Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

Went everywhere. Found Dogmeat. Now I have him and Fawkes. Killed a ton of things the three of us. Happened upon some wastelanders who were looking for oasis. Tried to kill me. Didn't work. Got a map to Oasis. Find it. Saved before I did it's mission.
Forgot to add this (in continuation of all the stories of how Dogmeat seems invincible).

After I found him I kept walking around just looking for trouble with trouble on my mind. I got my Super Mutant and my dog, a plasma rifle and some Tesla Armor. Seriously, you see us coming, back away. Anyhoo we come across a firefight between some Talon guys and some Enclave guys. Awesome shopping time. Armor, guns, everything. The one Talon guy even had the laser mini gun that is the younger brother of Vengence. Of course, I intercede in the fire fight to allow myself to improve.... myself by killing all of them. Didn't realize though that Dogmeat just jumps right in to protect me. Good dog. So I throw a frag grenade at the first Talon guy with his back turned to me thinking - fireworks 4th of July why not? Well as the grenade takes it flight and archs in the air I see Dogmeat run to the guy and start attacking him. Right at what will be ground zero. In that split second I say a video game prayer for my canine companion because he's about to take a greande on the chin.

Grenade lands. I hold my breath. Fawkes is laughing shooting something like he does. It's a crazy scary fun laugh. I see Talon guy fly up in the air without arms. And then I see Dogmeat. Out of the ashes like a phoenix and running to the next red blip on my Pipboy to defend me. Good dog. When it was all done I wanted to give him food or something but my only option is to say good dog (am I missing something there?) Man he takes a beating.

So we go back to Megaton to drop off that days findings. And now I need some guidance here from NC or others. I decided, what the heck I shall enjoy the company of a lady tonight instead of sleeping in my bed as it was getting late, so I make my way over to the irish guys tavern - name is escaping me at the moment but you know what I mean. I talk to the hooer and agree to pay her 120 caps. I have enough - I'm up to 10 grand. This results in her just sleeping in the queen bed and me next to her. Bummer. But then again it's a video game so if I was looking for more I have problems and my wife already took care of that beforehand. TMI, let's move on.

Here is where is gets weird. I wake up. Of course Dogmeat and Fawkes are in the room standing over me. I look around and there is a cabinet in the bedroom. It's red. But I have like a billion good karma points I figure so I'm going to open it. There's 50 caps. So I got the chick at half price. Then something weird. Dogmeat barks and Fawkes gets all upset. No one is red on the pipboy at all and no one saw me take the caps (unless they can see through walls and floors). And then I swear Dogmeat attacks someone. And then all hell breaks loose. In the confusion I didn't even raise a weapon I just stood there in disblief. Fawkes and Dogmeat kill everyone in the tavern (Moriarty included - I remember his name) except Bog or Grog or whatever his name was, the hooer and that Jericho guy. I look around at all the carnage and figure great I'm going to go outside and all of Megaton is going to come after me. I go outside - and nothing. Doesn't seem to phase anyone at all. So I go back in and pick the bodies clean, Grog Bog whatever offers me a drink and I take it. And then I leave.

So my sidekicks killed a lot of innocent people with almost no provocation that I can tell and it doesn't appear to have affected me in any significant way. Anyone else do or see something like this?

When you stole the money it made enemies of certain people in the bar so as soon as Fawkes and DM sense that they go. If those 3 were left then they didn't care about the theft like the townies apparently. I am a little surprised no one in town reacted but then they also didn't see it.

On a whim I did a few searches and finally found that game I was looking for. Imperium Galactica. That was it. I had a blast with that game. I am now going to try to figur eout if I can download it somewhere.
Check out gog.com.
Where can you find system requirements? My laptop is definitely not a gaming machine but would love to play some of these old games again. But all it shows from a system standpoint is what OS it uses. Can't find anything else for like BG2 Complete.
If your PC is newer than 2002 you should be able to crank the graphics on all of the older games.

Speaking of games with intense system requirements, did anyone ever play Rome Total War 2?
No but I was a big fan of the first Rome Total War. I'm interested in hearing if someone else has drove into the new one.
The first one is one of my five favorite games of all time, but I'm not much of a PC gamer anymore and can't justify buying a whole new rig to try this one. Still, I'm curious if it was any good. Didn't really hear much about it after it was released.

Yeah the first one was good haven't played the Second though.

Rome TW was near perfection. I'm not sure the reviews have been as kind to the second.
It had a few flaws but yes very awesome. I thought when I played that game that the future would be basically the same game but with people controlling the soldiers.

EVE Online tried to do it with Dust514. They kind of dropped the ball though. I think it would have to with a pre existing shooter or fighter. Like Shogun: Total War and Destiny Warriors or Eve and Halo.

Attention PC gamers.

