Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (8 Viewers)

I can see where it left some people behind - it is more trying to be a sim than the arcade-y type game it was in the past, where you trade 60 yard bombs and never punted (or even tried a FG). It's a far more "serious" game now.
Hmm. What turned me off was the arcade-y feel. Maybe it's time to finally come back.

You're kidding right?  Last year's game a buddy and I would routinely throw for 5 to 7,000 yards and 50-70 TD every season.

Six minute clock, on all Madden, and without abusing money plays.

Don't get me wrong, last year's Madden was very good and I enjoyed it but it's still far from Sim.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in an NFL game. Do you want something like Blitz? I played a lot of Blitz. It's really fun but that's not what I want from Madden. As @jwbmentioned, I don't want Madden to be huge lob TDs, no kicking, QBs that just run around with no repercussions and the only thing that matters is speed rating.
I'm not looking for an arcade game, I just think they have made Madden worse on the next gen consoles. Madden 15' for the PS3 was great. Don't know why they felt the need to fix what wasn't even remotely broken.

There is way too much to do now when you are running the ball, and the tackle breaking mini-game is annoying as can be. Tackle breaking is basically a random QTE now, which is the last thing that should be in a sports game. Also, there is way too many issues with trying to even slightly change direction when running. Its like your runner is stuck in quicksand.

The passing system isn't as bad, but it seems like WR's drop passes 50% of the time, even without being hit.

Do I need to greatly adjust the sliders? I played on all-pro, and I felt like its almost impossible to throw anything over 15 yards, even if the WR is wide open. Can you adjust the sliders on draft champions? That is the best mode in my opinion, even though that is worse than last year as well.

I felt the previous 3 years were better games, and the switch up to PS4 hasn't helped. Maybe I need to give it more of a chance?

If it feels like you're running in mud when you're trying to change direction as a RB, its probably because you have low agility. Running with say Carlos Hyde is going to feel much different than running with Lesean McCoy. Especially if you're pressing sprint and running up your OL's backs rather than patiently finding the hole and using R1 to get skinny through it, pick your way into the cutback lane and then hitting sprint. Running without making realistic decisions and moves feels bad and results in poor runs, and different types of players feel different in the running game...that's how it should be and its a huge improvement. Using the precision moves helps, too. Its all contextual, that's all. Takes practice.

Downloaded RE4.  Controls...are terrible.  Quit after an hour.  It is so bad.  I'm struggling with moving and panning.  I don't know how I played this game so much last decade.  Sad dude.

On the other hand, Far Cry Primal looks awesome an hour in....

So just like the real NFL now?

I bought Rayman Legends a couple of weeks ago on a whim because I was itching for a platform game. Holy hell do I love this stuff, haven't played a game like this in forever. What are some other good platformers for the ps4?

Sorry.  Blame me for that one I guess. :bag:

Has anyone played Deus Ex: Mankind Divided?

I've heard about it but I haven't played it or any of the old ones. I watched a review and it seemed to be pretty good, 8/10 from GameSpot.

Not at all, was gonna get it no matter what amigo...any tips on getting used to or modifying the old controls?
Haven't fired it up yet but I have watched my friend play it. He's a resident evil fanatic and he was having the same issues with the controls. They seem to be counter intuitive. I think they can be adjusted in the settings. I'll check tonight.

Nope.  I used the default controls, and it took me several hours to get used to them.  The whole thing about having to stand still and rotate is just extremely difficult to get reacclimated to once you're used to modern TPS controls.  I finished my first run last night and started a new Pro run today, and now I'm moving around as gracefully as ever.  But I'd say it took damn near half the game before I really felt like I wasn't constantly fighting the controls.  If you never played a video game before and had no muscle memory to fight against, I don't there would be a big problem here -- the controls work fine once you get them down pat.  But all of us are used to the exact same mechanism for the left and right sticks that gets used in every other game, and it's tough to un-learn that stuff for this one particular title.

It's a year old but just got done with metal gear 5 for pc.  It was fun.  If you ever liked any metal gear, go give it a go

In the same boat. Thinking of picking it up.

Reviews mostly positive and liked what I saw of it. Nothing else is grabbing me at the moment.

Currently playing Dragon Age: Inquisition on my PS3. First game that has ever brought my PS3 to a crawl during some large fight scenes. Thought that wasn't supposed to happen on consoles? Hopefully my machine isn't dying.

