Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (15 Viewers)

I am a few hours into Tomb Raider and I am enjoying it. Nice mix of platforming, puzzles and 3rd person shooter.

It feels very similar to Uncharted.
great game
I really enjoyed it too. I think it would be my 2013 GOTY. Never played anything quite like it. I also really liked the frantic sequences that they spring on you. Really just throws you into the middle of things with no idea what is going on, good stuff.

I bought Bioshock Infinite for my 11 year old. Do you guys think it will be OK for his age? I haven't played any of the Bioshock games.
It's pretty fast paced with the run'n'gunning and the overall story is kinda dark. Most of that will be lost on a typical 11 year old but it's still pretty violent and I personally don't think I would be letting an 11 year old play.

Yea, no way.

Game of Thrones and Borderlands adaptation of games announced by Telltale Games! Btw has anyone played the new Wolf Among Us? It's also by them and I loved The Walking Dead, so was looking for opinions. The Game of Thrones is based off the Hbo show license and should work great, while borderlands theme could be hit or miss. I can see it working fantastic if they go comical and use the characters how they are in borderlands, but not so much if they go serious and dark.

Its coming out for Xbox One/PS4 in a few months and will be getting some upgrades for Next gen

Another vote for absolutely not.

Haven't played Infinite yet but if it has the similar sadistic stuff from the original, then HELL NO! You must be at least 18 to play this in my mind.

Wolf Among Us is amazing, its what you would expect from TellTale.

Looking forward to what they can do with the GoT and Borderlands licenses.

Played Shadowrun Returns this weekend. Kickstarter funded game by an independent developer that was started by the creator of the Shadowrun RPG.

It utilizes Fallout 1/2/Tactics style view and game play and is set up to run user modules which I haven't explore too much.

The module that it came with was okay - completely linear but a decent story.

This is a game I could really get into if the user community steps up and creates high quality content but I'm skeptical if that will happen.

I let my 16 y.o. play the original Bioshock but even that was a bit of a stretch. Another vote for "no way" for an 11 y.o.

I haven't sent it to his Steam account yet so maybe I'll just hold on then. He is an avid Skyrim player.

Infinite not as sadistic as the original, but still has its moments.

steam machines are a little pricier than I thought they would be. I am going to have to pass at this price point I can build something cheaper

"Rather than try to compete with console pricing, our system takes aim at the high end of the market and capitalizes on PC gaming's biggest advantage, raw performance," the company's statement reads.

Yeah - they are missing the boat here. High end gamers will build high end boxes themselves

Wow, that is high. I've been looking at getting a new gaming pc, I don't build myself, and you can configure some great stuff for <$1000.

I think I get a new pc when I buy Witcher 3, that will be the game that drives me to one.

So I just started up Borderlands 2. I have place through the first boss with two characters, siren and Zero. I love the game, but so far I'm just not loving the skill trees. I really liked the skill tree for the Siren on the last game, I tend to play using smg's and sniper rifles.

Any suggestions on what skill trees were your favorites?

I'm not going to stop playing, just trying to figure out if I want to keep playing one of these two, or try something else.

I personally found Zero to be he most disappointing character. He has a mediocre action skill and too much of his skill tree is devoted to hand to hand combat which is virtually a non-starter in BL2. Brick from the original BL was the real deal with H2H combat, Zero not so much.

You can go here and spec out builds for different characters. My personal favorites for solo play were Commando and Mechromancer, still haven't played the Siren but I played with one and she has some serious power.

Once you can power Zero up all the way the abillty to go into stealth and then re-enter stealth upon killing means you can clean up big groups in close quarters very quickly.

Fair enough. I never played him through that tree. It just seems that there is not so much ROI before you get to that point. I would think that you should invest in the other trees until you have enough skill points to invest to the end of the stealth tree (level 31).

With Brick you could just start face punching from the beginning, which was awesome.

I'm an engineer and I design and debug computers for a living so I'm 100% capable of doing it, but really I don't like doing that stuff outside of work. I'd just prefer to wait for a good sale, buy one, and have it show up all put together and working.

Nice I'll check that out and see what I like.

I found the Berserker to be the most fun. You can perk up to essentially duel wield two guns full auto with nearly unlimited ammo.
Ok, that does sound fun.

I tried zero because I tend to snipe a lot, but yeah, found that he had like 1 whole tree of h2h stuff, and to me, borderlands is all about more and more guns, so would probably never touch those.

With a +Melee damage gun and high enough level, he was very fun to play. Something like this at 60:

http://www.bl2skills.com/assassin.html#000000000005055105002550515551

C0unter Strike 5:After getting hit, your next melee attack has a chance to deal +250% damage.
Ambush 5:+20% damage when attacking enemies from behind or when attacking an enemy who is targeting someone other than you.
Rising Sh0t 5:Each successful ranged or melee attack gives you +10% Gun Damage and +9% Melee Damage for a short time. This bonus can stack up to 5 times. Faster weapons can gain stacks more quickly, but slower weapons retain stacks for a longer period of time.
Death Mark 1:Dealing melee damage marks a target for 8 seconds. Marked targets take +20% additional damage from all sources.
Innervate 5:While Decepti0n is active you gain +10% Gun Damage, +35% Movement Speed, and regenerate +4% of your Maximum Health per second.
Killing Bl0w 2:+200% Melee Damage against enemies with low health.
Ir0n Hand 5:+15% Melee Damage and Maximum Health.
Grim 5:Kill Skill. Killing an enemy regenerates +3.5% of your shield per second and gives +7.5% Action Skill cooldown rate for a few seconds.
F0ll0wthr0ugh 5:Kill Skill. Killing an enemy gives +40% Movement Speed, +30% Gun Damage, and +40% Melee Damage for a few seconds.
Execute 1:Melee Override Skill. While Decepti0n is active and a target is under your crosshairs, melee to dash forward a short distance and perform a special melee attack. Has a range of 3 meters.
Backstab 5:Your melee attacks deal +40% damage when hitting an enemy in the back, dealing massive damage.
Resurgence 5:Killing an enemy with a melee attack restores up to +20% of your health depending on how low your health is.
Like The Wind 5:+15% Gun and Melee Damage when moving.
Many Must Fall 1:Killing an enemy with a Melee Attack during Decepti0n deploys an additional holographic decoy and extends the duration of Decepti0n instead of ending it.

For Maya I like going to the bottom of the Cataclysm tree, and then grabbing Converge and Res in the other two trees. Ruin is great since it slags enemies just by phaselocking them. As for Zero, I actually like the melee builds, but it's not necessary to reach the bottom of the melee tree. I get the kunai so that you can use that to get deathmark. Bore is a very nice boss-killing skill too, although it's probably glitched. The sniping in the game is pretty lame, especially in the higher difficulties. The enemies don't even really spawn until you get too close to snipe anyways.

http://www.bl2skills.com/assassin.html#505001000045055105015050513000

This is my Zero build, but I have not taken him beyond level 61 yet.

I actually prefer the Gunzerker and Commando much more than either of these classes. Gunzerker I found to be hard in the beginning, but once you get your hands on some good guns, it gets much easier.

Just picked it up from the steam sale... Holy cow is far cry 3 fun.

But... How do I throw a grenade? I go through the weapon wheel and pick the nades but it stays on the gun.

Just started playing Borderlands 2 today. I picked the ordinary looking guy to play as. So far so fun.
Great game! If you played BL1 you know the fun you are in for, if not, enjoy your loot and fun weapons :)

All I remember about Fallout Vegas is that I spent the first 45 minutes of the game collecting 2 or 3 herbs.
That's crazy cause my experience was entirely different. I started out by shooting the doctor, walked outside and killed a couple guys chasing me down and then well that's how things went until I got chased down by a NCR swiard of the baddest dudes I've ever seen. Literally scares me straight. Then I wiped out a compound of giant super mutants, found a wrecked alien ship with a ray gun. Wiped out about a dozen crazy robots with machine guns then nuked an entire city in one of the best scenes I've ever seen.I want to play that game again.
I realize I'm in the minority on this game, but I found it incredibly slow. Completely turned me off from doing any kind of RPG. Just not my thing
I am with you on Fallout 3, played it and couldn't stand it really slow and tedious. Made me hesitant on RPGs but I absolutely love Skyrim.

Does anyone know if Witcher 3 will be more open than 2? I liked it but felt really restricted in where I could go and didn't like that at all.

Different strokes for different folks. I fell asleep with the controller in my hands playing sky rim more then any other game I've ever played.

I enjoyed but.......zzzzzzz ....

Just finished Red Dead and Uncharted 2. Liked Red Dead a little more than Uncharted 2. If Uncharted had a way to fast forward through some puzzles it would be an all time great game. Debating on Madden 13, Borderlands 2 or GTA4 as my next game.

btw - I know I'm way late for any discussion on Red Dead, but just have to ask "WTF was up with his kid's whiny voice?" The whole game was serious and then his son sounds like a 70s cartoon character.
You can't go wrong with Borderlands 2. Perhaps the most entertaining FPS I have ever played. Beyond the ### kicking bad ###ery of bad ###itude it is absolutely hysterica##ly funny.###!!!
Awesome. Just picked it up for 9.99

I think I missed the point of Borderlands 2 because I hated it. I never played the first and picked up #2 for $10 and couldn't get into it. I'm not really a loot-game guy I guess.
