Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

I got into the Overwatch beta last night. Played a few matches. There's some balance work to be done there, but so far I like the style of play. The maps are pretty good with lots of places to ambush. I've only played one game mode so far, the "escort the package" one, but I've played both sides and it's good.

My battlenet is PigNewton#1400 if you are in the beta and want to play a few rounds.

Battlefront Star Wars....want to get this for the kids (and me), but have zero interest in online play. Does anybody know if it can be a single or 2 player offline game?
Online play only.
STILL can't believe this.
It hurts for the single player fans but shooters intended audiences are the online players and the stats reported over the years show a small percentage touch the single player content, so it breaks down to resource allocation basically. For example a game like titanfall was pretty solid (personal favorite shooter last year) but it would have been much worse if they added a campaign in as all resources were put into the multiplayer.
Can't imagine there is no market for a single player Star Wars game.

I just don't have the time or inclination to get into a game/universe with a bunch of jobless cosplayers who focus on the game 14 hours a day. I might have 6 hours a week, tops.
There is a market for a single player Star Wars game. Just check out every other Star Wars game not called Battlefront (or The Old Republic, I suppose). Battlefront has always been a multiplayer game.

Those looking for SP Star Wars games should look into the dated but fantastic Jedi Knight games. 1 and 2 were awesome for action and even story.
I played KOTOR 1 for the first time last year and loved it. Played KOTOR 2 this year and loved it too, until the very rushed and incomplete ending (still bizarre to me even though NCCommish explained what happened).

I would be all over a Mass Effect type game in the Star Wars universe.
I was thinking Fallout/Skyrim type game set in the Star Wars Universe would be fun.
Hopefully, we'll see a new KOTOR one day.

There's so much potential for great single player RPG/shooter type games in the Star Wars universe.

  • Be a smuggler like Han Solo, build out your own ship, take on missions for the rebellion or the Empire, explore & open up new markets for smuggling and trading.
  • Be a trainee Jedi, build out your powers, fight the empire, or maybe go rogue and do your own thing.
And on and on. Any of these character types you could come up with could have a great plotline attached to all the side missions etc. You'd have to think a Fallout/Elder Scrolls type Star Wars game would sell in the brazillians.

I'm looking forward to BO3. The Black Ops games have been some of the best COD games. The zombies looks well done and fun and I'm really looking forward to the 4 player co-op story mode. Multiplayer should be better without the horrible crazy jumping around in Advanced Warfare

Really would like to find another game like GTA, I am starting to get a little bored with it.

I enjoy the having missions to do, but if I get home from a bad day I can just go around stealing cars and killing people to let off a little steam.

Just Cause 3 coming in December. Open World and the whole premise of it is to blow things up in exaggerated and elaborate ways.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

Saints Row

Is that a new tomb raider?
Comes out next Tuesday.
I had a blast with the last tomb raider when it popped up on Games with Gold. I don't think that's the type of game I'd ever day 1 purchase though. I basically only do that for huge rpg games and sports games. The 10-12 hour action games are best to wait a few months and grab it for $20.
If I buy games on release day I'll play through one or two times then get max trade in value for it - usually around $40. The $20 depreciation is worth the playtime. If I really like it then I'll rebuy when it's $20.

Anyone know if theres a way to get a deal on a PS4 controller? One of the analog sticks has begin tearing from my raging while playing Madden. Going to need to replace it soon.
Had that happen to my controller... I just use it without the cover, I don't even notice it.

Who else is playing NBA2K16? My favorite thing to do with this is run a season with my two sons. We player lock and play together on the same team. It doesn't look like we can do that this year? Or it is extremely difficult to do so? Haven't been able to figure it out yet.

For those who will be playing Fallout 4, I just preordered it on Amazon and it was only $50 for prime users, with free release day delivery.

They guarantee lowest price and will lower it if a major retailer beats them.

Bugged and needs to be patched from everything I am reading.

A major game play patch is coming out very very soon.

Where is this? I see it as $59.98 for Prime.
Same here.
Once you put it in your cart it drops the price.

Still no go. Is that only the physical copy?

Worked for the physical copy, didn't try it for digital.

Honestly don't know, just did the physical copy as it was the first. Don't have time at the moment to go back so maybe someone else can check.

Yeah to clarify the Amazon deal, I only checked the physical copy - its not common for digital codes to be price matched or reduced - developers put a lot of pressure on retailers not to sell them below retail price as a sort of convenience tax.

Kind of funny, always makes me wonder the cost to manufacture a physical copy compared to the cost of maintaining download servers.

Gamestop just released their BF ad and it's the 500GB XBOXONE or PS4 for 299.99. It doesn't look like there's any extras included....so that makes these New Egg/Target/Amazon deals a little better.

It still blows me away that the digital editions with their lower distribution costs are always more expensive (much more expensive when you factor in the fact you can't sell them). They'll adopt a PC model one of these days, but it doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

Yep. I guess there must be a lot of price-insensitive impulse buyers out there who like digital, because those prices just do not go down unless there's a limited-time sale or something.

Well the convenience of knowing it'll be here Tuesday via digital is worth the difference I guess. Not really but I'm justifying it.

Even with the cost savings, I still like digital better for games. I love the convenience of having all of my games on the system - it's worth the cost tradeoff for me.

For movies, I used to be big into DVD's/Blu-ray - not so much anymore. I'll still buy a Blu-ray of something special, but otherwise, I'd just as soon wait until Netflx, or if I have to see it sooner, rent it from Amazon.

I'll buy physical games sometimes. But for games I know I'll never sell (Fallout 4 being one of them), it's digital. Even at a slight premium. Instant load, no scratches, potential future backward compatibility.

"1 friend already owns this game"

Slax you don't mess around.
Man, I preordered after e3. Had over $100 in my Steam wallet at the time, so I wasted no time. The only other things I've bought on Steam since then was Rocket League and Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

Rare that a game lives up to the hype. I had already purchased but that e3 killed it for me. Oh, you're going to give me the epic FO experience the fans have been clamoring about?? :in:
