Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

I know you said you can turn chat off. But if I want to chat I'll need headphones right?
Yea, just like any other game where you talk.

I play w/ wireless headphones (but don't use the mike), and can hear the chatter through the TV speaker and the headphones unless I choose "leave chat".

Anyone know how low Wolfenstein The New Order has gone for PC? CamelX3 says that on Amazon the lowest has been $25 for a single day last year, mostly hovering around $40. Steam has it for $36 right now, but that seems high for a game over a year old. I am a spoiled Steam Sale buyer, and while I want to try it based on all of the hoopla that has been said, want to wait until it's $20 or less.
I got it for 19.99 during the last steam sale, but I see it is on sale for 20 at direct2drive right now. Fun game.

The New Order went up for sale on Steam today @ $20.39 and The Old Blood for $11.99.

Been watching Rocket League played on Twitch. I'm gonna definitely buy that probably tonight after work on Steam. Looks good enough that I won't even wait for a sale. Anybody from here on Steam that play it?
Its free if you have a PlayStation Plus account and a PS4. Its very fun.
Yeah, but I don't have a PS4. Yet...

EDIT: According to the Steam game page, the game has cross-platform play with PS4 users. Awesome!

Nice. I've been playing it with my kids.

IN. I've been thinking about buying Skyrim for my PC for months now (I played it on my PS3). But if ESO is all you guys are saying it is, I am so in.

Possibly in. This doesn't require a monthly subscription or anything right?
Nope. And the specs are pretty low for a recent PC. I bought mine back in November it far outshines the required specs.

It'd be cool if some FBGs here got it and we could work the dungeons together instead of the engaging with the 13 year old MMO crowd.

Yeah we'll have to get that set up. I don't want to deal with kids.

Looks like it's currently only cross-platform through match-making. At this time, you can't add PS4 users to your party, but I read that's supposed to be patched soon. Very fun game. I could see myself playing a lot of this. Even more if I have friends on with me.

On Elder Scrolls Online:

I see a few guys are interested, but before you buy, I just want to make sure that I'm clear this isn't quite "Skyrim 2.0", but it is closer than the recent "big" games (witcher, DA) have been.

It's more "small quests" than Skyrim, and even though it's bigger, it's probably not quite as epic in storytelling. It's like they took Skyrim, made the grand epic feel and storylines 70% as good, but give us way more of it, and upped the combat nicely. I have about 20 quests open and am bouncing all over the place.

I also play these open world games with a "story" in my own mind. Probably from my DnD roots.

I really like it, and in some ways, it's even better than Skyrim (the combat is really fun). I feel like I'm right at home in an Elder Scrolls game. But just wanted to mention the above.

I spend most of my time in Skyrim roaming around doing side stuff. And while I like the plot stories in general that's not why i play. I am just out there being all heroic and explorey. As long as I can do that I'll be good I think.

You'll love this, then,

I would say anyone that got 100's of hours out of Skyrim will.

I considered picking up ESO on the xbox one, but decided to pass. Apparently on consoles, DLC cannot be shared amongst users. Only the gamertag or PSN account that bought the DLC can use it.

I've got 100s of hours in and have never finished the main story.

YEah I'm over 150 hours and I am maybe half way through the main story.

Well I just noticed that there doesn't seem to be an Xbox 360 version. I guess I am not in at least for now.
:(

They're bringing Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild to ESO next year.

http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/24/9037493/the-dark-brotherhood-thieves-guild-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited
Well maybe by then I'll have a Xbone. I am totally bummed. I was going to go get this today and even buy headphones. Oh well.

There are plenty of free to play MMOs out there that are great. Lord of the Rings Online and Knights of the Old Republic are both quality and free and will run fine on older systems.

For those that haven't MMO'd before keep in mind that the quests are usually pretty shallow. Like "go fetch me 15 bear pelts" shallow. The world may seem large but you soon realize that it's a lot of the same type of quests over and over again. I don't know if ESO is like this but I can't imagine it has the quest depth that Skyrim has.

There is a little of that, but most seem deeper, but no, not as good as the better Skyrim quests. The bigger quests are more like go here, get that, rescue him, get plans, get last piece, clear out small dungeon, done. But all of the steps are fairly simple.