With the newer Madden games you have to figure out how to adjust the sliders to your level of play. There was a guy in here (forgot the name) who posted a ton of useful info when Madden 16 came out last year. I used all his sliders and it made the game excellent.
That would be yours truly (I am known as Armor and Sword on Operation Sports)

Here you go.....for Madden 17. Have fun, the game is fantastic.

Pressing down and A(X?) simultaneously to do the little 180o turn and then running away helps a lot in that game.

Been playin BioShock 2 on PC.  It's bretty good XDDDD

Far Cry Primal was a blast, I really enjoyed that game.

You know the room in RE4 where some red ganado jumps on a minigun turret after you clear the room of everybody else?  Yeah, I managed to kill that guy before he made it to the turret.  I think that's the first time I was able to pull that off.  :brushescollar:

I'm coming around on BF1. I was having a hard time getting into it, but part of that I think was that the map is just set up for snipers everywhere.

I spent some time trying different things out and started having some fun.  I finally found a horse and went galloping looking for blood -

A couple of things -- they definitely need to make sniping harder. I'm pinging head shots all over and I'm not a good sniper. Add more sway or bullet drop or something.  Also make the dead person show up more for medics. I play medic and like reviving people but I never see anyone unless I'm right with a large group of people.

Finally cracked open Quantum Break.

I like it so far although there's a big feeling of "what am I missing" with the options available during the course of the game.

One criticism - there are too many in-game instructions that are easy to gloss over.

But the look and feel of it are really cool.

It looks beautiful, I can say that for sure.

So the new PS4 will only stream 4K content - not play 4K discs.

Which makes sense, I guess but still...boooooo!

And it also sounds like existing PS4's will have the ability to stream 4K with a firmware update. That's cool! If I had an HDR TV, that is.

Agree that it was an egregious offense but I found Javik to be the most boring character in the bunch.
Really? Maybe, but his story is cool and adds to the overall arc tremendously.

The worst characters, and I don't mean this to sound racist, were Jacob and James - the former being dull and the latter being annoying.

They also seem to be the most stereotypical "Bro" characters. Jacob all about pumping iron and his guns. Same with James and his stupid comments.

Javik was an ##### which was nice for a change. His back story was the most interesting to the lore. Him as a character was kind of meh though.  They could have done a lot more with him.

I liked how droll Javik was.

Tali: So you're a real living Prothean?

Javik: As opposed to a fake dead one?

Javik: I told Liara that Protheans invented electricity. Heh heh. Asari will believe anything.

:lmao:

Urdnot Wrex: I prefer my salarian liver served raw!
[the salarian soldiers glare at Wrex]
Javik: He is correct. It was a... delicacy in our cycle.

Madden 17 Amazon lighting deal $40
Damn, they got me.  I was regretting not getting the Prime price ($48) at release because it seems Madden games hold their price well into the holidays.

Will be my first Madden in several years, but the early reviews have me intrigued.

He sounded like a space Rastafarian.  I guess it explains why the Citadel looks like a giant blunt.

Should have realized this before but it just hit me...

The Xbox One S will play UHD 4K discs but the PS4 won't.

Score one for Microsoft.
Apparently Sony's reasoning is that people who watch video are going more toward 4K streaming (which the PS4 Pro will handle) as opposed to using physical media.  Most of the reason their users use a physical media player is for games, so no 4K is required.  The spin being that you don't have to pay for a 4K player that might be useless to you if you haven't bought a 4K TV and 4K discs.

Protheans didn't make the Citadel. Maybe the Reapers were hitting the ganje.

Which is an odd spin/stance coming from them considering all the arguments made back in the Blu-Ray PS3 vs non-Blu-Ray xbox 360 days.

I was looking at the 2TB XB1S.

So this is even worse (from the UHD perspective)- the PS4p is both more expensive AND it doesn't have a UHD drive.
Supposedly the PS4 Pro is more capable of close to 4K. Sony also teamed up with devs to make some order games have increased graphics.

Right now the xb1s is going to compete with the slim and pro. Really the S seems to be the better option, IMO. None of these consoles are worth "upgrading" to if someone already has a PS4 or X1.

If graphics/4K are truly that important to someone they should get a PC.

That's wrong. And that same page corrects itself later

The Citadel was not, in fact, constructed by the Protheans; they were simply the last race to make use of the station before the asari arrived. It, and the mass relays, are the creations of the Reapers, and were built to help facilitate their cycle of galactic genocide. The Reapers were also responsible for the placement of the keepers on the station, in order that the occupying races would not discover the Citadel's key functions

If Rockstar were to surprise announce Red Dead 2 next year (like Bethesda did with Fallout 4), 2017 would immediately be a top contender for best year of gaming.
