Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

please tell me one of you has purchased and loves Two Worlds II. Sorta liked the first one, but the choppy frame rate made it unplayable. 2 looks simply amazing and I hope it's improved.ETA - Just watched a few video reviews on YT. Seems like a good wait and buy. These RPG's tend to drop in price fairly quick. I bet it can be had for $30 within a month or two since the first one did so poorly. The Monsters look incredible. Looks like my kind of RPG, despite a few hiccups.
I just finished it (Xbox 360). I loved it. Well worth your time if you like good RPG's.Nice combat, good character development/etc. The only complaint I have in the game is the loot: it's all prettymuch generic loot - you "make" items better by forging/upgrading them w/ crystals. But there's no finding that one-of-a-kind magic blade that does x and y.
This is good to hear (outside of the loot). How many hours did you get out of the game? How was the online play? Do you just get paired up with anyone who is online at that time for the quest or do you have to do it with a friend?
I didn't play online at all, so I can't comment there. I got about 30 hours out of it. But I don't think I finished everything I could have.
I just rented this via my free game coupon from Blockbuster. I'll give a review later this weekend after spending some time with it as well.
Jesus H. Christ this was horrid. The graphics are wretched, there are an immense amount of issues re: collision detection. I just could not get into it due to those two things. Now, if I got a game that was released years ago, I'd know that going in and wouldn't have high expectations on the graphics aspect, but for a new game?!?! Inexcusable.Totally could not get into this game at all. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Are you sure you didn't play Two Worlds, not Two Worlds II? Because the graphics are well done in this game, the combat is solid, and the story is decent. Nothing ground breaking but it is a very solid action rpg game.
Nope, it was TWII. Hell, just watch the intro again. It's laughable for the game to be this bad. Impossible to get into it due to the graphics being so poor and the lack of collision detection. And the controls seem as though you're directing your character as opposed to actually playing as him. What I mean is there is a delay from the time you make an input until your PC does what you 'direct'. Just a waste of a good coupon :sadbanana:

Dragon Age 2 just came out today. That should just about kill any spare time I'll have for the forseeable future.
Reviews are a little all over the place. Gamespot (8.0) really didn't like the changes to the inventory system and combat mechanics, and thought the story was medicore. PC Gamer (94) was effusive, and IGN (8.5) was also very positive. I'm a little disapointed that it appears Bioware didn't produce a story that was 100% to its standards, but I'm also encouraged by the move toward the Mass Effect style of gameplay.

Word is that DA2 has been dumbed down so unfortunately I'm going to pass on that one. Looking forward to Total War: Shogun 2 which comes out next week. Easily my favorite game series.

It is impossible to score on NHL11. I am the Pens and am getting 20+ shots, but losing games 2-0.
Seriously.
I only play Be A Pro Mode but only score empty netters :)
:lol:It's kinda tricky to score once you're starting out, but eventually it gets easier. I'd advise playing online, getting your ### kicked by some teenager who plays 10 hours a day, and see how he scores on you. Some plays/shots lead to goals more often than others, by watching someone else score a bunch on you, you end up seeing some of these high % shots that lead to goals. Then practice using them in games and eventually it won't be too hard to score.

I also notice that on several occasions I have a man open, and I pass to him for a one-timer, but instead of the pass going to the open man, it goes into the opposite direction. Frustrating as hell.

I had a few posts on this game about 4 or 5 months ago. The controls were so disappointing to me. This game was really overhyped.

In the options you can change back to classic controls. Though the newish controls (the ones they've been using for a few years now) isn't all that bad once you get used to it. Though I still struggle to do dekes, I was able to master one move which is now my go-to move. But some of these teens that play are able to dangle like crazy, maybe small fingers are a necessity, i don't know. As for passing, you do have to aim your passes. I've never had it happen that a pass went the opposite direction that I intended it to go, but once every game or 2 a pass I'll miss a pass to a wide open player despite it feeling as if I aimed it properly right at him with my controller; can't really explain why that #### happens.

Picked up The Show 2011 - Best baseball game ever. Skipped 2010. Had been playing 2009. So happy I upgraded. Insanely good.

Dragon Age II - I have not started this yet as I am 40 hours into DA Origins. So probably will get to it in about 3 weeks.

