Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (7 Viewers)

Really digging Mass Effect so far. It's kinda like Fallout 3 except in space, and Fallout 3 is probably up there for my favourite game ever.A few questions for those who played it on PC:

1) Can you pause cut scenes and can you speed up the cut scenes/conversations? Really surprised I haven't been able to figure out how to do either of those things, one would think they are both kind of essential.

2) How do I improve the bodies of the characters in the game? It's really strange, the environment and the character faces are both exceptional, but for some reason the bodies of all the characters have like super nintendo graphics, there's got to be a way to fix that.

Hitting "X" will speed you through the cutscenes, I believe.

Just bought Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Haven't played Lego Harry Potter in some time but should pick that back up so I can get all of the characters and red blocks. I am missing something in that game though. I am making it more difficult to add characters than it should be. Ugh!

Amped for Mass Effect 2: Arrival in the next few days. I was late to the party with the game itself (thanks to being a PS3 guy), but it's phenomenal. Just looking to get a little bit more of the story to tide me over.

Tried that but didn't work. I assumed you meant for the Xbox, but it convinced me to keep trying to find a button. Turns out it's spacebar to speed through cut scenes on the PC. Don't know how I didn't try that earlier :paperbag:

Currently playing Bioshock 2. Fun game.
I enjoyed both the single player and the multiplayer. I got more hours out of multiplayer I think.
I don't really like the multiplayer. The single player story isn't as good as the first but the gameplay is top notch so far.
The Minerva's Den DLC is worth a look when you are done. It's a whole separate single player campaign where you play as a different Big Daddy, Subject Delta. It's shorter than the main campaign but a lot of fun and has a good storyline and new plasmids and achievements.
Minerva's Den is a great DLC if you enjoy the campaigns of Bioshock 1 & 2. Steve Tasker also really liked it. It doesn't even feel like a DLC very much. Its a different story with different characters, but it feels right, unlike many DLCs.
Thanks for mentioning Minerva's Den. You just reminded me I DL'ed it awhile ago when it was on sale. Oddly enough, I finally beat that about a week ago and forgot then.

Playing right now:

Medal of Honor: Airborne. For whatever reason, I keep playing through this one. Reset all the weapons and roll!

Madden 11. Despite Madden 10 being vastly superior in every way, I'm in a 3 man franchise about to finish our 3rd year.

And I'm attempting to play a PC game called Blitzkrieg 2, but its not working.

On the back burner:

Dragon Age.

Figured out that I had to exit the game for the texture changes to take effect, so that solved the poor graphics on character models issue.

My son is only about a year and a half so My Xbox has been collecting dust in the entertainment center cabinet. If I pull that thing out that little ******* would just go press the power button every two seconds.

So I but out the Wii every once and a while. He likes to watch me play that, its like a cartoon to him.

I just keep playing Mass Effect 1/2 over and over right now. I've never tried Dragon Age, does pretty much everyone who like ME recommend it?

I liked ME but would NOT recommend Dragon Age. I thought the controls were just too complex (I just like to sit down and PLAY) and the story really didn't grab me at all.

I disagree about not recommending Dragon Age, but I will say they aren't very similar games.

As far as I can tell, I'm in the minority about DA.

Anybody familiar with DOSBox?

I'm trying to run Ultima IV: The Black Gate.

I'm getting the same #$%&@!#$^ error message I got years ago about turning of extended memory manager and it wont run.

Mass Effect fans....playing the first one......

Is there anyway to save Wrex? While that certainly threw me for a loop...I thought it was a bit shortsighted of the game developers to not allow you the option of helping the guy...particularly after they gave you the option of helping the Rachni queen (which I did). Without really spoiling it...does this stuff (choosing the fate of other teammates) happen again in the game?

Depends on how much he likes you. IIRC, If you are friends w/ Wrex, you can talk him down. I *do* think you have another choice to make later.

Bioshock has been temporarily shelved. Fallout 3 started. Glad I did. Not very far into it but I can tell that I will enjoy it.

Crysis 2? Good stuff??
I'm only a few hours into the campaign so it's really just getting going but I'm loving it so far. Tight controls, incredible graphics. You truly feel like a super-powered killing machine in a way that no other FPS I've played has captured. Smart use of powers allows you to do some insane things, but you'll die quick if you make a mistake with them (playing on Veteran difficulty).Put a few hours into MP and am absolutely getting my ### handed to me. Imagine COD gameplay with Halo: Reach armor powers. Stealth, super speed/jumping, enhanced armor. Every player has all three every game, plus perks I haven't unlocked yet. It's pretty crazy. They all drain energy quickly so you need to be smart in when/where you use them.

