I have no dog in this fight and only read this thread with rare contributions, but I do like to read it. Long nested posts like the one below that don't mention any game just make this thread difficult to follow if you don't know that Fallout is being discussed at every turn. There have been a lot of nested posts seemingly identical to this one.

It's a video game thread on a fantasy football forum. It's really not worth a #### either way. It just seems really, really easy to just have a Fallout thread for the enthusiasts of that game to discuss the minutiae of last night's activity. Not sure why that is so burdensome.

Found alien ship. Cleaned out deathclaw sanctuary and got vengence. Love that weapon.

Took it to Paradise falls and killed everyone and freed the slaves. Mad loot. Not a lot of xp. And no karma change. Bummer.

Paradise falls is a dilemma for me. I don't turn slaver but I don't free them either. The way I play (wanderer with few quests) I need the trading posts Once I get their shop outfitted it's a regular stop for me.

I can see that. For me I just decided to go with clearing it out. I kind of hoped dude would still trade but no he was in a kill me mood. I didn't care for that and so I ended him too. Probably should consider the trade aspect next time though.

Setting up the shop is a minor pain (but hey, I got nothing else to do). If you know where to go it's a bit of a fetch quest - but at least to a cool location. If not, it's a fun discovery wen you find it.

How many threads exist without any tangents? That thread will simply evolve another general video game thread and this thread will be worse off for it. Suck it up and learn how to scroll past posts that don't interest you.

Who's fault is it that posters can't figure out to post general video game/PC vs. console/etc. posts in the video game thread and not the Fallout thread? Their own.It's working fine. Stop being the one jack wagon who won't shut up about it.

If a thread about a specific topic goes off on a general tangent, that's fine, as you still know where to post about that specific topic to get it back on track.

If a thread about a general topic goes too far off on a specific tangent, it clogs the entire thread when it's obvious a specific thread tailored to that discussion should suffice. Because all kinds of generic things are discussed in a general topic thread, it's easy to lose singular posts that could be answered or discussed among a buttload of posts only a small niche of posters care about.

Plus, you're ignoring the ridiculous mobile experience of scrolling through epic-sized nested quotes on FBG. This wouldn't be nearly the problem it is if they'd limit it to 3 nested quotes or so.

Again, I have nothing against the FO chatter except that it makes this thread unreadable. Part of that is the website's fault. A couple pages of back and forth about a game brought up in this thread is understandable. Nested quotes filled with novellas about daily FO3/NV journals is ridiculous and needs it's own space.

I wanna hear your cool stories too. I'd rather not try and sift through a wall of quote after quote for 2 pages. If you notice you guys are dominating the thread, please at least stop quoting each other. A lot of times its less then one line of text being quoted, but on your phone, which 90% of us use 90% of the time, you know how redonkulous it looks.

This may read #####ier then I want to convey it. If it means we are going to cause a rift in out little group here then I don't want that either.

It's seems to be going well and I enjoy reading the updates. Its just nice for everyone when some things are separated a little. For example I think back to the tail end of Gears of War 2 and 3 when Steve Tasker and I would post the chronicles of our Gears multiplayer triumphs. Jacinto hammer rushing in annex for me. going 2/1/2 on short side of Gridlock in warzone. Sometimes, actually well quite a bit we would log each match with our scores and a general recap of the gameplay. We found it entertaining and fun, some members of the Gears community (worm, mobbin, dude, barley, etc) enjoyed them and would often join us after we posted live updates an hour or so into a 3-4 hour game session. I can see how things like this or the fallout reports clog up general threads and work better in game specfic ones, like my gears specific one did. Damn, now I want to play gears.

There are plenty of side quests but it is not really an open world game.

Why didn't you get into ME1? Story or gameplay? The game play and controls are much improved in ME2 so I think you should enjoy that aspect. However ME2 is also a story driven game so if it didn't capture you in ME1 it may not in ME2 either.

Dont expect skyrim (All gameplay and no story). ME1 is story driven with emphasis on creating relationships and making choices that affect your universe. The choices you make in ME1 have a lasting affect all the way to ME3. ME2 has improved combat but dumbed down customization and leveling. The story from ME1 really sets up everything happening in ME2. Theres an online comic dlc you can get that lets you walk through the highlights of ME1 but its not the same as playing through it.

