Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Anyone else here play The Golf Club on PS4? Or if I send updates on this am I just speaking into the void?
Thought about getting it on XB1. Is it good? Can you share courses you made and DL others?
It's great if you want a You Against The Course type game. No Tiger-like power-ups or other gimmicks. Just you against the course.

Yes, you can create and share custom courses but I haven't dabbled too much there. It was a very tedious process to me and I got bored of it too quickly.

Gotcah, thanks Tick. I want a 1TB machine, but I don't want Battlefield. We'll see what rolls around come the Holidays.

Also, can you use the PS4s as streaming devices (netflix, etc) yet?
Netflix is on there as well as some others I don't recall off the top of my head. Hulu and Amazon seem to pop into my mind but don't take my word as gospel on those.
I use mine regularly (daily) to stream both Netflix and Hulu. Never have any issues. It's been at least a year of doing so with no problems.

Football season got me longing for some good football video gaming so I fired up Madden 25 on the XBox 360 (that part of the sentence must sound like I'm stuck in the past) and for whatever reason decided to make the games 15 minutes quarters with a fast play #### that goes down to 9 seconds every play by the time I get to the line.

Have to say that playing this game this way is about the most enjoyable way I have ever played the game. The results of the game and the stats are so much more realistic and actually makes the playcalling and strategy so much more fun. I should have done this a long time ago.

ETA: Why is "clock" edited? ....... ah....... type-o. Oops. Didn't mean too. Please don't give me a warning. I really meant clock. As in time keeper.
Please don't circumvent the language filter, guy.

Metal gear question....if I go back into a previously completed mission to complete one of the objectives, does the mission restart from scratch?

I missed some of the objectives in the first mission but don't want to have to through the whole process of rescuing miller again. I just want to do the unfinished objectives and extract. Is this doable?

Early thoughts on star wars battlefront. Pretty much what I expected but definitely experiencing some glitching. FO4 moving back towards primacy

Battlefront thoughts: It's okay. You just have to know what you are getting and keep expectations in check. It's not the old BFs. It's Dice, so ultimately an EA game. Graphics & presentation come first, gameplay second. The game looks amazing. Gameplay is solid if not uninspired.

I do feel however, that due to the lack of planets (there are only 4 in this game), maps, and Clone Wars, that I will tire quickly. Like any other CoD or BF game. 3, maybe 4 months, then trade it in. But we'll see.

I agree. I'm back on Fallout for launch title purchase. It's an okay game but it's far from amazing.

It's cool, but I started playing Destiny this past week.....and that game is awesome. I think I rather time sink into that game over Battlefront.

I may cancel my pre-order for Star Wars.....thinking about it.

This just in...

Shadow of Mordor GOTY edition was a STEAL at $16. Most fun Ive had in a long time. Amazing animations and fluidity of executions. Very well done.

MGS6: I've actually put it down for Shadow of Mordor. Kinda tedious and annoying after the fun I'm having in Shadow.

I want Forza 6 and wish I got that instead of MGS6.

So if I give fallout 4 a spin do I need to have played the others?

I was meh on 3 but now that I'm trying more types of games was wondering if I need to go back

Nah, should be completely separate. There may be Easter eggs or homages, but nothing that'll prevent you from enjoying it.

Just realized Wasteland 2 drops for XB1 and PS4 this week. Awesome old-school RPG (turn-based, isometric, etc.)

Divinity 2 is coming as well. Nice to see these PC RPG games coming to consoles.

So I think I am going to be getting an Xbox One (I think) in the very near future. PS4 seems to be dominating Xbox in sales but I was thinking the Xbox makes more sense if I want to start the process of cutting the cable and turning my PC into a media server. Do people agree with that or is PS4 so much better that I shouldn't worry about how it impacts cutting the cable.

Either way as someone who has been pretty much a PC mouse+keyboard gamer for the past decade how long is it going to take me to get used to using a game controller? Am I going to want to throw it through my television?

It depends what kind of gamer you are.

If you are a hardcore FPS multiplayer computer guy who likes custom, detailed key mappings and prides himself on his awesome kill ratio - it may be a big adjustment, and you may never like it.

Everyone else? No issue at all.

to me, controller / couch / TV is 1000x better than keyboard and mouse.

Nah, that's not me but I do find that on the limited number of times I have plugged a controller into my computer it feels much tougher to control than with my trackball or mouse which offer tremendous precision. It's probably just a matter of putting in some time to get used to a different interface.