If you like old school RPGs like Baldur's Gate, a new game is coming out today called Divinity: Original Sin. Divinity: Original Sin is an isometric sandbox RPG (with turn-based combat) in which you have a partner: controlled either manually in single-player, or optionally by another player in co-operative mode. It comes from Larian Studios, the team behind the Divinity Series.

I played a bit of the early access and stopped because I wanted to wait for the complete experience upon release. This game is seriously amazing

Edit: Here's a

It's actually a pretty demanding game, especially in terms of RAM. The minimum specs say 2 GB RAM but people are finding out its more like 4 that's needed. Especially on Windows. I've recently played both Fallouts and Skyrim pretty much at max settings, but for this game I can only set it to about medium to have an acceptable framerate.

The greatest thing about this game is how it uses the environment in combat. Oh look, is that an oil barrel next to that group of orcs? Let's destroy it then have the mage cast a flare spell to burn everything to death.

That's hardly revolutionary. Lots of games you depend on things like exploding barrels in certain areas. In the case of Fallout exploding cars come in real handy.

That was just one example. There are probably dozens of different ways to use the environment to your advantage in this game. Those barrels of oil I mentioned can be picked up and thrown to spread the fire. If an enemy turns the table and does this to you, cast a rain spell over the inferno to put it out. Shooting a lightning arrow into a cloud of fog near some enemies electrocutes them. Zombies bleed poison which is harmful if one is near you but poison is also flammable so you can incinerate them that way. If a group of enemies is standing in a puddle, cast lightning on them for tons of damage. But wait, if the puddle isn't quite big enough to get them all, cast rain over it to make it bigger, then electrocute them.

It goes on and on.

Personally, I love when stuff like this happens.

Just finished Assassin's Creed 2.

The story is just so-so. Cool graphics. Pretty repetitive gameplay.

Now what? Does AC3 continue the story?

I believe it does but I think AC: Revelations is between the two.
It goes AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations, AC3, Black Flag.I'd also note that there are some refinements to the game play, but they don't materially change the game (at least until you get to the ship combat in AC3 and Black Flag), so if you thought AC wasn't all that, not a whole lot of reason to plow ahead.

I wasn't overly fond of the previous versions but AC3 was okay but a few quirks bothered me enough that I didn't finish it. I really enjoyed black flag though.

I enjoyed Ezio's story quite a bit and appreciate how they weave historical events into the story. I also really enjoyed the city architecture, which I found to be stunning at times. Desmond's story otoh holds almost no interest for me. If you like Ezio at all then Brotherhood and Revelations are completely worth it.

The protagonist in AC3, sadly, isn't a very interesting character. He's very monotone and lacks any charisma, and you are still stuck with Desmond's story when you are out of the animus.

The gameplay in AC3 is pretty much the same but the mechanics are noticibly improved, far less running up the wrong walls.

Overall I think AC3 is worth it, particularly if you intend to play AC4, but since you were "meh" on AC2 I would understand if you dropped the series.

The biggest problem for me were the poor fast travel mechanics. You spend a lot of time hoofing it, particularly in the wilderness.

Brotherhood and Revelations if you want to continue the story. AC3 moves onto another character that is rather dull. But Ezio is one of my favorite characters from the past generation.

So I haven't really gotten any game time in this weekend. But I did sit down for a bit and was checking out the Xbox Gold discounts. Call of Juarez Gunfighter is 3 dollars and some change. Played the demo. The mechanics are a little weird to me. The having to hit three buttons to do the gunfight is pushing it a bit. But after dying a couple of times I got it. In fact I died a bunch trying to figure it all out. I want a rifle from the start darn it. But I digress. It looks like an interesting story. And as I get better at the mechanics I am killing more efficiently.

I think I saw this game mentioned earlier but if you would humor me what did you guys think? Not my usual thing as it seems very on a rail. Even warned me when I wandered too far to one side of the ranch where the demo happens. But that can still be good if it isn't too obvious. With all the open world games I play I sometimes feel hemmed in now by the smaller games.

So after watching some Let's Play videos I have decided this looks like it is worth 3 and change. Definitely on a rail. To the point the game drops you at every mission site. But I guess that makes sense in the context of you are telling the story. You wouldn't include the wandering around stuff. Looks like a good game for in between Fallouts.

Been cruising around in FO. Sad how long it has been since I played and what I remember - put a marker on the map where I thought the Alien Blaster site was and it was damn near dead on. Remembered the order of which things to push in the house when you go try to track down dad in Tranquility Lane and unleash the chinese invasion. Just sad considering the #### that I have to forget on a day to day basis in real life to secure that type of knowledge in my brain.

Spent most of last night wandering around just north of where Vault 112 was. Found Little Lamplight and a bunch of mutants and Yao Gui (?), but not a whole of anything besides that. Finally got around to taking the note to Arefu and starting that mission. The one thing I thought I remembered but couldn't find - I thought there was a back way into meeting the family and I thought it was in the scrapyard, but I didn't see it. Granted, it was getting dark, and I can't see #### in the dark on my crappy TV. Could be wrong about that entrance too and it's in another location. Took the Lawbringer perk and dropped off some fingers to end the night since that was up the way from the scrapyard.

