Well I decided to try out Fable 3 since it was free. Had always thought of this as a kiddie Skyrim type game. But I am really enjoying it. The game has a snarky sense of humor. And it is definitely more mature in parts. I didn't do any strategy guides or anything just dove in. My guess is I should have had a lot more money before I became king. I kind of screwed up not buying properties and businesses. I got to it late and It's costing me now I think. I should have started from the jump. I decided to keep all my promises. Mostly because they never give any real choice. I mean really the only two choices are to turn a hold into a toxic waste site or build the most expensive waste plant you can?

Having some trouble though. I am at the part where I am breaking up the robbery and it seems I have to take the bandit alive. But he won't stop attacking and if you kill him you can't leave the bar. Do I need something I don't have? I will check a guide later but thought someone might remember.

Looking forward to whatever MS drops next.

Yeah, you pretty much want to buy everything and become one huge landlord so you have to start purchasing from the get go if you want to go good. Otherwise you will end up without the ideal amount of gold in your treasury at the end. Some of the "evil" choices do open up some new things to explore and quests to do though. I believe the orphanage one and the mining the Bowerstone lake one.

Yeah it seems the best fix for my glitch is to own the bar before the quest comes up. I really did no reading I downloaded this on w him and dove in. Since I was stuck I started reading and you are right. You have to get your money going from the start. I guess I'll restart.

Yeah, I played Fable 2 and the mechanism was similar for earning money so I started from the get go when I played 3. It was very important to buy up property in both games, not just for gold, but also because some of the houses have special items like silver keys to open up chests or the challenge items like the evil Gnomes.

IIRC, you can "farm" gold by just logging into the game every 24 hours if you want to go thru that hassle and have the patience for it. You accrue rent on your properties in real time even with the console off but it stops accruing after 24 hours. If join multiplayer/co/op you can earn a bunch of gold playing in their game as well.

Liked the Fable games, a very sly, sarcastic sense of humor like you said and a strange balance of adult humor and kiddie. It's worth it just to stop and listen to the evil gnomes taunt you with their dialogue. (In Fable 2, it was Gargoyles.) Plus how many video games can you say you can have a threesome, get someone pregnant because you didn't use a condom and possibly catch an std as well?

There should be notations on the map as to where to go to progress the main storyline similar to GTA games. I believe heading to the town west of the farm you're on and talking to the sheriff will start some story missions. It's been awhile though.Edit: you might have to do a few intro mission at Mcfarlane ranch before those open up though.

Honestly by the time I finished Bioshock, I was done with it. It dragged on quite a bit for me and while there were cool parts to it, I was rushing to get through the last hour or two when I got there.

I liked how this one was more open - the original almost felt like a corridor shooter like Doom whereas this one felt open and the rail action was a huge improvement. I liked the story better in this one and seeing the citizens interact with the city entertained me more than seeing the ruins. I guess the last thing would be how much I despised the boss battle in the original as it was very out of place and led to a 45 second cutscene. Infinite gave a 15 min ending sequence.

I like them both a lot, but give the new one a slight edge. A- vs an A.

Really, I'm not sure Bioshock and Infinite have much to do with each other besides the mechanics.

Sounds a bit fruity, but I didn't like the pastel color palette of Infinite nearly as much as the darker green Art Deco look of the original.

The final boss battle and finale of the original was a bit of a letdown, true. But everything leading up to it is so, so awesome.

D&J Collection - $10 @ Gamestop

I loved them on the PS2. I haven't played the PS3 collection, so I can't speak to how they look now, but the gameplay was top notch across all 3. (not surprising since Naughty Dog was the developer) Great platforming with a lot of shooting elements added in the 2nd and 3rd games.

I put Bioshock Infinite down a few weeks ago and haven't picked it back up yet. Surprised at myself, the 1st is a top 5 game for me also. I think it's like Andy said, I think I felt more drawn in by the dark, claustraphobic gloomy/scariness of Rapture compared to the bright, sunshiney and openess of Columbia.

Infinite is still a very good game, but not the "OMG, I've got to get home to play some more" type feeling I was expecting.

... and I absolutely love that game. Runs great on an old, under-powered laptop(or even netbook). If you've ever been curious but didn't want to pay for it I just thought I'd throw out the link. Both Torchlight and Torchlight II are two of the better bang-for-the-buck games I've ever bought but you can't beat free.

