Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

I just picked up Payday 2 for $20. My friends and I were waiting on Payday: The Heist to go on sale, but it hasn't dipped below $20 on the PS3, so we all jumped on #2.
Is it like the board game? :bag:
Bank robbing simulator type game. Really really fun. It was the main game I was playing before GTA came out. There is another installment out? I thought they were just gong to add more missions to Payday 2. Anyway, if you ever need a fourth let me know.
Just started actually playing it 2 nights ago and it is really fun, but quite difficult. I imagine it will get even better later in the game when saws, C4, stealth skills, etc are unlocked. Right now it's just a matter of holding on for dear life until the drills complete.

Dainty and I really like this game and it was fun when played in groups of 3-4 people or at least have the other people know what they are doing. I actually like this better than GTA Online eve though it is only a heist simulation and no cars/world map. I plan on getting back to this eventually, its definitely worth it if you have someone on your friends list to game with. Don't be discouraged in the beginning by the lack of being able to play heists sneaky. You need to level and spec out your people to be sneaky and buy weapons with silencers. I kind of like the weapon/item/mask availability system were it is random after a successful heist. It was a good incentive to play more if you just couldn't pick the one gun you wanted and then never try anything else.

Mmmmmm... I think the weapons are all price based (maybe lvl?)... but the mods are what you randomly unlock at the end.

If you're just trying to lvl up fast, hop in any "Ukraine Job" or whatever it's called. It's the level people spam to boost lvls... it's a jewelry store heist that can be done in under 90 seconds or so if someone has C4... easiest XP in the game that I've seen.

They are level and price based, but to get to have enough gold for the weapons you essentially need to be at the given level or higher. Interesting to me is that skills cost money, so often you need to pick between a new skill or a new weapon.

Just finished Red Dead and Uncharted 2. Liked Red Dead a little more than Uncharted 2. If Uncharted had a way to fast forward through some puzzles it would be an all time great game. Debating on Madden 13, Borderlands 2 or GTA4 as my next game.

btw - I know I'm way late for any discussion on Red Dead, but just have to ask "WTF was up with his kid's whiny voice?" The whole game was serious and then his son sounds like a 70s cartoon character.

You can't go wrong with Borderlands 2. Perhaps the most entertaining FPS I have ever played. Beyond the ### kicking bad ###ery of bad ###itude it is absolutely hysterica##ly funny.

I just couldn't get into Red Dead for some reason. That being said I bought it again for $20 beans to try it out . Still haven't fired up WWE2k14 yet....

Uncharted 2 has to be considered an all time great game. By far the best PS3 game IMO.

definitely the best game at integrating cutscenes and action. As a result, I followed the story more closely than any other single player game. That said, I can't recall many points in the game where I was really having a lot of fun. Wasn't drudgery, but wasn't awesomely fun.

Tiny Tina's > Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage = Captain Scarlet & Her Pirate's Booty > Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt

Tiny Tina's > Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage = Captain Scarlet & Her Pirate's Booty > Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt
For me it's: Torgue's Campaign of Carnage >= Tiny Tina's > Captain Scarlet >>>>>>> Sir Hammerlock

I really liked them all including Hammerlock's, but I thought the Torgue and Tiny Tina DLCs were amazing.

Yeah the first three are really close IMO but I just think Tina is hysterical and I feel that Torgue has a better cameo in Tiny Tina's Assault than Tina's in the Campaign of Carnage.

Stand alone game - easily my favorite of the series.

Bioshock was a great story with a well built and unique gameplay structure.

Uncharted is pretty much every shooter- platformer hybrid you've seen in the last 5 years. Great characters. Good story. Gameplay is ok.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 but New Vegas was something totally different and wildly entertaining. I don't think you could go wrong with either but I thought New Vegas was a better overall game, especially with all the DLCs.

Very cool.

I am surprised by the Fallout love from my list. I was expecting the recommendations to be for Batman and Far Cry pretty much exclusively.

You should not be too surprised. Fallout 3 typically ranks very high on the rankings we run here from time to time on best games of this generation.

It is amazing it has been more than 5 years since it was released. It won a ton of video game awards back then.

If you go with Fallout 3, get the GOTY edition. 5 DLC's are included

Already have that version. Steam sales are dangerous for accumulating content.

Do I need to have played Fallout or Fallout 2? They came out in '97 & '98 respectively so I am not sure my Win 8 system could even play them.

No. I stepped in with Fallout 3 (well after it had been released) and proceeded to New Vegas when it was released. I don't think I'm missing much but may give them a try someday.

I don't know much about Fallout, but I'd suggest Batman since you have such a long list. It's a great game, but is short and can be beaten in a weekend.

Been playing New Vegas with all the DLCs for the last couple months. Unbelievable amount of stuff to do. My only complaint is all the walking around that needs to be done to get to a new place, particularly when (at level 3) I'm told "you should not proceed past this point unless you're level 25" once I get there.

I actually love this part of the game. This discussion is making me want to fire up a new character and lose a weekend.

There are a ton of references to the first couple games in FO3 (even more so in NV). There may be updated versions on Steam that work on modern computers.

All I remember about Fallout Vegas is that I spent the first 45 minutes of the game collecting 2 or 3 herbs.

I recommend playing Fallout 1 and 2 just because. I'd love to see them do a Baldur's Gate treatment to update it a bit. #1 and 2 of my favorite games ever.

Need to update Planescape Torment while they are at it. That was the best RPG ever made.

That's crazy cause my experience was entirely different. I started out by shooting the doctor, walked outside and killed a couple guys chasing me down and then well that's how things went until I got chased down by a NCR swiard of the baddest dudes I've ever seen. Literally scares me straight. Then I wiped out a compound of giant super mutants, found a wrecked alien ship with a ray gun. Wiped out about a dozen crazy robots with machine guns then nuked an entire city in one of the best scenes I've ever seen. I want to play that game again.

Ok, I've had a copy of Mass Effect 1 for a few years - made 3 attempts but haven't made it past the first couple of hours. I really want to make it through at some point because I feel like I'm missing out but when does the game pick up the pace?

After you get past Tali (getting evidence on Saren) and make your way back into space, it starts to pick up.

Agreed.

I got stuck on the same parts that Bigmarc27 did, where you are watching more than playing. It does change to a better balance though as you mentioned.

Yeah absolutely hated that kid. Just terrible.

I realize I'm in the minority on this game, but I found it incredibly slow. Completely turned me off from doing any kind of RPG. Just not my thing

Sleeping Dogs

Stealth ******* Deluxe
The Fallout games are fun, I'd suggest one of those 2.
Is New Vegas a sequel to Fallout 3?
Stand alone game - easily my favorite of the series.
:goodposting:

I enjoyed Fallout 3 but New Vegas was something totally different and wildly entertaining. I don't think you could go wrong with either but I thought New Vegas was a better overall game, especially with all the DLCs.
I agree with this as well.

I am a few hours into Tomb Raider and I am enjoying it. Nice mix of platforming, puzzles and 3rd person shooter.

It feels very similar to Uncharted.
