Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

Amazing Humble Bundle today - via Origin. You get Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Crysis 2 Max Edition, MIrror's Edge, Burnout Paradise and Medal of Honor for $1. Pay the average and get BF3 and Sims 3 +DLC. That is outstanding.

ETA all games get individual keys, so if you own some, you can gift them to others.
Is that only for PC? I got it hoping it was PS3... or do you have to install it through the PS3 itself and not transfer from PC?
PC only

Never done one of these before. I went for it last night and got the keys but wasn't able to figure out what to do with them on Steam. How do I get the games to download?

1. In steam click the games tab on the toolbar.

2. Click activate a product on steam.

3. Copy and paste the key into the field and click activate.

4. It will automatically queue the games for installation.

Payday 2 may be hard to come by for a while. Around here it has been pushed to Saturday and that only if you had a pre order at Best Buy and Gamestop. Walmart and Target will not be carrying the game. Even Amazon has zero copies. They really ####ed up the release royally.

How do you manage to release a game and give Amazon no copies? That's crazy.

At least earlier tonight they had no copies and couldnt say when they would come in, so maybe the early pre orders got theirs. Manback said his preorder from a day or teo before launch got pushed to Sep 10. I just got my copy tonight and the gamestop manager said it has been a cluster #### basically. He said they only revived the pre order copies and don't know when more will be arriving. He said we are lucky because many gamestops only received half of their pre order quota. Sounds like they vastly under produced their game even though they were saying the game had made a profit a week before it came out. So far it has been really fun and has more rpg elements than I expected, which I like.

Well I grabbed payday 2 off of steam after never playing the previous version. I cant for the life of me complete a damn thing with the AI drones. I cant even do the jewelry store or 4 stores, after 4 hours I have done the safehouse and that is it. It seems like a really cool game but this is just frustrating. Any tips or hints from the grizzled vets?

Don't play by yourself, it's not fun.

anyone have this on steam hit me up

knarfii

wow there have been so many dead months for the 360 with seemingly no good game coming out at all. Now Splinter Cell is out and GTA5 is coming real soon. I hate that all the good games are bunched at the end of the year for the holiday sales.

Do a one star heist mission and go for the vault at the begining and hang around it to restart it overtime. Make sure to use the skill to have one of the guys follow you around as a meat shield/extra gun. Use cover a lot to shield yourself when reloading or when it gets to busy in certain areas. Always keep an eye at your shield and take cover when it is almost depleted until it comes back. This is vital and then pop your head out and wreck ####. You can play stealthy but until you level up a good amount and get a silencer and/or ghost(body bag skill) or mastermind(domination), it doesn't work very well and is extremely tough. I never had very much trouble early on until the next level of missions but then I started playing coop and with matchmaking and made some friends playing it where we would do 10-15 missions straight.

I have actually thought that the 360 has had some really good games come out recently especially with the arcade. Different strokes I guess. Next up from here is Diablo III and Battlefield 4, possibly the new XCOM.

very true, it is much better with friends or even ransoms if you can filter trough them. I'm not sure about the PC but the 360 has a solid community using mic and team work right now. Very surprising imo.

I still am going to grab Dues Ex. Human Revolution. But my Disney Infinity came yesterday. This takes sandbox game to a whole new level. This thing is insane. And once the Star Wars packs come out for this thing, my wife is going to have to pry my son and I away from the TV with a crowbar. God help us all.

What is this? Is it a game? The commercial makes it look like its essentially Disney: Minecraft edition

Does anyone still play Portal 2 and want to play some coop?
Hey Jevy. If you haven't done the coop yet, I would be willing to set up a date to play through with you. Probably couldn't do it until the end of next week though.
I'd help out, but I've been a bit busy lately although I did manage to cram in a couple of Battlefield maps last night with Maelstrom.

Haven't played Minecraft. It's Disney's version of Skylanders, mixed with an option to build your own universes for the charecters to mix and match. So if Mincraft is build your own world type of a game, then Inifinity is both Skylanders and Minecraft, Disney style.

Got my Splinter Cell: Blacklist rental. I'll give my thoughts on the game later in the week. This will be the first Splinter Cell that I won't be buying (with exception to the original XBox's Double Agent and the handheld games).

Had a few really good rounds last night too while you were on!

You'll have to tell me if its more old school like Chaos Theory or the new action style of Conviction.

Payday 2 Mini Review:

It's a very fun game that excels with coop play and can be frustrating going solo. Its gameplay is status quo fps style and does well besides some hit detection clipping.