Thomas Was Alone, from the most recent Humble Bundle, is a pretty fun minimalistic platformer with a charming story and phenomenal soundtrack. Only takes a few hours to beat, but I recommend it, especially if it goes on sale in the upcoming Steam Summer Sale.

No problem. I will add that although it is a puzzle game, it's not particularly challenging, not that that stopped me from enjoying the game at all. Currently playing Braid, and it's certainly not near this hard.

I waited and waited on Bioshock infinite - borrowed it the other day and I think it's phenomenal. I liked the first one but kind of thought it dragged towards the end, but I'm really enjoying this one so far.

I liked Bioshock Infinite. I went in not really expecting anything as groundbreaking as the first Bioshock and I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I'd say that there were many things about the game that were better than the original Bioshock, and miles ahead of Bioshock 2.

Bioshock 1 peaked with Sander Cohen and Andre Ryan 1/2 way through... Infinite peaked at the end.

I agree with this sentiment. It didn't really pick up until after you meet Elizabeth. But the parts prior has a lot of moments that allow you to stop and smell the roses. Just like the first Bioshock, it pays to stop and take in the atmosphere.

A new firmware update for the PS3 is live, but a significant number of reports indicate it's locking users out of their systems. Posters on the official PS3 Support forum noted they couldn't boot their systems after the update, and some users said restoring file systems didn't resolve the issue.

According to the PlayStation Twitter account, the 4.45 update includes trophy notification options and improves system stability - hmm.

We've reached out to Sony to clarify the situation. While the issues don't seem to be affecting all users, it might be wise to stay clear of the update for the time being.

Microsoft is reversing almost all of the XBONE DRM features.

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

I'm glad they won't fade into nothingness, but I'm still upset that they tried to strongarm the industry standard towards more agressive DRM. Still won't be buying an XBONE.

This is no big deal most of the time because you probably don't hunker down very often anyway, but on Impossible hunkering down is critical, which causes this bug to trigger fairly often, which makes that game, well, Impossible.

It's still a really good game. I beat it three times and plan on doing another run sometime, but this one is fairly major as far as bugs go.

"It's very vague and not fleshed out," says Karpyshyn, adding that "it was something we considered but we ended up going in a different direction."BioWare also played with the idea that Shepard might be an alien at one point, though eventually deemed that too close to the story of Revan in Knights of the Old Republic. Karpyshyn also says BioWare thought about turning Shepard into some combination of organic and cybernetic, a theme that did eventually get generally included in the ending of Mass Effect 3.

But in the end, says Karpyshyn, these ideas were just ideas, and should be judged as such. "It's like vaporware," he says. "Vaporware is always perfect, anytime someone talks about the new greatest game. It's perfect until it comes out." Karpyshyn says that even if fans are disappointed with the story as it is, a story that included these other considered ideas, "whatever we came up with, it probably wouldn't be what people want it to be."

Let's just say they scrapped "synthesis" for "dark energy". I think it's very likely that the same number of people (maybe different people maybe the same one) would have been disgruntled with that ending and would say how the idea of "synthesis" would have been the much better ending.

Toronto's AM640 did a radio interview recently with former BioWare scribe Drew Karpyshyn, in which he chatted about some of the alternate story theories and endings that BioWare tossed around for the Mass Effect series.Eurogamer has the highlights, including the theory that the Reapers were trying to stop organic life because they were somehow making use of "Dark Energy" (an element only mentioned briefly throughout the series) to bring about the end of the universe. "It's very vague and not fleshed out," says Karpyshyn, adding that "it was something we considered but we ended up going in a different direction."

I've read what they had for the dark energy ending. If it was implemented the way it was currently, I think it would have been even worse than what we got. The reapers were basically doing the harvest to slow the expansion of organics in order to lessen the impact dark energy had on the galaxy. Basically global warming on a galactic scale. So instead of reducing the reapers from godlike beings that wanted to dominate us down to very powerful machines with a convoluted logic on how to save organic life, they merely been reduced to environmentalists.

If they used dark energy in an interesting way it could have been useful but in the state it was, I'm glad they scrapped it.
