I am always on the look out for older cheaper games that have a sequel coming.
Has anyone played Darksiders?

A lot of frustration too as your AI companions tend to ignore your suggestions to get to cover just long enough to get annhilated. Early on, I was fighting one on many battles a lot.ME2 is a totally different game if you play it on Insanity. When I played it the first time on whatever "normal" is, I thought the combat was pretty boring and repetitive, since it just amounted to taking cover and spamming incinerate/overload/warp until everything was dead. Replaying it on Insanity was way more fun and required a much more thoughtful approach to combat and squad selection.I'm sure I'll finish tonight. And I'll shed a tear.
Not sure if I'll go back through and play on a harder difficulty + renegade.

I bought it on steam awhile back and had the same reaction. At this point it's only a step above Wolfenstein(PC).'Andy Dufresne said:I have a copy of the original PS2 game Deus Ex. Does anyone want it?I bought it in anticipation of the new Deus game but after playing for about 30 minutes, the graphics are just too far behind for me and I know I won't finish it.
A lot of those 90's and early 2000's PC games were awesome at the time but haven't held up well at all. Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight is awful with its wonky polygon faces. System shock 1 is almost unplayable. Graphics aren't everything but they certainly add to the gameplay when you're not focused on how bad they are.I bought it on steam awhile back and had the same reaction. That's another one I tried. And there's no "almost" about it.Something must have changed around 2001/2002 though because Jedi Outcast doesn't look terrible at all.A lot of those 90's and early 2000's PC games were awesome at the time but haven't held up well at all. Give it another 5 years. The next systems, whenever they do come out, are going to be photo realistic. They're approaching it now on these systems. Once that happens....Gamechanger.That's another one I tried. I say that by 2020 we'll have fully 3D immersive games (put on the goggle headset and scan your environment by turning your head, etc).Give it another 5 years. The next systems, whenever they do come out, are going to be photo realistic. Do you have any buddies that have either one? That's the one you should get. Get whatever your friends have.If you have no B&M gamer friends, then buy an xbox if you plan to play a ton online, buy a ps if you want the blu-ray.That is my few sentence summary.I've been a PC Gamer for about 5 years now. What's the best one to buy, today, if I'm considering PS or Xbox? Or is there a new one out there now?
I think that's about right. If you're planning on playing multi-player then I think the Xbox is your system. If you play single player and are looking for a multi-function workhorse then the PS3 might be the way to go.Do you have any buddies that have either one? That's the one you should get. DS1 on PC or console? If on the PC, are you using a gamepad, ala 360 controller? I've heard that it's a game that absolutely needs a gamepad to play. True?I think so. Pretty sure I peed myself. You're crazyStarted Dead Space last night... lights down, volume up.
If sitting in a big comfy office chair, surround sound headphones on and surrounded by 3 28" LCD's to give 5760X1200 resolution is wrong, then I don't wanna be right.'Worm said:360. Couldnt imagine playing games like this w/o my big tv and surround sound. Keyboard, mous, and monitor just seems wrong.

cred should be revoked. This is what I get for moving from the sticks to a major college town and having the apartment with the 2nd story deck overlooking the pool and spa a 1/2 mile away from campus and downtown scene.....

Where do you live now?I'm pretty sure Manback has been living the dream out on a lake and has barely picked up the controller in like 4 months.I've played Gears probably twice in the last two months and have barely played video games otherwise (and probably none in the last 2 weeks whatsoever). Still, though, I'll probably be on for a last-minute "get back into the swing of things" run next week and will be back in full effect on the 20th....I would like to say I'm sorry to Manback, Worm, Pete, Barley, CJ and all my other FBG gaming friends. Dead Island has been on my table for 3 days now and its still in the plastic. I forgot that GoW3 was coming out this month. Mycred should be revoked. I saw Manback playing it the other day. I was going to send him a chat invite but I didn't want to bug him to pic up his headset as he was only in chapter 1 of the game.I finally started Dead Space 2 and have made it through the first two chapters. Seems like it's pretty much exactly the same game (not that I'm complaining), but with less of that edge-of-your-seat and what's-around-the-next-corner feeling and more nonstop action/assault. That was probably the best way for Visceral to play it with this sequel since the atmosphere is familiar this time around. Looking forward to making my way through this game.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but HFS, Dead Island looks badass. Anyone planning to pick this up?
I was very excited about it but the reviews say it's a repetitive hack 'n slasher with a rather boring storyline and quests. Doesn't seem to have lived up to the "Fallout with zombies" I had hoped for. Still, if you like killing zombies in creative ways you'll probably have fun with it.Not sure if it's been mentioned, but HFS, Dead Island looks badass. Anyone planning to pick this up?
Have any FBGs weighed in with reviews of this game yet? I've read some really positive reviews elsewhere... thinking I may drop the $35 on this.

