K11 on theother hand has the proven Association franchise mode, Jordan moments, and classic teams this year that you can play in franchise mode. Plus they will be addressing all the AI issues that plauged 2K9 and 2K10. I seea return to glory for 2K over NBA Elite (formerly NBA Live)

I will wait to read some hardcore reviews and I want to play both demos...no doubt.

Great year for Basketball titles as both EA and Sega are going toe to toe.

Also NHL 2011 looks amazing but I will hold off till after the holidays and save 25 -30 bucks.

Haven't seen that one before

Saw some game called "Brink" today. Set for release Spring 2011. Looked interesting.
googled it and liked what i saw. a little bit "borderlands" by the look of it and a little bit "unreal" on some level. lots of potential to be sure.
It was originally set to be an XBLA/PSN release, but now it's set for a full-out game. As an arcade release, it was an instant hit. As a retail, it may get lost in obscurity. Time will tell. It does look fun, though.edit: I may be confusing Brink with another game. I don't think this one was the one that was originally an arcade release. So, that's my post moot.I can't remember which game it was I was thinking of now. This is driving me nuts. Don't you hate when that happens?

Think I am probably 3/4 of the way through ME1 and just got notice that Dragon Age was shipping to me via Goozex. :goodposting: Still about #10 for ME2, but excited for that one, too.

Has there ever been a dev team that was more golden than Bioware? 2 medical doctors that said screw medicine, let's make video games and they just cannot make a bad game - Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic next year.

:lmao:

The only teams I can think of that have a similar quality of production to Bioware is Blizzard over the long haul and maybe Bethesda more recently.

Yeah, Blizzard is pretty much a printing press. Bethesda is good and I have liked many of their games, but they are not quite there, IMO. The pedigree that Bioware has produced is just incredible.

ValveHalf-Life, Half-Life 2 + Episodes, Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, CS: Source, Portal, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, (eta) Day of Defeat, and DoD: Source. I'm not sure if Blizzard's merger with Activision helped them at all and time will tell. Activision has brought nothing to the table that Blizzard didn't already have, unless you count a desire to milk every last cent out of your top franchises.

True enough about Valve.

The Old Republic. Does it have to be a MMO? :lmao:How good was Jade Empire?

Its decent for today's standards but hasn't held up as well as the others. It was one of the last games released on the original xbox and is the Asian spiritual successor to Mass Effect. For me, if I had played it in 2004, it would of been a 9/10. Now its more like a 5/10, and I like SNES/PS/PS2 RPGs, it just didn't hold up well to me.

First reviews (non-professional) are out on Elemental and are not good...yet. From what I'm reading, it needs more patching, but has potential down-the-road. I truly hope so as I'd love to pick this up @ Christmas time!

Are you kidding? Making it an MMO is what is gonna make Bioware legendary. If you don't want the MMO, go back and play KOTOR if you haven't already.

I've played KOTOR a half-dozen times. How much of a commitment is a MMO? I like to be by myself when playing games. How "open" is it is I guess what I'm saying.
You can play an MMO solo. My only complaint is that MMO's have monthly subscription rates.

I hated paying the monthly fee, but I have to admit that WoW was one of the most fun games I ever played... for the 3 months I played it.

I played LOTRO from beta before release to last September. It released April 2007, so about 2 and a half years and loved it. Way too much time thrown into it, but worth it nonetheless. The thing about an MMO that makes it worthwhile is while you are paying monthly fees, you are also not playing and buying other games, so generally you come out OK.

I played City of Heroes from beta for a little over a year, then off and on for another year or more. In total I've played City of Heroes/Villains for more than 2 1/2 years. They now offer a lifetime subscription. I wish they offered that when I started. I didn't mind playing it. But $15/month is ridiculous. I guess that's why I don't really mind XBox Live's cost so much. You have posted more than the allowed number of quoted blocks of text :finger:

Finished the game at only level 45 - is that pretty standard or did I miss a bunch? I did all the side quests that came my way but did not do Bring Down the Sky, which I assumed I would be able to go back and do. Hmm, not so much. I am trying to decide if I should go back and do the game again to get higher level or just wait to do ME2 as it stands.

Dragon Age will be here Monday from Goozex, as well. :excited:

What level you finish at will make no difference on your ME2 play. I think I finished somewhere in that range. Gear and leveling does not cross over to ME2 as weapons and the leveling system are pretty different. The only thing that really caries and your in game story choices.I'd just jump to Dragon Age (one of my favorite games of the last couple years) and enjoy.

