Fallout:Vegas $9.99 at Best Buy for all platforms this week (PC, 360, PS3). Considering it.
I got it a couple weeks ago at $19.99. Going in this week to price adjust it. It's a steal at $10. The game's massive. You asked about attaching it to your Steam account. The PC version requires Steam, so it would have to be attached to your steam account. So, the Best Buy route is cheaper for game only. But if you aren't going today and want the DLC, I see Steam also has the DLC for about $2 each (I wish I could get that for the XBox version, damn Best Buy for not having the PC version in stock!), so getting them all on Steam for the game + DLC would be worth it.I'd really consider Homefront for $25, but my wife would kill me if I buy another game right now. We're trying to save up for a vacation next month. I should probably wait.
I am looking at Homefront, as well. :bag:
I've heard the multiplayer is good, but I'm not sure how different it would be from Battlefield.

Yup, I have to admit I was looking at that. 1/2 price sounds about right, and by the time it is cheaper than that things like BF3 might well be out.

I picked up Fallout Vegas with 1 DLC yesterday, as well as Trine for $2 was a no brainer.

Star Wars: Empire at War is on sale for the next 13 hours or so for $5.00. Reviews look decent enough for fans of Star Wars.
It might be worth it for $5, but that game was not good.
I disagree. It's certainly dated now that it's 5 years old, but this was the only time they got a Star Wars RTS game right IMO. Unfortunately for them, the heyday of the RTS game was a decade ago.

It certainly was better for a Star Wars game but it felt like you were fighting in tiny little boxes rather than a galactic war across multiple planets. Nothing ever felt epic. Just a map with icons and close in battles to capture points. I bought it 5 years ago for full retail. I played it maybe for a week before I got bored.

In the middle of it right now. The scope of the game is amazing.....just seems three times as big as Fallout III.
DARN! Just got it like two weeks ago from best buy, and literally put the box and receipt in the trash last night. Too bad, I was happy with the 19.99!Just got into over the long weekend, and really enjoying it so far. I like the multiple factions in it, and how they are relating so far. I think i'm enjoying it more the fallout III, and so far only a couple of lockups.

The ground combat would have felt dated if it had been released years before, and like Insein noted, the unit number restrictions on the space combat prevented you from ever getting that "epic" battle that this game seemed like it should have produced.

Picked up the Tropico 3 franchise pack Saturday night for $6 and then started playing Civ 5 to keep me distracted from buying more games.

I'm thinking of getting a Dreamcast at a friends yard sale tomorrow.. What games to play?

Just bought a copy a few minutes ago. Turns out it is a BB pre-order version, so I have codes for the armor, gun and medkits.

I'm thinking of investing by getting a Dreamcast at a friends yard sale tomorrow.. What games to play?
NFL 2KCrazy TaxiResident Evil: Code Veronica
Cool,Thanks. I remember when the Sega Dreamcast was released, but never got a chance to play. :kicksrock:
RE:CV is why I bought the system. Jet Grind Radio is also good once you get used to the wonky controller. Skies of Arcadia is one of the best Japanese RPG's ever made imo. Lots of fighting games (King of Fighters, Marvel vs Capcom/SNK, Soul Calibur) if you're into that. Starlancer was a good little space simulator/RPG in the vein of Wing Commander. Sonic Adventure had its moments. Ultimately its why the system died. They never had that many great games that weren't available on PS2 also.

That.

If you don't already have it, BUY PLANTS VS ZOMBIES!
I played the main game straight through yesterday. I love tower defense games anyway but thought it was a blast. A little too easy but a pretty original concept. Plenty of other modes to play as well on the 360 version.

So far, Trine is a pleasant surprise. Does it allow online MP, or just local?
You didn't trust my review? It's only local, but there are some online tutorials on how you can make it work online. I haven't really tried it like that yet.

I was a big fan of Sonic Adventure (that was the first Sonic on the Dreamcast, right?).

Yes, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 were both awesome (and probably the last two truly good, IMO, Sonic games that have been made) - and I'm a huge fan of the series.

Sonic Adventure 1 was the open-world, linear-yet-exploratory game where you played as 6 "good" characters - Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big the Cat, and E-102 Gamma.

Sonic Adventure 2 was the more traditional Sonic game with independent stages. You could play as 3 good characters - Sonic, Tails, Knuckles - or the corresponding story as the bad characters - Shadow, Robotnik (I refuse to call him Eggman), and Rouge.

I owned SA2 for the Dreamcast and actually picked up SA2: Battle for the Gamecube. I know the GC version gets worse reviews, but I thought the little additions here and there made it a better value. My brother and I played that game for hours and hours on end.

Happened to see Beetle Adventure Racing for N64 at a local game shop for $1.99 over the weekend.

Too cheap not to buy, now I just have to dig up my system again to play it.

Just a friendly reminder to my Steam friends - make sure to update your wishlist with your 10 most wanted games. They have 100 people winning their top 10 at the end of this sale. It would be a shame if you actually win and only get 3 crappy old games or none at all.

They don't make em like this anymore....

I wish I knew, and it really makes me sad because I'm a Sonic fanboy through and through. I really think the dismantling of the core Sonic Team has led to disastrous results - they have really struggled to keep up with the times.IMO, the Sonic series was uniquely suited to side-scrolling 2D/2.5D play. Unlike a game like, say, Mario, Sonic was always built on sheer speed and timing rather than exploratory gameplay. Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles for the Genesis were great (again, IMO), and Sonic CD was good as well. Then came the real 3D test for the series with the Dreamcast, and I think they just completely missed the boat. I don't know if it was poor planning or lack of ideas or what, but FWIW, the concept of Sonic Adventure 1 is a ####### nightmare. Yes, if you want to beat the game, you have to spend several levels fishing with Big the Cat and running around hitting things with hammers as Amy. Sonic Adventure 1 took what was good about the original game - the fast pace and speed - and completely stripped it from the game, slowing things down seemingly to a crawl. Add in the open overworld and having to actually FIND where the next stage starts....that game tested my patience.

I think they realized that they had gotten too far away from the core of the game, and tried somewhat to bring it back with Sonic Adventure 2's simple stage-to-stage gameplay. But instead of letting you run through the stages as your favorite characters, you only get ~6-8 Sonic/Shadow stages and you have to wade through ~5 Tails-in-a-robot-suit-shooting-a-gun stages and ~5 Knuckles-searching-for-pieces-of-the-emerald stages. The game is disjointed and frankly, the Tails/Robotnik levels are brutally not fun.

Every one of the games I've played since then (which isn't all of them, to be honest) has just been downright bad. It seems like they try to introduce a new tweak to each game that fails miserably, and the controls have seemingly gotten downright unplayable with the more recent installments. I understand that you've gotta innovate if you want to stay on top, and I'm sure the success of games like Mario 64 prompted their changes. But the Mario series at its core is a world away from the Sonic series - even if they were both originally side-scrollers. I don't know what the right answer for Sonic would have been, but I'm pretty sure whatever they've done in the last 10 years isn't it.

Not sure. I think the Winter sale went, what? 10 days or so? Just a few more days I would guess.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is up for ~$7 today. That seems like more of an xbox 360 game to me though. Anybody play it on a PC?

This sale is pretty addicting - already bought 3 games at steep discounts and not sure when I'll get to play through them.

I have it on PC and it looks amazing, especially on my 5760X1200 Eyefinity setup :nerd:

I'd like a PM or whatnot of your entire setup (rig and monitors) as well as any other hardware you need to run this. TIA

I was referring more to the control scheme... although I guess I could plug an xbox controller into my laptop.

Mouse and keyboard do just fine for me.