How far did you get in ME1? It can be slow at first but it does pick up after Sarens trial.

Not sure if it's the same everywhere but the Destiny PS4 bundle is $30 cheaper than to buy a PS4 alone.

Regardless of if anyone wants a PS4 I think it shows that Sony is putting a lot of resources into the game. I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out.

I do fairly well against human opponents. But when I am forced outside, or in to mutatnt battles (I always seem to be fighting hordes waiting on a boat to arrive) I feel like I am fighting with a BB gun. I've had to lower the difficulty to Easy a few times to finally pass a mission. Throw in the lack of direction, a compass that runs me in circles, and trying to find filters in the dark, I'm just really not enjoying it. I'm on the mission where I need to make it through the swamp to get to the church. But I don't know if I'll be going any further with this one or not. I rarely drop a game without finishing. But this one may be the exception.

On the bright side, I made my first ebay purchase today, winning Dark Souls II in a bid. Looking forward to it's arrival.

Think of it this way, its not about the combat. Its about the story and the conversations. Its about the exploration of a somewhat familar galaxy that is utterly new and interesting. All the while a sinister plot that is so vast in scale it makes you feel insignificant in the weight of what is bearing down on the galaxy and yet you are all that stands in the way of its inevitability. That and once you make it through ME1 the combat is much improved.

Try the second one since you bought the trilogy anyways. If it still doesn't strike your fancy then just move on. It sucks giving up on a game most people love. I'm the same way with The Last of Us. I tried and tried to get into but the combat just drove me insane. I loved Mass Effect though and enjoy the stories of a game more than any other aspect, which is what bothers me so much.

Played the hell out of this over the weekend. It's a souped-up Baldur's Gate that uses action points during turned-based combat. Very good game. Can't call it 'great' yet - the camera angles are a pain (can't rotate it all the way around) and the save/load times are longer than they should be, but the payoff is some great graphics and a lot of original stories and quests. Levelling is slow, which is fine except it can make it hard to find a winnable battle sometimes. All in all very enjoyable.

I never played ME1, but I loved the combat in ME2 and ME3, especially on the highest difficult level. You really have to think about what you're doing and where your party members are located.

I couldn't get past the long and tedious Mako missions . ME2 is better in every way EXCEPT upgrading.

Yea, really enjoying this one. It's a bit rough around the edges (camera rotate / inventory quickslots / selling all could have been done a lot better), and it's definitely not for people who want quest markers and detailed "where do I go next?" help, but otherwise, it's a great game. The combat is excellent - reminds me of X-com with more options.

I would say it's the best RPG of its type (Isometric / party-based / non-clickfest) since Baldur's Gate 2.

Coming from someone who beat ME2 and ME3 and then went back to play ME1, you're right. And it's much improved in ME2 and 3. ME1 was tough to get into and play through and although the story was just as good, it's a game first and the game was tough to enjoy as much as the others. The only thing I liked better was the ability to explore worlds on the rover.

I am back into Skyrim. I sunk about 10 hours in this weekend. LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

Going to DL all the DLC now as well. Once I do finish the main story and finish up the Dark Brotherhood questline (almost done) as well as the DLC I am going to start a brand new character build.

This time I am going to be a Dark Elf Archer/Thief type. Really specialize in poisons, sneaking, archery, light armor, daggers and restoration magic. Going straight to Riften (after some leveling (and hitting Riverwood and Whiterun) and become head of the Thevies guild and go from there.

I don't play a lot of games like this but I got an Alpha invite and played it. Went ahead and pre-ordered. Looking forward to the Beta on PS4 in a couple days.

The Witcher 2 did a nice job providing 16 different epilogues, but ultimately they were just 16 different 2 minute cut scenes. Is that kind of what people were looking for? Different epilogues where the narrative changes depending on the decisions you made?

The Witcher 2 did a nice job providing 16 different epilogues, but ultimately they were just 16 different 2 minute cut scenes. Is that kind of what people were looking for? What annoyed me was that after three games of "choice", you really had very little impact on the ending.

