Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Bloodborne

Also what does up on road do?  I get 5 something but lose life
I assume you are new to Souls games?  If so read on

1) I don't think you are any where near a boss.  Believe me, you will know when you face one :)

2) I am unsure what you are saying about "people running around the board"  What board are you referring to?

3) In general, you want to kill every guy you see.  There are relative few bad guys in these games but you can't let them ever surround you or corner you.  Take them out one at a time

4) If you die, you lose what ever echo's you had accumulated and return to the last check point (there are numerous check points in game that define the start of an area)

5) Hunter's Mark is a consumable that allows your character to reawaken (be teleport-ed to the main hub of the game) at the cost of all your echos.  No need to use early in the game.

6) I don't know what "up on the road" refers to.  From your description it sounds like you pressed one of the arrows on the controller which gets you more bullets (for your ranged weapon in your left hand) at the cost of some of your life.

are those any good?
Haven't played season 3 yet, obviously, but they are fantastic. I think season 2 is on par with season 1. Allow about 15 hours to finish each one. I will always keep The Last of Us above them but these are great games for the price, for sure. Stay away from spoilers. Also, at least play on an iPad mini. It'd be tough to play on a phone.

have you played on a laptop?

Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold sale started today. There's a few good titles/prices it seems.

Also, my son and I have ended up playing quite a bit of Star Wars Battlefront this year. The deluxe add-ons, with 12 extra maps...worth it for under $20?

Games I am tracking for the Steam sale tomorrow.

Dark Souls 3

Darksiders 2

Baulders Gate 2 EE

Pillars of Eternity

I would love to find a survival type game to try.  Any recommendations?  Seven Days To Die looks interesting on Twitch but I saw it got some horrible reviews when first released.
Throw Divinity Original Sin in there and you're good for 2017.

Oh great, I'm going to buy more games I can't play!
I still get dizzy five minutes into playing Battlefront or COD on PS4.  Changing it to third person helped a bit but it's frustrating.  My son wants an XBox one now so I'm gonna grab it tomorrow.   He's eleven and wants GTA but I'm not so sure about that.  I had GTA on Dreamcast and it was fun.

I don't know what your parenting views are on bad language and sex and whatnot, but GTAV is a legit adult game. If it were a movie, it would be a hard R for sure.

For instance, here's the intro scene for Trevor / https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6IIpsJaBIPU

It is at Best Buy for $40. 20% off that if you have their Gamers Club Unlocked membership (which you should if you buy new games - $30 for two years worth).
Cool. I don't buy new games though. Like ever. Also need it on steam.  For various reasons

ok in my Steam cart right now is

Dark Souls 3, Pillars of Eternity, Baulders Gate 2 EE, Legend of Grimlock 1 and 2, and How to Survive.

Total is $67 for the 6 games.   DS3 being the most expensive at $30.  I might drop the Legend of Grimlock games since this is probably more games than I can handle before the next sale in the summer.

Lots of good deals though all around.

Looks like I am going to have some time to decide which games.  The Steam interface to paypal looks broken.  It keeps crashing each time I try to pay...

The year is almost done and I was wondering what everyone's Top 5 of 2016 is.
The main two games I played all year were R6 Siege and Rocket League. I guess both technically came out the previous year.

For 2016 exclusively, it's Dark souls 3 followed by Battlefield 1. I think that's it.

Overwatch and BF1 would both be in my Top 5 but both (especially BF) have enough flaws to not get the #1 spot. However, I don't know what other games to even put in my top 5.

I didn't play a bunch of the big games though. Uncharted 4, I burnt out on Uncharted playing the collection before I got to it. GoW 4 and Forza, I don't have an Xbox. Civ6, is part of a franchise that I'm really into for a month or two then don't touch for a couple years. FF15, I just started. Dishonoured 2, Watch Dogs 2, The Last Guardian and Deux Ex, are all games that don't appeal to me enough to play over whatever I'm into. And the Souls, Doom and XCOM franchises just aren't my thing.

There's also a ton of "small" games that I missed too. Star dew Valley, Fire Watch, Inside.

In no particular order (actually alphabetical order, but you get it):

Battlefield 1

Dark Souls III

Darkest Dungeon

Dishonored 2

Doom

For me 2016 top 5 was:

MLB The Show 16

NBA 2K17

Uncharted 4

Far Cry Primal

Madden 17

Still in my que from 2016:

Dishonored 2

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

TellTales Batman

Inside is a good one that I forgot. I beat that one in one go when my wife was sick and went to bed early. That was a trippy game.

The only game I played this year that was actually released in 2016 was the Blood and Wine expansion for Witcher 3 (which is excellent). Just picked up Dishonored 2 and will get to that soon.

Yes it was.  I thoughts hearts of stone was better though

Only new releases I got to play were DOOM, Gears 4 and Dead Rising 4. DOOM was amazing. Gears 4 has its moments and DR4 I haven't played enough of yet but I'm liking it.

Wanted to play XCom 2, Civ 6 and some others but didn't have the time to dedicate to them. So I figured I'd wait till the price dropped.
