Is this in real time?Me with No Mans Sky so far. No idea what's happening. Shoot things, get resources, repair ship, inventory full, fly into space, found Space Station icon, arrive in 1 hour from time of this post.
Shoot some asteroids every now and then. I don't think I was supposed to leave the planet so early. So what do you do for an hour?
I don't really see how spoilers are possible from what I know about the game.Kanil said:I tried not to watch any videos other than the official trailer before the game came out to try to avoid as many spoilers as possible.
Don't expect it to be in the discount bin so soon. The game has a massive following.I don't really see how spoilers are possible from what I know about the game.
I watched a stream on and off yesterday and decided not to get it. The game will cost $30 in two weeks on the 2nd hand market. I'll still probably pass then as it seems you have to sink in tons of time to have any real progress or fun.
The bigger the following, the more copies sold, the more copies that flood the 2nd hand market once people realize they didn't like it as much as they thought. The more the merrier.Don't expect it to be in the discount bin so soon. The game has a massive following.
Yea, I was mildly interested, but I'm going to have to see some kind of change in the gameplay before I buy it - grinding resources so you can upgrade so you can grind more resources as the main activity seems mind numbing. Looking at twitch feeds, it seems like we've seen the entire game already. Will there be a point where you stumble upon warring factions, need to choose sides, do some quests, etc, or is what we've seen it - you're alone, there are planets with stuff, and you keep doing that.I don't really see how spoilers are possible from what I know about the game.Kanil said:I tried not to watch any videos other than the official trailer before the game came out to try to avoid as many spoilers as possible.

This game sucks.Whomever plays No Man's Sky and is the first to name a planet Shuke, I will buy you a beer.
ETA: If it's a black ice planet, double maybe even triple beer points.
You can use the pulse drive and b there in like a minute.Me with No Mans Sky so far. No idea what's happening. Shoot things, get resources, repair ship, inventory full, fly into space, found Space Station icon, arrive in 1 hour from time of this post.
I don't know if there are enough people playing it. If I'm cluttering the thread I can stop if people want me to. If someone wants to start a NMS thread I'd hop in it.Do we need a thread for No Man's Sky? We seem to have a separate thread for most AAA titles.
I was mainly asking for the others, my copy arrives on FridayI don't know if there are enough people playing it. If I'm cluttering the thread I can stop if people want me to. If someone wants to start a NMS thread I'd hop in it.
and I've made numerous posts about the game before I've even played it.
I dunno. I dont look at this as a multiplayer game. I see it as a single player experience in a shared universe. The size of the universe makes it so that if I do stumble upon a planet or something someone named, it's a huge discovery. I kind of like that carrot-on-a-stick.I thought the game sounded really lame, but upon reading some of the reviews I am actually fairly intrigued. The major disappointment for me is the fact that you cannot see other players in game. The developers made it sound like it was possible, although extremely unlikely due to the scale of the game. Seems like it would be more interesting having a smaller scale and being able to interact with other players.
There's been some teasers in trailers about 'the center of the universe' and unlocking what's behind it all. So I assume there is an end game. Although that is not really clear to me either. Will let you know after I got 1000+ hours.I ask this with the utmost sincerity and not knocking anyone that may enjoy it
What's the actual point? Is there an end game? Does it infinitely go on?
Serious question - I'm just curious on the whole thing
I've also seen references to a "Main Quest" that kind of leads you through the various progression paths. There's been some teasers in trailers about 'the center of the universe' and unlocking what's behind it all. Noone knows, not even the developers. They're making it up as they go along and seeing what they can pull off. They've already made promises they couldn't/didn't keep so you really won't know for sure until you play.I ask this with the utmost sincerity and not knocking anyone that may enjoy it

The basic quest line is that you are following directions for Atlas. Atlas is some energy(?) thing that you touched and feel connected with. You get you prompts to follow from it, in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. I guess right now I'm trying to find "Nana" and someone else? My prompts are to upgrade my booster pack but I've already created it and the mater it wants me to produce I have 6 off. So I guess my game is broken, until that glitch is fix by the devs.I ask this with the utmost sincerity and not knocking anyone that may enjoy it

They made the mistake of using very broad terms like quintillions of planets, endless universe, etc which leads people to set their own lofty, and unrealistic expectations. They've already patched in a number of incredible game changing features a day after release. There's no reason to think they're "making it up as they go along" and dont have any long term goals for the game.Noone knows, not even the developers. The fact that they "already patched in a number of incredible game changinig features a day after release" is exactly what makes me think they're making it up as they go along. I'm sure they have long term goals for it and maybe everything is going according to plan... but we've got guys standing on the same planet at the same time and they can't see each other. Maybe it's just technical difficulties. But more likely it's that it's not in the game... even though the devs constantly said it would be, with the caveat of, "it doesn't matter as there's only like a 1% chance people will ever run into each other". Perhaps they thought they'd have more time to patch in the incredible game changing features they promised from day 1 later. They made the mistake of using very broad terms like quintillions of planets, endless universe, etc which leads people to set their own lofty, and unrealistic expectations. Agreed. But they don't normally include, "incredible, game changing features". Maybe that's all hyperbole and it just patched a couple bugs though.Meh D1 patches are pretty standard now.
I've seriously beaten that game 30+ times. Of course I'm buying the latest remaster. I'll buy it at a high price.RE4 is a classic but I assume everyone played it already. Nothing beats that game on the Wii.
Is it worth playing on the PS3? Is it worth it if you haven't played any of the previous ones?I've seriously beaten that game 30+ times. Of course I'm buying the latest remaster. I'll buy it at a high price.
While somewhat true, I think this game doesn't hold your hand either. You could gear your ship up as a fighter and start attacking/pirating other ships. But the game hasn't actually told me this. You can also make money from finding new solar systems, planets, areas and then uploading them. Same with plants, animals and rocks but you have to take pictures of those. What’s here just doesn’t have enough good mechanics and shows no signs of evolving into something better, and right now is too frequently repetitive or frustrating.
I personally rather have it kept here. I'd probably never check out the "official" thread to read about a game I might be interested in. If it's talked about here, curiosity remains alive.I was mainly asking for the others, my copy arrives on Fridayand I've made numerous posts about the game before I've even played it.

It's definitely fine as a stand-alone title. The main character was also the main guy in RE2, but that doesn't really matter. The story has nothing to do with previous installments. Is it worth playing on the PS3? Is it worth it if you haven't played any of the previous ones?
The controls are why I still haven't played through RE4 all the way. I really want to, buts it's infuriating. It's definitely fine as a stand-alone title. The main character was also the main guy in RE2, but that doesn't really matter. The story has nothing to do with previous installments.
Obviously I think RE4 is a fantastic game, but do be warned that the controls are extremely dated and can be hard to get used to since we now all have "standard" TPS controls burned into our muscle memory.