I'm in ESO now and I couldn't possibly be more clueless. I sort of rushed my character creation, long brown hair, light beard, and with the default robes and sandals I look like Jesus running around with a bow and arrow. Random people have tried to start dialogues and trades with me only to get frustrated by my standing there doing nothing, so they eventually run off. I found a mine that has bandits and was doing pretty good with archery until I ran out of arrows. Now I'm Jesus plucking an empty bow until I die. So far it's fun. In town dozens of people in various levels of gear and weapons running around at full speed, stopping immediately to read a book for a few seconds, and then taking off at full speed again is hilarious. Should be a fun way to kill time until FO4.

Started playing "Remember Me" again. Began it last year but got side tracked and never came back to it till now.

The combat has a learning curve but it is very similar to Arkham. The story seems pretty intriguing so far. It has parkour similar to the Uncharted and TR series but climbing futuristic cities instead of tombs.

The interesting piece is the mind hacks. You enter someone's memory and have to recreate it to make them think they did something other than what happened. It's like a more interactive form of inception.

It didn't get very good reviews and it takes a bit to get into but this seems like a pretty awesome game so far. Anyone else played it?
Playing this now. Very stylish and I agree with your assessment of the fighting, it's all about stringing together combos which is very cool. What I am very impressed with so far is the story, they clearly put a ton of effort into it (the memory pick ups are remarkably detailed and I find them to be interesting reading). On the down side there are an awful lot of cut-scenes, typically very short but their frequency is a little bothersome and takes you out of the game a little. It is also a little awkward switching between 3rd person to 3D platformer when you start climbing and occasionally during combat you lose your perspective when you get too close to a barrier (reminds me of one of the flaws in the original Dead Space). It is also very linear, no open world exploration here but that doesn't really bother me.

But overall I think this is a really fun game and I am surprised that the ratings weren't that strong.

I'm still downloading the 48 gig game on my crappy DSL connection. Living in a rural area is great for peace and quiet - or throwing loud parties - but it sucks for services like internet and cell.

Plugging along with Dark Souls 2. I'm enjoying it more the further I get into it (currently in Sinners Rise, not too far). Still some cheap, silly moments, but I have my Greatsword up and running so I'm happy with my character build at least. I'm also shamelessly using summons for bosses that give me the slightest bit of trouble -- like the troika I just fought with two phantoms -- because I just want to play the game and enjoy it as opposed to "owning" it like I do with most of these, where I place a high value on soloing bosses.

So far, so good. I'm thinking of using a soul vessel to bottom-out my Attunement, Intelligence, Faith, and Adaptability to get more points into Strength and Vitality. Haven't decided yet if I want to go all-out down the melee-only road yet.

I got Splinter Cell Blacklist for cheap -- It's possibly my favorite game series and this is the only one I haven't beaten yet. Excited to play it, but hope it goes back to stealth instead of the more action-oriented version like Conviction.

You can play it either stealth or assault. If you want to take a stealth approach, crank the difficulty level to the highest. I played it that way and enjoyed it immensely. Thankfully it didn't force the assault part like Conviction did.

The story definitely has a lot of detail and thought. Just got done with Madame. One of the more interesting boss battles I've had in awhile.

Anybody looking forward to the new Madden 16? I am going to finally try this ultimate team thing. Seems pretty cool, started it last night on Madden 15.

First play of the 2018 All Star game - line drive to Right field and my 2017 American League MVP ranges back to make the catch... and takes the ball right on the top of the noggin. Small bit of an embarrassment but my 6 year old son thought it was the funnies thing in the world. Didn't stop him from breaking the 0-0 tie later in the 6th with a 2 run shot over the Green Monster that earned him the All-Star MVP.

Switched from Fast Play to Broadcast mode. Easy enough to skip through when you don't want it, but you get replays and a bit more drama in big moments. Also get to see your guy touch 'em all instead of cutting out after 3rd. No Doubt HR replays are also great with the split screen showing you and the pitcher.

Madame was a cool fight for sure. I forgot to mention that I like how you can recharge your special skills by performing specific combos during combat. And that you can customize your combos for maximum effect. It really adds a level of thoughtfulness to combat mechanics.

Yes. I didn't quite get it at first but during that fight I was glad I had 2 regens built into the combo so I could regain health.

Yup. I find the regen and cool-down (coupled with a chain) pressens are more valuable than the power pressen.

It wasn't till that fight that I realized their importance. Waiting for the super moves to recharge killed me more than anything in that battle.