Yes, the precision isn't quite as good, but I find that more fun anyway. Many games have an aim-assist option that helps, too.

Once you get used to it, it'll be second nature. And you'll never want to go back to your desk chair for gaming. I was a huge PC-only gamer right up until the 360 dropped, but that console changed me, and I really have a hard time getting into computer games now.

I also just found out Sunday Ticket is available on PS4. I may end up paying someone for their computer subscription and using it on PS4 next year since I plan on dropping Direct TV after the season is over.

I've just never been able to make the move to full console, for me there are just certain games that fit better on one of the other. Couldn't imagine playing one of the action games like Batman or AC on PC, but still prefer PC for most of the bigger RPG's and the occasional FPS.I hate having to decide which system to buy a game for on some of the in between games.

Same as last gen....

PS4 -

+ Better system specs - better game performance and graphics....

= LOUSY interface

- Piss poor online performance.

XBOX One

+ Robust online gaming

= Better interface then the PS4 but for some reason, not as intuitive as the 360's gui.

- Lesser hardware specs then the PS4

If you're hardcore solo gaming there is no reason not to go with the PS4 unless the online updates will annoy you.

If you're doing any online playing I d suggest the XBOne.

Other then that, look at the system exclusives and see if thats a reason to pick one of the other.

PS4's wi-fi is horrid. Or at least that's my experience. I have to have it wired in to do anything. No idea why that is since it sits under my SmartTV that has no issue connecting to the wi-fi and playing Netflix and such.

I'm splitting my games between PC and PS4.

PC: Fallout, Elder Scrolls, XCom...

PS4: MLB15, NHL16, The Golf Club...

For sports games, I like the controller. For RPG and such, I like keyboard + mouse. I also really like K+M as I put some money into the high end Corsair stuff (K95 and M65).

Wait we can? How? I thought they locked that down this year

I thought we were getting an overhaul here at some point.

Other than the current interface (which, IMO, is pretty bad) I like my Xbone. The whole resolution wars thing is hugely overblown (unless you have an 80+ inch screen).

Also MLB.tv on the PS4.

Download the app from the playstation store. Slick interface and way faster than my crappy 8 year old satellite receiver.

Edit to add:

The only problem I have with it is that since it's on playstation I can't swap between the local game and red zone very easily. Most of the Broncos games are afternoon games and there's generally only 3 or 4 of those going on at a time so it's not that big of a deal but it would be nice to be able to watch them all on the one interface.

Thanks. It's tough looking at those side-by-side graphics comparison videos online and not want the PS4 but I doubt I would notice the difference IRL.

Most of the exclusives mean nothing to me but Last of Us is one I really want to play and Horizon Zero Dawn looks very interesting too. For Xbox I have never played Halo and Quantum Break also looks like it will be very cool. Tough call...again.

Any thoughts if one or the other is better for a wannabe cord cutter? I was thinking it would be easier to stream media from my PC through an Xbox but a Roku stick + Plex does just fine for that too. IIRC I need to pay for Plex+ if I want to hook it up to the Xbox but I could be wrong.

Man cave in the old house was a 108" screen. Full 7.1, subwoofer flat to 16Hz (built it myself). Shook the house. Best video game setup ever.

I have a 117" screen but my projector died. Haven't gotten around to replacing it. I'm guessing prices have come down, I should look.

Anybody know if coop is still around? I bought one from him at projector people.com.

Coop was awesome.

Just finished XCom Enemy Unknown. Super cool game. That last mission on the alien ship took me a few times before I had figured out how to setup my troops properly to defend against those three #####es.

Good lord what a cool game. Firing up Enemy Within shortly. Super, super cool game, great story line, just well done overall. I can see myself coming back to this to beat again or try different challenges.

I'd love an actual Star Wars game, with a single player (or co-op even) story but if it's just CoD: Endor then I'll pass.

Love me some XCom. One thing to be aware of, since you are playing it back to back, is that EW on most levels is just the same story, like exactly the same story*, with new abilities/mechs/mods etc. added. However don't be discouraged into thinking that "It's just the same game", it will definitely throw some highly cool (and frustrating) new twists at you and is definitely worth it.

*There are a couple interesting additions to the story line but you are going to be seeing the exact same story animations about your current objectives etc.

I know I'm only 4 years late, but I just picked up and started the Skyrim GOTY version.

I'm a female warrior named Brienne. she's a big Nord, with a big sword, and an unwavering sense of honor & duty.

she also doesn't cook, because #### carrying all that stupid food around.
