I might have to hate this game. Stuck in the fortress in the big water room where bad guys don't come out until you jump in the room. Died about 20 times. Can't see anything and can't move between the pillars at all to save my life. Which is another thing that bugs me. . The lean or crouch option. . That sucks too.
I know exactly the room you're talking about. It took me approximately one million attempts before I successfully cleared it on Crushing.
I'm on easy. Might take the same amount of time. I'm not going to lie, I was hoping to catch a glitch somehow by hanging on the ledge for awhile hoping the bad guys would come out instead of me having to hit the water.
Yeah, I remember that one. I just ran through all three earlier this year for the first time. That room took me a couple tries, but I think I found it easier when I did it on the run as opposed to trying to hunker down behind cover. I'm almost always a take cover where they can't get behind you and kill whatever comes at you guy, just can't do it in that room.

So my advice is keep on the move and good luck. I did like all three games on some level, so I think they are worth playing.

Speaking of being bad at video games, how hard is Mortal Kombat X? I ask because it looks awesome but are there way too many combos Ill never be able to do? I played that DC fighting game and got so frustrated cuz I couldt do any combos or remember how to do any of them.
Yea, fighting games were really great when each character had a handful of special moves. Combos and strings ruined the genre, imo.

Another cool thing about the first few gens of fighting games was that the moves sorta felt natural to what you were doing on the screen or at least had a little rhythm to them. Virtua fighter was imo, the best at this. A lot of the moves sorta felt organic and you felt like you were using your on screen fighters leverage.
Bump for Shady's post since I essentially hijacked it.

Can anybody tell Shady if the new Mortal Kombat is all combos?
yeah ive been doing some research and it sounds like it is.

I got the Legendary Edition of Skyrim (includes the expansions) for PS3 and started a new game. I am on the final quest of the Dragonborn expansion and I keep running into a bug that is preventing me from finishing the quest. When I am fighting Miraak after I hurt him enough to cause him to go to the invulnerable state and call down a dragon so he can heal, he doesn't get his full health back and therefore remains in the invulnerable state. I can't hurt him and he doesn't do anything (he just stands there). I have tried the things listed at the bottom of this link (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Dragonborn:At_the_Summit_of_Apocrypha), but nothing is working. I have even tried using a regular dagger instead of my weapon so I don't cause much damage at once. That takes forever to hurt him enough, but it's not changing anything. Anyone dealt with this before? What am I doing wrong to try to fix it?

Finished Halo 2 on legendary - yikes, that was utterly painful, but satisfying. Way more difficult than Halo 1. Starting Halo 3 for the first time (played Halo 1 and 2 before).

To someone else who asked about whether they changed the story - no that's still the same. But they offer these "terminals" where you can check in during games at various locations to watch video cutscenes with more info about what is happening in the story at that time, which is pretty cool.

They remastered one, which looked good. They also remastered two, which was freakin phenomenal (cutscenes and all). Now on three and disappointed because it isn't remastered and looks and feels blah. Never played this one before so I guess I'll see.

FYI - lovin this for anyone interested in getting the MCE.

The new Star Wars Battlefront is going to be incredible. 1st person w/ability to look down the barrel/scope OR the classic 3rd person view, 60fps on PS4, amazing graphics...if this was something like COD with a Star Wars skin I'd be happy but I expect it to be better.

So Metro Last Night worth 9.99? On sale Xbox Gold. I think we had some discussion but I don't recall the final verdict.
Did you play Metro 2033?

Doesn't really matter I guess but it gives a good frame of reference.

LL is a solid atmospheric shooter that can be challenging at times and will get you occasionally with some good jump scares. I don't know much about pricing of games for XBox but for PC I would definitely consider it at $9.99, although it is now old enough that I could reasonably believe that it will drop below that during the next Steam Summer Sale so I might wait.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - Wow that got dark in a hurry. It's a cool pseudo-platformer, context sensitive puzzle game with beautiful scenery and while the puzzles aren't particularly difficult and the controls are frustrating at times (left hand controls one brother, the right hand controls the other) it should have no problem holding your attention. But don't let the cartoonish style of the characters fool you, this one tackles some very mature themes and it lets you know that from the jump. It's a short game, maybe 4 hours total, and while I enjoyed its mature themes it never quite hooked me emotionally like Valiant Hearts did (that one is fast moving up my list of favorite games).

Worth playing.

I didn't play the first one. I only do consoles these days so Steam sales are out. Not sure if I'll get it or not. Once they start putting them on sale they end up free down the road. Like AC Black Flag which has been on sale for months and is now a give away.

It's being made by EA/DICE so I'm guessing it's going to be more like a Battlefield game rather than a COD. Which may or may not be what you're looking for but it will likely include vehicles. I'm sure you can think of a few fun options with vehicles from the Star Wars franchise.

