Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

One last Mass Effect question. For those of you that played, did you stick with the same general three team squad? Or did you swap out your companions? I hate having to bypass all the debris because I have no one with the electronics skill. But my squad is faily far along, and I don't know how I would level up someone else as it is quite a long time between level ups now. Seems that if I decide to start hauling Kaiden or the Quinari (or whatever she is) around, the are just going to be dying in about two seconds flat. Because I haven't used either other than when I had to early on (Kaiden).

Usually I stuck with the same squad on a play through mainly because there were achievements for having a character go through like 45 missions or something. I've played through ME like 8 or 9 times. The only time I swithced was putting Liara on the last part of the Noveria mission because... well you'll see. It makes it more interesting.

Oh and keep the ME questions coming. Its making me want to do another run through.

Are there any good console RPG's in the works? It seems like no one makes RPGs anymore. They're all hybrids with FPS, strategy, open-sandbox elements.
Final Fantasy 13 and 13.5 were pretty good.
There have been few better games where you ran in straight lines and pressed one button in between cutscenes.
Yes, the first bunch of 13 was linear. It opened up after that and 13.5 was wide open.

Well, my first extremely unenjoyable game session with this game. Actually, the first session I really disliked at all. Got the mission to clear the four Geth outposts. Did the first one without to much trouble after figuring out I was dying to some sort of stealth troops. Go to the second, Fighting something called a Colossus or something. Base has like nine positions with rocket troops and snipers also. I managed to snipe about six of those, then went in with my assault rifle. Used the base cover to take out the other three. But I could not even scratch the giant machine thing. I spent probably 30 to 40 minutes trying before I gave up out of frustration. As I said, I don't even think I scratched the paint on it. I will leave that planet and save that mission for later. Right now, I just have no chance. I was feeling good about my playthrough and feeling pretty bad-###. But this mission definitely put a damper on my spirit for this game.

Edit: The planet is Antibaar.

Have to use the cannon on the Mako to take it out. Take out all the little annoyances first and then just use the mako to fire and then jump as it fires at you. Pretty boring but that should get you through it.

BTW, I beat Metal Gear Solid 3 the other day. Talk about a story that makes no f'ng sense whatsoever. Very pretty game. Decent gameplay even though it's basically the same as the original playstation MGS controls. It's just the dialogue and the story and the actions of the characters are laughably bad. Plus after beating Volgin (supposedly the main enemy) which in and of itself was annoying and took about an hours worth of gameplay and cutscenes, I figured there would be maybe another 20 or so minutes left to fight the Boss and wrap everything up. No. Another 3 hours if you let all the cutscenes play along with the gameplay. Why do I have to have a getaway scene when I just beat the bad guy? Why do I have to sneak with a wounded AI partner through more enemies just to get to the Boss? Really bad game design at the end.

Not a bad game but just weird on the approach they took.

I think I posted in here about how my controller would regularly idle off during the cutscenes. I'm going to probably pick up mgs 4 because I'm a completionist, but really a pretty awful series from a plot/story (both content and delivery) perspective.

Dragon age 1. I liked 2 as well but many didnt (had more of an action element as well). I imagine DA3 can't be that far off.

Like I said, I think I'll depart the planet and go back to that quest later. I've been enjoying the game quite a bit up until now. But that whole gigantic side mission seems more like a chore. And I don't feel like doing chores!

Picked up MGS4 with the HD collection for $10. I'll be finishing that as well.

I did as I said and just bailed on that mission. The only one I had other than main story lines was Rogue VI. So I went off and did that. Much better! Was back to fighting things I could kill, and was rewarded with my Specialization (now a Shock Trooper). Got me right back in to the game, motivated and ready to go. Was definitely a good decision! Now I am back at the Citadel, ready to pick up some more side quests.

Im about 50% of the way thru Tomb Raider and I think I can safely say this may be my favorite video game ever (at least on the PS3). It has the perfect blend of action, platforming, puzzle solving, searching, upgrading, graphics, story that I ever played. Im completely blown away. Even the controls are perfect and make you feel so blended into the environment. Not only that but Lora is ####in hot :bag: especially all caked in mud or blood. Seriously though, amazing game. My only slight complaint is sometimes I cant see the enemies.

You'll probably love Last of Us when it is released then. I keep waiting for that one. I figured TR was a good fill-in while waiting and am definitely glad I played it. Not much replay value IMHO. So I will likely trade it towards a pre-pay for Last of Us. Gamestop is giving an extra 30% credit towards anything you trade towards the pre-pay right now. So that's a bit of an extra bonus.