Still playing NBA2K11 in my second 82 game association with the Heat. Won the title battling through 3 series that went all 7 games. Still one of the very best sports games of all time along with....you guessed it The Show 2011.

i still cant believe MLB 2k11 has not one review out yet and it was released on Tuesday

wanted to see if it was any good before picking it up

I'm in my rookie season with my created player, on my way to rookie of the year. Averaging 28 pts, 9.9 reb, 6 assists a game. Not too shabby for a rookie that started the season with a 73 rating coming off the bench.

I have read over on the OS Forums that is plays a solid game of baseball, presentation is top notch, and they improved upon last years.

Is homefront any good?
Drops next week.
Thinking about picking this up if the reviews are good. Also wanted a head count from FBG's to see if we will have a bunch of us on it.
I liked what I saw from a multiplayer vid. Lots of cool new ideas for killstreaks and such. I plan to get it but probably not for a few weeks at least. Maybe April.
Okay, may have changed my mind. Just saw a campaign vid and it doesn't look very good. The MP vid I saw was from a distance so it covered up some of the warts. Good ideas for MP but maybe not worth a purchase.

I hate how so many shooters are trying to copy the COD mold for instant profits. It does work, but the products produced never feel right. I commend Halo, Killzone, Gears, and Battlefield for sticking to what made them great and giving some variety to the genre.

I tentatively plan to pick it up, but probably not until it drops $10-$20. Primarily looking for the single-player campaign, so that time will also give me insight into whether it will be worth it or not. For multiplayer, I can't see investing time in anything but BF, regardless of how bad I am there.

I love the game but still have no clue why they refuse to add icon passing like the faceoff series had.

So I did a pre-emptive strike with my 360 and got a new 250 GB version (got lucky and found a place that had the holiday bundle for the same price as the regular system). I used a $25 coupon to get it for $274.99 shipped and used a $10 facebook Tigerdirect coupon to get the HD transfer kit for $6 shipped.

:hifive:

ETA Holiday version comes with a free Alan Wake and Forza. Might consider selling them, as well.

Getting bored of Civ5 now after a solid 3 months of it. Was hooked on Empire Total War before that. Any other games like these that you guys can recommend (any platform)? Don't like Starcraft.

Free Alan Wake download code. There's no physical game disc.

Have you gone back and played Rome:TW and Medieval 2: TW? There is also Shogun 2 out now. I have not played it, but I loved Rome and Medieval 2. Rome TW might be my favorite strategy game of all time.

:kicksrock: That just went on sale recently for dirt cheap, too, didn't it?

I've seen those download codes even cheaper. For as low as $5 on ebay and Amazon. The actual game runs anywhere from $20 - $30 depending on where you buy it.

Shogun 2 doesn't come out until tomorrow (at least on Steam). Medieval 2 was on sale for $2.50 there this past weekend.

There's a new Total War game coming out soon (this week?)

I may have to try Rome and Medieval 2 again but aren't they just older versions of Empire? Is Shogun similar? Never heard of it.

Older yes, but still great gameplay. I believe the Total War series began with Shogun, then went to Medieval, then Rome, Medieval 2, Empire, Napoleon and now Shogun 2. I will give Shogun 2 a look once it drops to around $20.

I have a copy of Marvel vs Capcom 3 for the 360 that I'm looking to sell or trade for Fight Night Champion. Just realized I'm not into arcade fighters like I was 10 years ago.

Just watched some Homefront gameplay being streamed. I'm interested. Looks to be CoD gameplay with Battlefield vehicles, game modes, and map layouts(big).

Tried Rome again last night... :X . Can't go back after playing the newer one. Was Napoleon an expansion pack or was it a game unto itself?

Add-on to Empire

So Bethesda must REALLY have a thing for Vampires. Oblivion and that whole thing, and now Fallout 3? Seriously? Any reason to really go down that road? They are lucky I didn't go in guns blazing as it is. ;)

They aren't really vampires. If anything, they are are mocking all the wannabe vampires out there.

Finished FO New Vegas. Had fun despite the glitch lockups - especially towards the end game. I started playing through again as a bad guy/Legion questline and wanted to go full on Unarmed/Ninja. However, I also want to play through on hardcore and that would be much more easily done with stealth, speech and guns.