I love the game, just wish I had more time to play it (only halfway through).Have any FBGs weighed in with reviews of this game yet? I've read some really positive reviews elsewhere... thinking I may drop the $35 on this.
Why?Just about done with Deus Ex. Love the stealth aspects and the many path choices when trying to achieve a goal. But the boss fights suck. Big time. It ruins an otherwise great experience.
I would like to hear more about this too. Deus Ex is one that I'm going to have to put off for a while because of all the other stuff coming out soon, but it's definitely one I'd like to pick up later on. I've seen lots of reviews that complained about the boss fights though. Why?Just about done with Deus Ex. Love the stealth aspects and the many path choices when trying to achieve a goal. Thank you very much for reminding me of this. I'm a sucker for a deal so I was close to pulling the trigger. Because the game encourages stealth play. The majority of XP are awarded for silent takedowns finding hidden paths and pretty much trying to avoid getting bogged down by firefights. So of course you build you build character in that manner. However all the boss fights are heavily combat oriented, and you wind up walking in with a silenced 10mm pistol. They're just out of place and unbalanced and stand out in a seamless experience.'STEADYMOBBIN 22 said:Thank you very much for reminding me of this. You can gain a lot of XP by hacking and you can also spend Praxis points to carry more weapons (my main one right now is a laser sighted . You don't have to do silent takedowns for XP and in fact I rarely do. Even if you are playing the stealth style it doesn't mean you can't keep finding upgrades to your weapons - upgraded handgun and combat rifle are enough for the bosses. I think the complaints about the bosses is simply that the game is hard as hell unless you're playing on easy.Because the game encourages stealth play. Been a 360 guy since Halo3 when I first got a system.I traded in my XBox and stuff for a PS3 when GameStop dropped their price to $249.99 from $299.99.It was actually cheaper for me to trade in my Xbox, controller, rechargeable batteries and charger, my only game left (Dragon Age) - and buy a PS3 rather than pay for stupid Xbox Live. Now I've got Madden, NCAA, and will be getting CODMW3. I have had no issues with online yet, and my Netflix is free (whereas you need XBox Live Gold subscription in order to access your Netflix on XBox - that really pissed me off).I used to swear by Xbox, but there's no way I would go back now. I wish I had changed sooner (although by waiting I did get the cheaper price for a nicer PS3 model)Do you have any buddies that have either one? That's the one you should get. You have to admit they're out of place though. I've since used my Praxis points to max out my dermal armor and inventory capacity. And now I always carry one heavy duty gun and frag grandes just for bosses. The rest of the time I use stealth. The point is the game says play how you want the choice is yours yet it leaves you no choice with the bosses and forces you to develop your guy a certain way.You can gain a lot of XP by hacking and you can also spend Praxis points to carry more weapons (my main one right now is a laser sighted . And I fully expect to get 3 years of gameplay out of this one as well.:wings::chainsaw:Gears 3, 7days 11hrs 23 mins away. That is all.
FWIW, I've had nearly the exact opposite experience.I own both systems, and I think Worm really said it best above. I have a much better internet now but way less time to play with 8 month old twins. Going to be a tight rope to walk. Either way, I'll be playing this more than Gears2. Gears 1 consumed literally 6+months of time in total of my life. Probably won't get there again. And I fully expect to get 3 years of gameplay out of this one as well.:wings::chainsaw:Gears 3, 7days 11hrs 23 mins away. That is all.
Do you still have Gears 2? I've been trying to get the gang back together for some multiplayer in the week leading up to Gears 3. We should play...but I don't think I have your gamertag.I have a much better internet now but way less time to play with 8 month old twins. Going to be a tight rope to walk.