Can I get a couple of recommendations for PS3 games that I can pick up used for two players on the same console? Could be coop or vs. Thanks in advance.

I switched them up to try and make sure everybody was levelled about the same. I could have stuck with the same three though, really no reason that I saw story-wise to change.

ME2 question:

I have finished all 12 of my crews "loyalty quests." I have visited every system and have 100% completion on all systems and quests. The only Journal Assignments I have left is "Attack Collectors" and the sub assignment "Deliver Food to Cook" (sic).

Is there anything left to do--or can I begin the final assault on the collectors?

I think it's about 20 levels to late for that. If I add a new crew member to an away team, do they get any sort of automatic, catch up level ups? Or are they just going to be total newbs?

IIRC, they get points to bring them up close to the current level of Shepard.

I think you're ready to go. If you're a completionist, go get the food for the cook at one of the stores on Citadel (I think?).

Yeah, I got the food, but I can't deliver it since the Cook is missing :)

Thanks Andy

Yes, I think this is true

Oh, cool. Then I think I will defnitely start swapping a few out here and there. I'm tired of passing up all the debris because I have no one with electronics. Speaking of which, what do you find in debris? Just the same type pf mods and stuff that are in cases and stuff you decrypt?

Yes. But I do hope you got all those done before the omega 4 relay was opened for business. Otherwise it won't be a pleasant journey.

Yep.

Playing on the PS3 Tiger Woods 2014 Masters Edition:

CONS:. The load times are just terrible. The camera angles when you putt are annoying. Having to be signed into the EA Servers to get credits for ability points also is kind of a pain. You don't get all the courses and have to pay additional money (significant money) to get them all--which when you are paying close to $70.00 for the "Masters" issue, this just is not acceptable.

PROS: The graphics are good. The game-play is still a lot of fun--it is one of the games my wife really enjoys playing. The historical characters are neat to play against. Reading last year's reviews on the 2013 edition, (which I didn't buy) it appears they have fixed all the bugs with this new game.

I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Finally got the Virimire mission you all were talking about. Was surprised, because I had only accomplished two of the three main quests originally given. Figured I would need all three to get it. So now I guess Novenia or whatever is optional as I already did Feros and rescued the chick. But I will likely do Novenia anyways. But first, I went back and kicked Antibaar's butt! Amazing the difference a couple days can make. I had no problem with it this time. So two more outposts to go to complete that long side-quest. Edit to add: Antibaar got way easier now that I learned the power of the sniper rifle. I was using my Assault Rifle nearly 100% of the time. But after maxing it, I started putting points in to Sniper. I just sat back under cover and took out every enemy in the Antibaar camp, including the Colossus, without ever taking a scratch.

Ah, no

I have MLB The Show 2013 and got the rosters from Operation Sports...if you're into baseball games I highly reccomend this one!
How much are the OS rosters different from the ones that are preloaded?
The OS Full minors have all of the minor league players for every team with accurate attributes for each player

There's one guy on their site that also did all of the 1999 25-man rosters for each team

Demon's Souls is one of the most fun games I've played. However I had to abandon it on a certain part as it was un-passable with my character. Some part where you go into a room with two dragons flying around. I must've died 100 times before abandoning. Becuase of that I avoided Dark Souls and will avoid Demon's Souls 2 for that matter.

If this is the Maneater boss fight, you can kill the first one before you pass through the fog door (bring lots of arrows). It's a glitch, but it makes this fight so much easier when you only have to worry about one opponent instead of two.

Dead Space 3
Thanks. I should also add that I would prefer something without a steep learning curve. Does Dead Space qualify?
Bump for the Friday crowd. I need to buy something today.
The first two Army of Two games are fun (forget the new one that just came out).

Just beat uncharted 1-3. Really enjoyed the series even though I haven't really ever liked platformer type games before. if its true tomb raider is better, ill be picking that up soon for sure.

finished ME2, kind of a letdown after the buildup. ending was meh.

i chose to destroy the collector station, we'll see how that plays out in me3.
started God of War Ascension this morning, i needed a button masher after me1-2. finished first level, and IMO there was only one scene that was child unfriendly (the 30 second boob scene). didnt think the violence was too gory  <--in reply to an earlier post i made about letting my kids watch the GoW series. Nope, I didnt let them watch

great gameplay and graphics so far.

The main 12? Nope, got them and the Dr safe. I don't think the rest of my crew made it back though. I could never find the Chef to give him the foods I got for him on the Citadel. Hmmm....

Finally staggered through to the end of Bioshock 1. Not sure my heart can take another one. 70 hours of playing; I'll be hearing those girls voices in my dreams.