Oh, and Bring Down the Sky is nothing too special, just a 2-3 hour mission with a decent armor at the end of it. Fun to play, but I wouldn't restart ME just to play it.

It was my understanding that if you start ME2 with at least a level 50/51 player, there is a credit and XP bonus. True? Like 200K credits and 50K of each resource.

If true I didn't know that. I'm pretty sure the character I started with was below lvl 50.

You do gain a bonus but you have it a bit wrong. And I believe you can get to level 57 in Mass Effect with legit ways by doing everything possible including Bring Down the Sky, but if you beat the game already I would just skip it.ME1 --> ME2 * A portion of the character's Paragon/Renegade points (up to 190 each) are transferred over. * Importing a level 1 through level 49 character will grant 1,000 XP (the player starts at level 2), 20,000 credits, and 2,500 of each resource. * Importing a level 50 thorugh level 59 character will grant 2,000 XP (the player starts at level 3), 30,000 credits, and 5,000 of each resource. * Importing a level 60 character will grant 4,000 XP (the player starts at level 5), 50,000 credits, and 10,000 of each resource. * Having the "Rich" achievement from Mass Effect will grant an additional 100,000 credits.ME2 --> ME2 New Character(Must create a new person or transfer from ME1 after beating ME2 once already to get this. You can transfer from ME1 and receive both sets of bonuses.). * +25% Bonus Experience * +200,000 Credits * +50,000 Iridium * +50,000 Palladium * +50,000 Platinum * +50,000 Element Zero Hope that helps.

Well screw it, I went ahead and ordered the ME2 Collectors from Amazon for $28 shipped. I had a $10 credit sitting there for a video game anyway. I put it on slow free shipping so have some time, but man that game is a ton of fun start to finish. I figured might as well get into the new leveling/gear system with ME2 than play ME1 again if the system is all kaput anyway.

ETA I feel a little cheated having saved all those credits for so long, got to about 5 million, and never even used them. I would have spent them like a mofo if I knew they did not carry over.

It sounds like ME2 is a must-buy when it hits on 1/1 for the PS3.

The thing that ticks me off a bit is that Dead Space 2, Motorstorm: Apocalypse, and Killzone 3 are all coming out within four weeks (or less) of each other (late Jan - Feb). Ordinarily all three of these would be day one purchases for me, but I tend to play just one game at a time until I get burned out on it before moving on to something else. Out of those three, DS2 is easy to pass on, since I can always pick that up several months later without missing anything. Motorstorm and Killzone are both mainly multiplayer games, though, and whichever one I skip is the one I'm unlikely to ever get into. Right now I'm leaning toward getting KZ3 and letting Motorstorm slide, but that's going to be a tough call. I really wish Sony had spaced these two games out a little more.

Looks like Dragon Age will be here today, not Monday. :blackdot:
Take the advice posted earlier and play through each of the intro quests but don't progress beyond that. Then, choose which character and storyline you find most compelling. Each intro quest is probably around 1-2 hours of gameplay.

"infamous" arrived yesterday and i took it for another spin. i remember liking it when it first came out but trading it while there was still a lot of interest. it's another sandbox game and i didn't bother finishing it. as things are a little slow in the new games schedule i thought it might be worth revisiting.

Installing Dragon Age now, still have Fallout 3 sitting here staring at me uninstalled, and ME2 is on the way. :lmao: overload indeed.

I have not played BFBC2 in quite a while.

when is BFBC2 expansion pack coming out?
They do not have any announced expansion packs. They have the joke that is Vietnam, but I cannot see myself buying it at this point. They had booster packs with BF2 which were cool - adding weapons to unlock, new maps and such. Those ran $10 and were a lot of fun. The lack of anything with BFBC2 is disconcerting. It is like they are in Call of Duty mode, also know as Madden mode. Why release a smaller paid update when you can just release an update under the guise of a new full game a year later for full  No updates for BFBC2 so they can crank out the Vietnam game and MOH crapfest.Piss off DICE for that one.

Wow, I just looked over all the new releases for PC for now till the end of the year, and it is an absolute blowfest. I cannot see myself buying any of it, so I guess it is a good time to have all those RPG's ready and waiting.