For sure. I haven't seen gameplay footage from the cockpit (or outside the vehicles) yet but they've already teased X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter dogfights, etc. in the announcement trailer. Should be a blast.

So how much of Max Payne 3 is voice over and cut scenes? It already started off on the wrong foot with my by requiring me to create a Rockstar account and the first chapter did nothing to convince me that it is going to be worth the effort of sitting through all the babbling. I haven't played the previous games so I am not attached to the series so...

Quit or keep playing?

I didn't care for it at all but others in this thread have given it positive reviews.

It's been awhile since I played it but it didn't leave a lasting memory with me. There's likely lots of other games that would be a better use of your time. It's basically a Bruce Willis movies.

No Campaign for Star Wars Battlefront.

From the article:

Rather, EA says that there are a series of short mission that can be complete solo, co-op, or online, rather than a scripted multi-hour campaign.

I would say [these missions] occupy that spacewhere you play alone, General Manager of DICE Patrick Bach said. Or you can play co-op, split screen or on the internet. The game is first and foremost a multiplayer game. Battlefront was a multiplayer game. Thats the game we wanted to create to recreate the battles of the Original Trilogy.

I liked Max Payne 3 but I've played the entire series. I like the mechanics and I thought the story telling in this one was good.

Just wrapped up Valiant Hearts. Pretty good game. The dog and his barking needs to be adjusted though. Way to much sharp barks. It annoyed me. Had a couple of times where the controls were a little to clunky as well.

8.5/10

Battlefront has always been a multiplayer game. The same way the original Battlefield games were. Back then the only "single player" we got in those games was playing against useless bots in the multplayer maps. Battlefield should have stayed that way. The campaigns in those games were worthless (Bad Company games being the exception, since they were at least entertaining) and that time should have been focused on improving the multplayer. Then they wouldn't have taken an entire year to get the server issues sorted out.

Too repetitive. ... i appreciated the story. It's not my normal type of game, but it was just avg to me
Fair enough. I liked it for the historical references, and it was a nicely-designed game all-around. That said, it's not like you're going to go back and dive right in after finishing it.

I could probably go 6or 7. 5 does seem low. I enjoyed reading the actual historical slides I think more than the game itself.

The game was designed well and the music was really well done.

The stupid button presses for first aid was beyond annoying. Way too long

Decided to walk away from Max Payne and start KOTOR II: The Sith Lords. Despite 2005 game mechanics and graphics it's pretty darn awesome.

So I started Mass Effect last night. Planned on just checking out the first 15 minutes and then getting some sleep before a big presentation today.

I'm NOT buying Metro last light for $10 even though I want it. They keep getting me like that, offering a game for. Super cheap then giving it away for free a month later.

Well my Lara Croft experience has definitely helped me with the platform stuff. The one thing I am not a fan of is all the chase missions. I guess its the equivalent of a fetch mission in other games I play but it can be frustrating at least for me. Otherwise getting the hang of it. About to hit the high seas. Later landlubbers.

I was out with my family the other day and came across a game from 2007 in the discount bin: Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance for PC.

Loaded it up and my son(10 years old) and I have been playing it. Pretty fun.

There is no way that chick plays video games. what was she talking about again?
She's a real gamer, as far as I know. She also played a character in Mass Effect 3.
Yea probably the most annoying and useless one, Dianna Allers, but she's legit.
I didn't find Allers annoying. I just hated that she wouldn't sleep with me. I think she liked the females. I'll try on my femshep when I get to ME3 to see.

She was pretty much the easiest to sleep with. After her first interview she says "Careful commander. You keep giving me interviews like that and I might follow you home." Then all you need is to answer accordingly and you can get screenwipe implied sex.

I really liked ME2, thought ME3 was great until the end. DA:I was decent.

What I liked about these games was that I thought I was having an Effect on the outcome of the game. After ME3 and DA:I it seems that it is mostly just the illusion of impacting the games world. I chose to keep certain races alive because I thought they would be more helpful in the final attack. I built up my armies in both games to because I thought it would help in those last battles.

I wanted a top down generals map that showed my earned pieces and a mini game where I had to direct my troops based on their abilities. Krogans at the front tearing things up. DA:I have mages behind the front lines. Then maybe a some extra cut scenes of this. Have it so my crew doesn't have to push through the forest, it's just a clear shot to the castle. If I didn't take the time to build my army then have that path over run with bad guys and then continued resistance (because they aren't fighting off my army) all the way up to the final boss fight. Make it more difficult if you lone wolf it.

Have a parade and huge ceremony after the final fight if I have a huge amount of allies. Have a somber, small gathering if I was a #### and didn't recruit anyone. The jerk that no ones even realizes is the hero kind of thing.

Those were my expectations so I guess it's kind of on me for ending up disappointed.

Then I either ignored that or the scene was so bad, I wiped it from my memory.

Most likely the later. I accidentally did it and then reverted back because it ruins your other relationship opportunities.
