KOTOR 2 is truly amazing. It's not really difficult at all as far as combat is concerned but it is so rich and nuanced. I mean they really put tons of effort into the story, voice acting and creating dozens (hundreds?) of decision/influence/DS & LS points). Truly amazing.
I couldn't figure out why the game got so much hate for the first 85% of it either.
Love it, but yeah the ending was pretty crunched during dev. Other big issue was that the game was buggy as hell. If you are on PC, the unofficial patch REALLY helps things.I think it has some of the best star wars dialog, especially Kria when she's talking about falling Jedi. Though it can be kinda hard to unlock all of her dialog if you aren't really careful with influence on her. Easy to piss her off if you actually like helping people. Overall I like the game even with the flaws.
I didn't really find it buggy but the ending was definitely rushed. Still that was only the last 5-10% of the game so I still think it was just really well done. The voice acting was really top notch and the story must have taken ridiculous amounts of time to develop.I really wish they would continue the series.
Is KOTOR considered canon?
Eh, there are some quests that can never be completed, and some "events" that are supposed to happen but won't unless things are done in an exact order. Things like that are fixed in the unofficial patch, but I played it the first time or two without it and as you said, not a disaster.I do to, they really set it up in KOTOR 2, but just never happened.
No, KOTOR is not canon. I don't remember if it was before the Disney takeover, but since Disney official canon has been reduced to movies, the new books and comics, and the clone wars/rebels cartoons.