Dead Island looks like it's going to be a lot of fun...I hope it doesn't fall on it's face (Nov '11).
Doesn't November of 2011 put it up against Elder Scrolls, Gears, and Uncharted? That doesn't seem like a good marketing decision for a new IP.
Add on Batman Arkham City, and Rage too.
Gears 3 is in September. I don't see that big of an issue with Dead Island around the Nov. time period. It doesn't really compare to Elder Scrolls, Uncharted, Batman, or Rage. I can see it being a hit like Borderlands turned into. Not a whole lot of pub compared to the big titles, but the gameplay and fun factor could make it awesome. Here's some things that have me excited.- Drop-in, drop-out online co-op story mode.- There will be RPG elements, which includes increasing stats and gaining new abilities and animations- There will be “hundreds of side missions”- Each character represents a different class. Sam B is the tank. There will also be an assassin, leader and jack of all trades.- There are different types of zombies. Vessels are slow, shambling zombies. Infected are fast, agile zombies. Suiciders are zombies that explode. There are also more types to be revealed later.- Zombies will respawn. There are mechanics to make them feel like they wandered into the area.- The player should never be overwhelmed from all directions by zombies. We don't really have a clue on how the game will be played yet due to lack of info, but the potential for a great co-op game is there.

Started Arkham Asylum. Great graphics and cool concepts but I'm not a big fan of the God of War style gaming. It's okay, it just doesn't thrill me. I'll keep playing because the game looks so cool but I don't feel as though I'll finish it.

I also have Red Dead Redemption about 1/4 played through and I don't think I'll get back to it. Recently picked up Bioshock used so that's waiting for a play through - just haven't had the urge to do it.

This is the same kind of game malaise I went through after Fallout 3. Vegas is no diferent. I just love those games so much that others pale in comparison for me and I have a hard time getting back into something. Any suggestions? I'm thinking ME2 or DA2 but both seem to tone down the rpg elements that I really enjoy in favor of more action gameplay which I don't.

I've also been waiting for an online shooter to catch my eye - haven't played one since MAG but everything coming out seems to be flawed in some way (not that MAG wasn't)

Nascar and Tiger Woods landing on door step tomorrow!! :excited:

Nascar Xbox 360

TW - PS3 - (sucker who bought Collectors Edition)

I'm not sure how much RPG you like, but I thought that ME2 was more story than action (the action was fun though). Maybe it's that the action fits so well within the story.

Anxious to hear the review. Played the demo last night and I have to say that I wansn't blown away. Doesn't look that much different than '07.

I haven't bought one for a couple year, 09 for the wii I think.99% of this purchase was for Augusta... so anything will be new to me :)

I have a few games on the way.

Red Dead Redemption

Mass Effect 2

Batman: Arkham Asylum

The Orange Box

Red Faction Guerrilla

Just need to finish Bioshock 2. Will probably fire up Batman first since it is shorter than RDR and ME2

Actually Mass Effect is almost nothing like Fallout 3. Not just the fact that it is set in space versus apocalyptic Earth, its 2 completely different atmospheres. One gives you a complete sense of isolation and survivalism and the other is an epic action adventure across the galaxy. One is completely open to explore and the other is pretty linear in nature. To progress you have a set course to follow in Mass Effect while Fallout is completely up to the user to play as they wish. Then you have the fact that Fallout is basically a FPS while ME is more of a 3rd person shooter with RPG elements. The 2 games couldn't be more different if they tried to be. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, Wrex can be saved. As JWB said, you have to make sure you do all the extra discussions with him during the game to make him like you and then when the cutscene occurs with him being enraged, you have the clout to talk him down.

Yep. And you have to be a bit aggressive with him in the conversation to talk him off the ledge. He likes straight talk.

With my twins being 2 months old, I have a lot of time at night keeping an eye on them while they sleep in between feedings. I busted out my Playstation again and have been running through the classics. Did RE1 and RE2 in about a week. RE3 wasn't as fun as I remembered.

I'm now playing Legend of Dragoon again. Man that game was underrated. I feel its better than FF7 which gets so much acclaim. The fact that it was made by sony, a first party developer, is IMO why it got a bad rap back then. The game is better than most JRPG's Ive seen over the years. The story is epic. The characters are likeable and memorable. The battle system was unique and innovative. The enemies were epic (depending on your level by the time you fought them). There were numerous sidequests to go through which for a JRPG is not very common. A truly forgotten gem from the PSX.

Anyone heard anything good/bad about MLB 2011? How's the simulation around it?
I'd be interested as well. I haven't liked a Baseball game since MVP 04. The fact that I could control an organization from single A to majors was awesome. Haven't found a game like that since but of course I haven't really been looking.

Demo'd Shogun 2. Did not like.
Good to know. Have you tried Gratuitous Space Battles before? They have a new campaign mode which allows perpetual fleets which is a fun little deal. I assume you have played Medieval 2, as well?
Never heard of Gratuitous Space Battles but I'm not a big fan of crazy space weapons... but I'll look into it. I've liked pretty much all of the Total War games (Rome, Medieval, Empire) but had never even heard of Shogun. Are there anymore Age of Empires games coming out? Or single player Warcraft?

Just traded in an unopened copy of MOH:2 (not a big war gamer) for Fallout: New Vegas and will pop it in the 360 either tonight or tomorrow night. Sooo incredibly amped after all the awesomeness I've heard about it :football:  :banned:

I have heard good things about The Show, bad things about 2K11. Just general feelings. Apparently career mode in the Show is incredible.

I'm prettymuch a single-player only gamer, and I'm liking this one a lot. If you ever wanted to "play" the Preditor, this is your game.

So the Show is Sony's first party game, right? Guess I'll have to get a PS3 if I want to play a decent baseball game again.
