Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

Madden comes Thursday in the mail for me, Stopped playing for awhile but now with a 4-year old - I figure I can get away with ordering some video games!

I'm picking it up too! First Madden I would have bought since the first Xbox. I have played others since, but thought the product overall was subpar ever since they quit having to compete with 2K. This one seems good though, and I actually liked last years version so I'm hoping for good things.

Something about this years madden is a little off. It does look really good but the presentation is little sluggish and I've already noticed a few audio glitches with a repeat of the same line a couple times in a row.

I haven't played very much so I can't tell you if the linebackers can still jump superhigh for the ball trajectory is off like normal

ETA- corrected grammar and many misspelled words, but likely not all of them.

Wife and I booked our 2016 Europe trip over the weekend so I've been getting in the mood by playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. This is the most zen-like experience I've had in a video game. Currently cruising in my tricked out big rig, delivering cargo from Oslo to Bologna, on a scaled down reproduction of Europe's highway system with a stream of some German metal station playing on the truck's radio.

Not the kind of game I'd have pictured myself ever getting into but it's pretty awesome.

FIFA 16. For offline it will be interesting with the USA Women's team. For online hopefully they make it easier (for me) to make people pay for running two guys right at you.
Heard from the beta they slowed the gameplay a ton and ball control and accurate passes mean more than pace. Seems like a good change to me.
Forgot until yesterday that I had a closed beta invite to Fifa 16 for PS3. Got a PS4 a few months ago but fired up the beta for a few games. The new gameplay was nice. Can't put my finger on the differences and the beta ended last night. Guess only a few more weeks of waiting.

Absolutely the most addicting sports game...

I always regret buying Madden. It's fun for a week or 2 and then I get bored. Playing online is almost impossible once nerds figure out the plays that are impossible to defend against.
It's great if you can get into a league of sim guys but increasingly difficult the older I get.

I'm getting it as well, but have no interest in playing online (lag and cheese plays send me over the edge). May see if there is interest in a PS4 draft league. Yep. I play FUT, career, seasons, and manager mode. I stopped playing Fifa15 in June. It was almost all I played for 9 months. I only play 6-8 hours/week. But thats a lot of gameplay on one game.

Bought the Madden bundle (XB1TB drive with 1 year EA service and madden early for 10 hours.

If your going to paris, London, or a few places in Italy then maybe check out the assassin creed game that coordinates with said city. They do a great job on architecture and landscapes compared to the real thing and can be really fun learning a area off of the games. Many of them can be had for cheap except the new london one.

Just finished the Witcher. Great game but the peak moments just didn't hit me enough. There were a ton of times almost randomly that evoked some feels but the big moments just didn't seem to live up to the rest. I'm not sure if it was the story telling or game design or something else but it just seemed to fall short in the biggest moments.

I'm getting it as well, but have no interest in playing online (lag and cheese plays send me over the edge). May see if there is interest in a PS4 draft league. Everyone plays their games offline (hopefully you can see the number of restarts like you could in NCAA; everyone on their honor not to reset if you lose). Can trade with humans but not the CPU. Sim any human games. Could be fun.
Sign me up if you want to do a fantasy draft league. I am down.

Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I also develop sliders (on All-Pro level) vs the CPU so let me know.

Will do, I'll start a separate thread later.

I could be in for this as well. I've never done a draft on Madden, so I would probably totally screw that up.

I believe we were together in a league years ago. It was fun. I would do it again. But I would need an Xbox One first.

It was fun but it only lasted 3-4 games before people lost interest.

I think you're thinking of the APF2K8 league.

Madden10 I think- We finished the year - a guy named Cacksman won by abusing the WR screen play.

I pretty sure I didn't finish the year... Maybe my games were just simulated or something.

Been playing Madden all day. Definitely a good game with some cool new functions in game, but some kinks I hope they work out. Overall it's a good madden

Is there a companion app for this year's Madden? If so what can you do from it? Trade, pick up players, sim games and such?

Bought Madden and so far... eh. Guess I gotta get use to the new features etc. Saw someone say they loved how the running worked, I feel the opposite. What are you guys doing to make the running game "feel" better?

I preordered my madden and it comes with packs? I get the game on Thursday. Is this Ultimate Team fun? I remember reading stories on people blowing tons of money into FIFA Ultimate team. Is it possible to have fun playing Ultimate team without consistantly buying packs to get contracts etc?

I'll likely just do a boring season or play online and get smoked.

Maybe I'll bust out the headset and see if my trash talk game is on par with those 20 years younger.

So do people make new draft classes for the last years madden?
You can actually download updated rosters within the game. I have Madden 15. You can go to "community" and "shared" and find all kinds.

Not sure "community" and "share" are the correct terms as I'm at work and going from memory. Sorry.

For the PS4 we are putting together a sim type league.

Yes I always play Ultimate and I don't spend any money. I do not play online though. The challenges are fun.

I played it on rookie for a bit last night. Haven't played Madden for about five years.

The passing game seems fun and well done. The running game feels...clumsy?

Kind of perturbed that some modes appear to require Gold.

I didn't play a ton last years. I tend to just play the games and not anything else

Seems to be the trend now. I picked up ME3 a couple months ago and was pissed that I couldn't play it because I let me Gold lapse due to inactivity. Not just couldn't play DLC. Couldn't play the game at all. It's infuriating. Had to get XBL again just to play an offline game I've paid over $100 for in game and DLC.

I guess I can agree that $60 is too much for a 10 hour game but there's lots of good games at that time level.

Heavy Rain

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Tomb Raider

Walking Dead
The new Tomb Raider was short but it was more than 10 hrs. I didn't do a completionist play through and it was still in the mid 20s.
If we're going by HowLongToBeat scores, it's just a little over 11 hours to do the main story and 15 to do the extras.

Anyway, I should have said "about" for Tomb Raider as it's a little longer than the others I mentioned - but some criticized it as being short.
Personally I fall more into the Leisure category and I am close to a completionist so I pretty much always get my moneys worth.

Does it still take a long time to download a game on XB1 before you can play?

Trying to see what I should expect when Madden arrives. I don't remember GTA, NHL or any other game I have.

General question for the madden people. In franchise mode how do you guys go about the rookie process where madden generates them. Do you use premade sets that someone else made or just go with the flow of the game. additionally, does that affect the game balance over time if you play a few years of franchise?
