Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Has anyone made a decent cop game? Like Grand Theft Auto from the police perspective? Throw in some Witcher 3 type "senses" for investigating crap.

Watching HBO's True Detective this past week made me think someone should.
LA Noire
Well, LA Noire tried hard to be a decent cop game.
man I wanted so badly to enjoy LA Noire and I just hated it. It sucks because I love that time period especially for cop stuff - love LA Confidential and all of that. The game just wasn't fun at all for me, though.

Ok, so our conversation about pitching values in the show was correct - the intangible categories are infinitely more important. I've been jacking them as best I can as fast as I can. Pitched back to back 1 hitters in AA with both hits coming at the 9th with 2 outs.

Which annoys me to no end. If its impossible to throw a no hitter, just say that - you can't throw a no-hitter in this game. That's all I need. Or make me give up the hit in the first. But this 2 out bottom of the 9th stuff - not happy.
I threw a no-hitter at AAA. In the majors now and my best so far is a two hit shutout (twice). One against the Yankees.
Boo. not my Yankees. My 1B Paul Bunyan offensive freak isn't allowing you a shutout.
That would be a fun match-up. I think I could take ya. :boxing:

Dell has a pretty nice XBone deal - MCC edition (500GB) and a $100 eCard for $350.
Is it a bad idea to hold out for a 1 TB edition?
This is what I'm doing... also I don't really know what I'd spend a $100 dell coupon on. They have like 12 games on their site from what I saw.
It would be my first Xbox so there are quite a few items to buy (extra controller, headset etc.) that come to mind.

Will the Xbox support wireless headsets? Bluetooth?

ehh I'm the wrong person to ask - I do know the controller that comes with the 1tb system has a different input jack than the one that comes with the 500gn system. That doesn't answer your question, but apparently they've recently changed them.

On the 1tb system it says:

  • Includes new updated black wireless controller with a 3.5mm headset jack, so you can plug in any compatible headset

I'm not great at games but I'm not terrible either...

Halo is HARD in spots, e.g. Two Betrayals.
I recall earlier this year replaying several spots over and over and over... I played on legendary for all 3 ( only got through part of 4 because of major glitches): CE was the most difficult overall, 2 had some of the most difficult areas (sniper valley - one shot and done from essentially enemies that are impossible to find unless you get hit several times), 3 was definitely the easiest but had a few tough spots (getting dropped in the room with the brutes with essentially nothing for weapons). I definitely had to put down the game in a few spots and come back a day or two later with a more relaxed and more patient mindset.

Looks like the going rate for the 1TB edition is $399 (Halo Master Chief or Forza...I saw one on Amazon Halo MC with Assassin's Creed Unity for $399)

Definitely some tough parts. I recall many a night dying over and over again just trying to clear certain checkpoints. Add in some of the skull unlocks and it was crazy difficult even with co-op but fun.

Grunt birthday party... "hooray!"

2015 The Show continues to dominate the playing time when I get it. My lumberjacked 1B for the Yankees has helped get the team to the World Series. So that was cool. With that I decided to create a pitcher and see what I could do there.

Got drafted by the fricken Red Sox. The Red Sox! I'm demanding a trade after every outing. don't care if I get some kind of team cancer label or something. I'd rather pitch for the Mets.

Although now that I've said that....... ew.........

But, for the guys that started with SP - what are the training aspects that you are focusing on that is making a better difference? I'm wondering if velocity and control isn't as important as cluch and h/9 for example...
H9 and BB9 are huge as well as clutch. But Movement is also a big thing when I develop pitchers. I like having a nasty slider or sinker to go along with a great change and 4SFB.

And I am in the same boat with The Show 15 it dominates my gaming time for the most part.
Giants pulled up my 18 yr old Rf to the majors but only got one start in 2 months. Tired of complaining without results so he's on ice....I just started a SP too. Drafted early rd2. 4 starts so far I'm AA: one 4 runner, 2 shutouts, 1 7 inning 1 runner. Only put $$ into change up control and break, splitter control and break, and 4 seam control.

I was wondering about h9 and the other stuff. So far my 99mph heater is dominating

Agree with all of this.

Just pitched a perfect game in the majors in The Show with 12 Ks against Toronto. Still trying to get traded from the Braves but also batting around .250 with 1 HR.

On the season, 6-1 1.10 ERA 0.58 WHIP 90K in 63 IP.

Does Dell not have a good external HDD for around $100 that would make that a better deal than the 1TB?
I am hoping that someone will explain the value proposition of that exact thing.

I am definitely getting an Xbone but it is my first foray into the console world since the PS2 so I really have no idea. If anyone is so inclined to help it would be appreciated (also the Xbox One along with my Roku stick are primarily geared towards cutting the cable. I don't think Xbox One can be used as a DVR in that scenario but if it can then the HD size seems to be critically important).

I hate you perfect game guys. I threw another one hitter last night. 9th inning with 2 outs once again. 19 k's but gave up that hit. Pffft.

Exactly the same here. I absolutely hated this game.

The Xbox One supports any USB 3 external hard drive. I have a 4 TB hooked up to mine.

Seems realistic to keep throwing 1 hitters
It's not. I have bonus equipment loaded from my super 1B game so that helps a lot. And it is AA. You start moving your rating up a little and you start to dominate them rather quick. My guy would get shelled in the majors right now.