Basically, yeah. For most games, it wouldn't matter that much. But the entire ME franchise was based around the premise that your decision would have long-range consequences, and then it turned out that they really only affect what color the explosion was going to be.

And then there's the part about introducing a new Exposition Man (that little kid) at the very end of the very last game in a way that didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Really, it was just a bad end all around.

Yes. Which the extended cut covered for the most part. They originally didnt have that at all.

I finally installed Skyrim last night and gave it a start. So far it's definitely an elder scrolls game, so feels really familiar. However I can't stand the inventory and shop screens. Usually RPG's have some pretty good inventory management on PC, and it gets a little hacked and difficult on consoles. It feels like they made this one to work well on consoles, and it loses a lot of the features I'm used to on PC. I enjoy the old, "stat" view where you can all the items and their stats on the screen, then you can sort them by different stats depending on what you want to do. Easy to figure out your heaviest gear, or most powerful or what not, by just looking at the screen.

I don't know if I'm missing something, or if I can maybe find a mod that brings back some functionality, but for a game with so much equipment being found/bought, I would think management would be a little better.

Easy to figure out your heaviest gear, or most powerful or what not, by just looking at the screen.

I don't know if I'm missing something, or if I can maybe find a mod that brings back some functionality, but for a game with so much equipment being found/bought, I would think management would be a little better.

Get the SkyUI addon. It will blow your mind.

Picked up Empire: Total War during Steams sale a few weeks back and having a Heck of a time getting started..

Being a person who has played Civilization since day one I figured the turn based government/economy would be easier to pickup and thought this would be a step up with the RTS during the battles..

But dam is this one tough to get going with.. Keep running out of money as GB.. Not to mention France and Spain the last two games have declared war on the 13 provinces so early I end up at war with them well before I would want to..

just found this link today so going to try reading through it and try out their thoughts.. but if anyone has any other helpful tips to play it would be greatly appreciated.

I started playing the original mass effect for the first time a few weeks ago. I was going to ask a question but now I'm nervous.

Couldn't get into ME1 - should I even bother trying ME2? I heard it's better than ME1. is it pretty linear, or can you go explore on your own. I like open world games like . . um . . . Skyrim.

ME1 is story driven with emphasis on creating relationships and making choices that affect your universe. The choices you make in ME1 have a lasting affect all the way to ME3.

Until the ending.

I'm tired of that complaint.

Not that it was super awesome or anything but I am not sure what everyone was looking for. The Witcher 2 did a nice job providing 16 different epilogues, but ultimately they were just 16 different 2 minute cut scenes. Is that kind of what people were looking for? Different epilogues where the narrative changes depending on the decisions you made?

What annoyed me was that after three games of "choice", you really had very little impact on the ending.

Ultimately you were going to have to make a final choice about the reapers and everything else was going to lead up to that, it probably would have sucked if there were no final decision to make at all. From that perspective it seems like that decision was never really related to the other decisions, which were more about getting you to that final point (or related to only a specific subplot). However to be fair if you were to gain or lose an option from that final decision tree depending on a couple of the pivotal choices earlier in the game that might have been a good way to go. Again, The Witcher 2 really did a good job with that, if you made a decision it would open and close other options later in the game. That dynamic really increases replay value IMO.

Basically, yeah. For most games, it wouldn't matter that much. But the entire ME franchise was based around the premise that your decision would have long-range consequences, and then it turned out that they really only affect what color the explosion was going to be.

And then there's the part about introducing a new Exposition Man (that little kid) at the very end of the very last game in a way that didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Really, it was just a bad end all around.

The early game decisions had no impact on the epilogue you choose. While I agree that it would have been nice if your early game decisions would have changed the options (adding or removing them) for that final decision I really didn't have a problem with the three options they gave us. I think the fact that they recycled the graphics for the shockwave blasts (red, blue & green) bothered people more than the actual content of the epilogues.

In terms of sports games, I'm guessing next year will be your last annual installment from EA. I think they cut off the prior generation systems 2 years after the launch of the current gen systems in previous cycles.

Earlier I posted looking for a lower tech vacation game for my laptop. Although I tried a few out, Gave Dev Tycoon ended up dominating that time. Great little game.