The weapons, modifications, skills, and masks are bought off of a money system that you gain while pulling heists. About 90% goes into your offshore account and will never been seen when the other 10% is spending money. This is because the currency system would brake down if you had 1.2 billion just chilling. They did a good job on restricting how much money you get so you need to plan out if you want to slap a sight on your weapon, use your latest skill point(which also takes money to unlock), or buy a new weapon.

The cost of skills and weapons rise as they get better and better. Each skill has a "owned" and "aced" status where it takes 1 point to own and 3 more(4total) to ace and 4K-120K at the low end of the skill tree. In the high end the money escalates into the 700K+ range and can be a huge dent to the wallet as well as 4 points to own and 8 more to ace. There are a total of 120 skill points and a 100 character levels. There are 4 distinct character types.

The four different types are quite unique and you tell they put a lot of thought into them because a proper team has a nice balance between the bunch and have certain skills that compliment each other that one person can't have all of, especially if you are trying to stealth everything. There is the Mastermind who helps greatly with crowd control, the Enforcer who can basically be a ####### tank, the Technichan who uses explosives/turrets and breaks into everything faster/more sneaky, and the Ghost that is primed for stealth. Within each character type the skills, especially the high end ones, offer bonuses to the whole team if they are aced.

The gameplay itself has a very left 4 dead feel to it and is great fun when playing with people who have mics. I have mostly played with Dainty and it was alright but we had trouble on so missions due to having to haul 6-8 bags of money/gold/coke and you can only hold one at a time. So with more people who can more everything much faster. This helps a ton because the enemy progression is time based for each level. The overall AI is decent. The team AI of your partners work enough to where they will kill lots of guys, take a ton of damage, and priority #1 is to revive you.

The game experience will be better with more people and we have had some great times so far with randoms. The Xbox 360 matchmaking works well and you choose a mission to start or one someone already made. Each level has three difficulties where the payout is increased but also the difficulty of enemies is upped. Right now they launched with less then the 17 missions they promised but the rest that are being debugged and will be coming out as a free update, not dlc. You do play missons over and ove again, which can be seen as repetitive, but the layout changes slightly and eapecially in the long missions(2-3 days) its very much like left 4 dead campaigns.

Overall Payday 2 has been a fun game that is hard to find on Xbox 360, but will be coming to games on demand on Friday the 23rd. I'm sur ei have missed talking about a ton of stuff.

Edit: forgot to mention that the stealth elements take a while to get properly geared towards. You will need a silencer and certain skills(dominator in mastermind and the body bag skill in ghost) to be successfully.

It's a mixture of both. Gameplay is more like Conviction, but it's much more stealthy than Conviction. So far, the game game is gorgeous and I like that there are multiple paths to take and many different possible ways to play. And like the last few games, it rewards all play styles... although it rewards stealth play more. I've only played 2 missions so far. I managed to do the 2nd completely undetected.

My main complaint so far is the obvious omission of Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher. I knew he wasn't in this going in and you can really tell. Sam's voice actor in this one is a bit generic.

I just want to make a point to say that Splinter Cell games have never been good games for gun play. That said, the mission that I'm on right now sucks ###! Because I have to sit through 20 waves of enemies before you can exfiltrate. First wave was 5 enemies. No biggie. Second was 10. But the third is 20 and I'm having a terrible time, because they spawn all around me. That's right. I can't get passed the 3rd wave. And don't ever let a dog get a hold of you. I'll gladly waste a mark and execute on one of those bastards.

Ubisoft, this isn't Gears of War! Stop trying to be.

Finally finished this mission last night. After you finish 5 waves, it gives the option to exfiltrate. I took it. Controls and guns in this game aren't suited to this mode. It would've probably played better co-op, which the mission had the option for.

Been playing Gods and Kings for CIV5. Some good new features - works of art, trading caravans and cargo ships. Definitely improves the game.

That contact's next side mission is more of the same. Horde Mode style. My suggestion to avoid doing side missions from Charlie unless you like gun ho-ing it. Other than voice acting, that's my biggest complaint so far.

I CAN'T WAIT to get Saints Row VI for next to nothing in a couple of months. I played the first one but stayed away from the others because between the first Saints Row and GTAIV I was worn out on the genre.

This one looks incredibly FUN.

You should definitely grab 3 for next to nothing now. It's fantastic.

I had a ton of fun playing Saints Row The Third. Admittedly it was my first exposure to that type f game since GTA: Vice City on the PS2 but I don't think I am burned out yet.