So you would consider it no big deal to go with the 500 GB because external memory is so cheap. IIRC there was an external drive that someone mentioned in here that worked particularly well with the Xbox One.

What about bluetooth head sets? If not will it support standard wi-fi headsets or do you have to buy some kind of Microsoft proprietary headset to go wireless?

Started Wolfenstein The New Order (PS4) today. Absolutely love it. The story is great so far. Once I finish this (and I will in a matter of a couple of weeks as it is that good) I will play The Old Blood which is a prequel to this one. It's on PSN for 19.99 (Digital only).

After this it is on to The Evil Within and I am still taking my time enjoying Dying Light.
Wolfenstein is really just a good fun experience. I really liked it, however I heard that the Old Blood expansion was not nearly as good so I passed. FYI

I thought TNO was a blast. Doesn't reinvent anything but it's a solid shooter.

My 9 year old really wants gta 5 but I told him no due to language and nudity. Is there a comparable kid friendly game? Thanks!
Good decision on 5 it is not for 9 yr olds. Are you looking for an open world shooter that would be age appropriate?

What about the Just Cause series? Fairly open world and a shooter, but more about Hollywood crazy stunts and crap.

I was thinking maybe one of the Lego games. Maybe the Marvel Superheroes title.

Just Cause 2 is fantastic and I think would be ok for a 9 year old. The map is huge and it should keep him occupied for a while. I dont remember any bad language in it. It obviously has people dying and stuff though.

I found it too campy to hold my attention so maybe it would be okay for a 9 year old. Then again you do seem to kill the #### out of everything in sight so I don't know how that fits with the whole, y'know, being 9 years old thing.

Generally speaking, for my 9 yr olds, I would never have considered any of those other than the Lego games, but if you were even considering a GTA game, I figured I would throw out Just Cause as a lesser of evils type of dealio.

I know for at least a decade, and ending a few years ago, there was a huge run on WWII (FPS's) themed games. Has there been any made in the last year or two that are good, with updated graphics etc...?
Unfortunately no.

Wolfenstein is the closet to a WWII theme I have found in years. But it is not a war game per se. It's a post WWII story/FPS where the Nazi's won.

Pretty freaking cool story and vibe and a lot of fun. Awesome controls, easy to pick up and play. Lot's of stealth elements as well. Can't say enough great things about it.
This, there aren't any memorable ones right now with the exception of War Thunder. War Thunder is all WWII air to air and tank to tank combat if that is what you are looking for.

Playing Styx, one of the free games on PS+ this month. It is a capable stealth game where you play as a goblin thief who it trying to break into a castle to steal stuff. The story is good but I am finding dying to be a little too punishing due to a crappy save point system and terrible load times. Overall a average game with a interesting character and atmosphere.

I started the All-Star game in my first full season in the majors as a pitcher in RTTS. Here are my half season splits for my fastball tossin' lefty:

18 GP, 9-2, 132 IP, 199 Ks, 0.54 WHIP, 0.95 ERA, .117 vs LHH, .151 vs RHP.

This is all on a Braves team that is currently 38-51. I've pitched a no-hitter and a perfect game. Also no-hit the Giants for 8 IP, walked one guy in the ninth and got tagged with the loss when the reliever immediately game up an RBI double. 1-0 loss. I had to step away for a moment after that BS.

I've been requesting a trade all year long and the Braves have yet to find a suitable trade. Really want to go to the AL so I don't get yanked in the 8th for a PH and get tagged with a loss or no decision due to the ineptitude of this team.

Finally went and got the EA Access...have never played a basketball game before. Holy ####### #### is NBA Live is insanely difficult. In the game they make you play to start got rocked by almost 40 points. #### me. :bag:

Anyone here play Payday 2 on the Xbox One? I am always looking for people to play with.

One of those games that is better with other people, and you really have to work together to complete missions.

Gamer Tag: We Goin Sizzler. My girlfriend and I love this game and am semi decent at it in sneak pulling framing frame entirely in sneak mode among many of the smaller stuff, but can do loud missions well also. I'm sort of away for games for the next 2 months but it will definitely be in the rotation after that.

NBA live has been consistently one of the worst games each and every year since the late 90's. I'm not sure who is still buying that game.
NBA 2K took over top basketball game in 2000. Never looked back. NBA 2k11 is still my favorite, but it's been great every year since.

I'm super late to the party but FIFA 15 is a ton of fun. Been playing the FUT aspect and just started a career mode, even downloaded my face for the player and it looks pretty cool. I may pick 16 up when it releases.

My 7yo girl is loving this one right now. It's good for kids in that you never really die, just pop back up again in the same place.

The addition of having more than one character was great and all three leading characters were fun as all get out.
This was probably what made it for me. It was to play different ways as different characters and did great things for the storyline too. I expect this aspect to be regularly copied in future.

I've been playing FIFA 14 FUT and liking it a lot. I'm thinking I'll probably get '16 too. XB1?

I finished Wolfenstein The New Order yesterday on Normal. It was a great experience. I am playing the Old Blood which I heard clocks in at around 8 hours (it was 20 bucks) and takes place right before The New Order.

So far one of the best FPS I have ever played in terms of story, pacing, weapon perk system and the graphics were pretty awesome. Killing Nazi's was never more fun than on this game.

I will go back to it one day to get 100% completion etc. It really was a sleeper game for me.
