Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (8 Viewers)

I used to play this, but I remember the hit detection being incredibly bad, walking miles and miles before reaching any action only to immediately get one shot.  That said I still had fun.  My favorite was to walk to an enemy town where nothing was happening, hide somewhere, and then watch dozens of people spawn and try to find me wondering where the invasion was coming from.
They've added a lot to fix those issues.  You can drive a truck to anywhere and make a spawn point, so getting to the action is much quicker. The hit detection has improved as well.

Sometimes I'll just sit in an open field and look up and watch the dog fights.  So cool.

Then a sniper will get me.

Fortnite - loving this game. Amazing fun. I’ve had a bunch of top 5 finishes, a few top 3 finishes, and a single 2nd place.  No wins. It’s coming though, I can feel it.

Looking at Forza 7 next week but thT huge HD hit it requires (and I don't have an external drive on my X1) may make me think twice

Had some fun last night, for some reason I got inspired to make my first purchase from GOG.com and downloaded Incubation, a Xcom mission style (minus the base/tech management) turn based strategy game.  I've always loved that game and used to always have a copy, but it was lost in some of my more recent computer transitions.  1998 or so graphics kinda suck, but still a fun game.

Where do people sell hard copies of games these days?  I used to use eBay's half.com but apparently that's closed. Amazon/GameStop, I guess?

Went back to a VERY old game (PC) that has just been released on Steam.  WWIIOnline.  This game has outdated graphics (by a decade), and an incredibly steep learning curve.  But man, it is fun once you get into it.  if you're a fan of team play and strategy, and don't care too much about graphics, and are a fan of the WWII genre, it could be a good game for you.

I played it when it came out way back in 2001 for a few years, dropped it because of life, and went back to it occasionally.

It has so many things you can do.  And so many different types of each.  You can drive a tank, a truck, re-supply, fly a fighter plane, a bomber, get on a boat or destroyer, man an AA or AT gun, parachute from a plane, destroy bridges, build bridges, dig foxholes, use a bazooka, capture spawn points or army bases.  All things are player driven. Small amount (miniscule) ai that guard far away cities from attack while the map is progressing.  You can play German, French, British, and American (American army only right now).

Holy crap.  I haven't heard from that game in a long time.  Are the servers still active?

I finished Dishonored 1 (got the semi-bad ending) last week and started Sleeping Dogs on PS3 this weekend. I really like the combat system. It reminds me of the Batman games that makes it really easy to learn combos and you get a variety of attacks without complicated controls.
But only after a few hours of playing, the stats says I'm already 20% through the game. :(  I hope it's not a short campaign.

Sure are.  Actually only one server, one map.  One BIG map, with no limits.  I am playing this first month free since the steam release, then i will decide if I will continue.  It's a lot of fun despite the decade+ old graphics. The game play/teamwork is top notch, as it always has been.

Anyone else playing NBA 2k18?  I wanna hear your thoughts on the new MyCareer.
This game owns my soul.

I strictly play MyLeague and MyGm. It is hands down the very best 2K since 2K11. I shelved 2K16 and 17 in short order due to the developers caving to online whiners with multiple patches running offline gameplay.

This year they nailed gameplay out of the box and give you the deepest franchise mode available in sports games. I will play this title for years and years. I played 2K11 for 5 years.....had not felt this great about a 2K B-Ball game since that one.

Currently playing:

2K18

Madden 18

The Show 17

TellTales Batman Season 1

Looking forward to:

Wolfenstein The New Colossal

I've played every NBA2K game since 2K11.  I'm curious to hear your review of how the offline gameplay was ruined in the previous games.

I played 2K15.....enjoyed it a lot. Got 16....it was ok. But 17 was patched to death and changed the feel of defense and shooting over and over and over. Just my opinion.

18 is simply a different game from the previous versions on PS4. Feels far better and not as animation driven as previous versions.

Hmm, without details it is hard to know what you're getting at.  I feel every game plays a little bit differently.  Sometimes certain aspects are adjusted from year to year, but I didn't notice big things changing during the life of the same game.  Shooting feels different year to year (I hated last years mechanics until I got used to it).  Last year was tough to get blocks, but this year if you are in position, it feels like stealing how easy they are.  But I feel like if they didn't tweak from year to years, there's no reason to buy it new constantly.  During the life of a single game though, I don't feel these changes.

A bit of a tangent, but what headsets do you all use/reccomend?  I think I need a new one for PUBG.  I have a cheap old Logitech set for my PC that just doesn't have the directional response I need.

I really enjoy the game, but I can't stand MyPlayer/MyCareer right now because the shooting is broken.  "Good" shots never go in, even when wide open.  It either has to be early release or perfect.  I won't spend another VC on stats until it's fixed.  And it's not something that I'm the only one complaining about.  It seems like everyone playing MyCareer is complaining about shooting.  I basically just focus on getting rebounds and setting up my teammates for shots, since none of mine go in.

But MyTeam and MyLeague plays fine, IMO.  I've been spending most of my time in MyTeam.  I haven't touched MyGM yet, but I'll likely play it soon.

I played this back in the day. Going to have to check it out.

I used to love going on Stuka runs, but it was A LOT of work.

PUBG is super laggy for me (at times). I assume its my computer, because the network normally zips along just fine
What are your specs? I was really laggy when I first spun it up on my old machine but finally built a new one with a ton of RAM, year and a half old i7 and my 3 year old 770 video card and it’s a beautiful thing.

Anyone played the demo for Star Wars Battlefront 2? Seems like it's a good improvement over 1. Plays more like a Battlefield game. Open world for all of the vehicles, unlike the 1st. I'm pretty deep in the Destiny 2 addiction, but this one might pull me back from the abyss.

uh, an iMac :sadbanana:

3.3GHz quad core Intel Core i5

8 GB ram

AMD Radeon R9 with 2 GB memory

I finished up my "commander" (hard) run through XCOM 2 a few days ago.  It was hard as hell at the start, but again I was pretty much rolling over everything by the 3/4 mark.  This is a great sequel to Enemy Unknown and definitely scratched an itch that had been there for a while.  That said, I'm a little burned out on it.  My two playthroughs took about 70 missions combined, and I don't think I'm up for a "legendary" attempt.

I'm a big fan of the Kingston HyperX headsets.  I've had a Cloud for years and really like it.  It works fine with my Xbox One too, which is right next to my PC, so I can use it for both.  FYI, I have seen them on sale for $20 off on Amazon every so often.

It has good directional placement of footsteps/gunfire?