Arkham Origins is a really fun game. A little better polished than AC and a pretty decent story line so far. Wrll worth the $7.50 I paid.

Revisiting FF7 and exploring Midgar.
So incredibly jealous -- I dont have a Playstation 1-4 or gaming PC, and I have been itching to play it for a while now.
Did anyone ever play the reboot of Flashback on PS3?

Loved that game in the Sega Genesis.
No, but I've found the general rule to be let the great games of the past stay in the past. Most of the games I loved that I tried to replay were a bit of a disappointment.
The rule applies double for FF7.

Definitely a fun game and I think the story telling was really good. One thing to be aware of is a bug on a side mission (called Bird or something like that). At one point you need to break up a gang fight on the docks, DO NOT USE THE COMBO K.O. (E button on keyboard) TO FINISH THE LAST GUY!!! For whatever reason if you use that on him you will not be able to interrogate him and you will be unable to continue that mission. It's not an integral story mission but it is still very frustrating if you like to play side missions.

ETA: This is a documented glitch and WB opted not to spend time fixing it in favor of working on DLCs.

Yea it has bugged out a couple times. First boss fight with croc the sound went crazy and some of the planes of existence disappeared. With the previous games having scarecrow and Mad Hatter I thought it was deliberate but no, just a glitch.

I have enjoyed FF7 on my vita and PC. As long as your expectations are of a game almost 20 years old and not a new title, its a fun JRPG if you like that style of game

I haven't had any glitches other than the one I posted (PC gamer). Otherwise the gameplay has been very smooth. I really like the style and mechanics of this series.

I hit the Bird bug as well. I reloaded from the previous save and it worked. Pretty frustrating as I had to redo some stuff leading up to it.

My game kept crashing last night on the Copperhead scene. Probably my pc but I have plenty of RAM and what I thought was an adequate video card.

My favorite parts are when youre fighting a large group and Batman just starts to go crazy chaining attacks together. It looks so badass.

I didn't do the Anarky side missions prior to finishing the main story line and when I went back to do them after, Anarky's agent wasn't there anymore. His movie was still playing over and over at the ship, but there was no one to talk to to get the mission started.

October is looking to be an insane month for releases. Assassin's Cred Unity, Dragon Age Inquisition, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Batman Arkham Knight

Just checking in - any solid RPGs for PS4 yet? What I last played was Dragon Age (big fan) and Skyrim (awesome) on PS3.
Not a PS4 expert, but the next big RPGs I know of start coming out in Oct. Mid Oct is Dragon Age: Inquisition, then the next one is sometime early next year, Witcher 3. Both look pretty good to me and I'm kinda stoked for them.

Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor is out in Oct as well...looks better than both IMO.

I hit the Bird bug as well. I reloaded from the previous save and it worked. Pretty frustrating as I had to redo some stuff leading up to it.
I only used the one save slot and it autosaves right after you defeat the gang so there was no going back for me.

Arkham Origins is a really fun game. A little better polished than AC and a pretty decent story line so far. Wrll worth the $7.50 I paid.
Yea it has bugged out a couple times. First boss fight with croc the sound went crazy and some of the planes of existence disappeared. With the previous games having scarecrow and Mad Hatter I thought it was deliberate but no, just a glitch.
I haven't had any glitches other than the one I posted (PC gamer). Otherwise the gameplay has been very smooth. I really like the style and mechanics of this series.
My game kept crashing last night on the Copperhead scene. Probably my pc but I have plenty of RAM and what I thought was an adequate video card.

My favorite parts are when youre fighting a large group and Batman just starts to go crazy chaining attacks together. It looks so badass.
Yes, yes it does. The combat dynamics are really excellent particularly as you get to larger groups of mixed opponent type. You get an armored, a shield carrier, a bruiser, a knifer*, a couple dudes with guns, a stun baton and a martial arts master and you constantly have to think about your attacks. There is no way this game is simply a button masher, timing and the right attacks are everything.

I always have the most trouble with guys armed with knives. I can dodge them well enough but I haven't mastered the counter so I always lose my stacks when dealing with them.

Witcher 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor seem to be the big 3 coming out relatively soon in that genre. Other than story, are there any features that make each one unique?

I know Shadow of Mordor has some kind of orc army that you can build and Inquisition has what I'm assuming will be a Mass Effect team/group building aspect.

Mordor also seems to look like an RPG version of Darksiders.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that. I didn't really notice that until recently. I didn't think it was going to be anything special until I saw some videos, it definitely looks to be more original than the other two, and really could be good. I'm intrigued by it. I think I'm just more excited for the other two as DA:O was one of my favorite modern RPG's, and with the Witcher, I'm actually a fan of the books too.
