I'm just far too slow and indecisive.  I don't have the reflexes I used to.  It's a very cool game, I celebrated like I'd just won the Super Bowl when I finally took someone out rather than just getting killed instantly every time.  The fact that I got wiped out myself about 45 seconds later was immaterial.

I'm with you. I used to be fairly decent at FPS back in my 20's on PC. I even competed in some Iron Glove League tourneys on Counter-Strike. But I don't stand a chance on a PS4 controller. Plus, the building aspect is odd with a steep learning curve.

GTA Online is now bigger than ever.  GTAV has been top 10 sales in sales every year since launch, even now over 4 years after launch.  Last year was the biggest year ever for the GTA Online and December was the biggest month ever.  Link

I hope RDR2 will have a good online mode and microtransactions have been confirmed  , but I'm not sure the longevity it will have.  Racing is a big part of GTA Online, I can't see that being as much fun with horses.  Maybe I'm wrong.

I just hope the story mode of RDR2 is solid.  I fear RockStar will focus too much on online and neglect the story mode, which has happened with other companies.

Yeah, I can recall speculating what the online mode would be like for RDR2, although you could do heists like banks and train robberies, wagon trains, etc. the time period would be more limiting with what you could do compared to GTA. Online was very clunky in Red Dead 1 but provided the basis for a lot of the initial setup for what they did for GTAV.

Have also heard that the microtransactions have made GTA5 pay to win, but that hasn't kept it from being super successful.

I wouldn't say its pay to win, well maybe for PVP but that's not my bag.  I refuse to give in to microtransactions and I still have fun w/ GTA Online.

The Saga of Tornado Man (continued):  Episode 2: The Butcher and Leap

Tornado Man is growing into his role as a leader.  This is most readily seen by his consistent use of the phrases, "This way... this way guys... come this way" while backtracking to an area of the map we've already covered multiple times and, "man, WE just did that... that was awesome" after killing anything resembling a boss (read: the bad guy is bigger than his character).  Great leaders give credit to the team.

He's also showing growth in his self esteem and self recognition as demonstrated by his ceaseless mutterings of, "Don't worry, I'm a Barbarian" and, "Barbarians are the strongest of all the game".  He's also very quick to learn new skills as the second he gains a level, he equips whatever new skill he's earned and uses it exclusively until the next skill becomes available.  Material items also mean nothing to Tornado Man as he is quick to discard his current item for whatever the next item he picks up is.  It matters not that he's trading the "Giant Great Axe of Bul Kathos' Rending Destruction" for "Simple Dagger" as it's fairly obvious that the axe has been dulled by all the slaughtering (of walls) he's been doing and the dagger is shiny and new.

On our most recent adventure to rescue the stranger from Maghda's henchmen, Tornado Man discovered the LEAP ability.  This allows the mighty barbarian to cover great expanses of ground quickly.  It also grants the ability to jump on to or down from ledges that would otherwise force him to walk to a staircase and ascend/descend like a peasant.  This is especially convenient when you want to trap your party mates in an area while using your leadership phrases to encourage them to find unique solutions to their inability to leap 30 feet into the air.  There's nothing more motivating than "Come on guys, we HAVE to go this way!", over and over until the game finally decides you're stuck and teleports you to your leader.

The party eventually leapt and backtracked our way to the Chamber of Suffering.  Home of Maghda's most brutal enforcer, the infamous Butcher.  Before entering the lair, the more experienced party members instructed Tornado Man not to stand in fire when it comes out of the floor.  In turn, Tornado Man reminded them not to worry as he can just leap out of it.  That wisdom having been imparted, Tornado Man decided it was time to enter the chamber (while dad was not at his controller, letting the dogs out to pee).

As most epic battles do, this one began with a Michael Buffer-esque introduction of our opponent.  As a projection of Maghda introduced The Butcher, Tornado Man could be seen with what might have been panic in his eyes.  The party would later be informed that Tornado Man was not worried at all and he just thought the cut scene was awesome.  With the introductions made, the battle would commence.

And a fierce battle it was.  Tornado man belied his incredible size and bulk with his impressive nimbleness.  While his more fragile party members were engaged in combat with the beast, Tornado Man was demonstrating his ability to leap out of the fire.  Furious battle cries of "See", "I did it again!", "This is easy", and "Did he just say FRESH MEAT???", could be heard over the sounds of battle.  When the beast was finally vanquished Tornado Man voiced his pleasure with a single word.  "Loots!"

Shortly after dispatching his foe the party was able to free the Stranger who turned out to be a mighty angel sent from the heavens with a vital warning.  Tornado Man did not hear any of this vital information as he was busy tending to more important matters... equipping every item that dropped from his enemy.

With their enemies vanquished and their new ally rescued, the party retired to brush their teeth (well this time, not super fast and lazy like this morning) and turn in for some much needed rest.

Unfortunately for the citizens of New Tristram, Tornado Man has Karate tonight so they will be on their own until he can return.  Hopefully, that will be Thursday night as long as he completes his required studies, follows directions (the first time!), and doesn't be a jerk to anyone until then.

My son has had quite a time with this.  He has won games by building high over the rest and lobbing death down on them.  His most epic moment, in his words, was when they basically constructed a stairway/building that went hundreds of feet up.  They all died when the other squad just destroyed it and let them fall, but he and his friends were laughing so hard they felt it was worth it.  They were in the #######g clouds for Pete's sake.

I said I was loving the new Assassins Creed but that's before I realized it was so repetitive. Every mission and side mission is almost exactly the same. And there's so many of them. I still haven't left the second area and have been playing for hours. There's no way I can 100% this game and at this point I'm not even sure I will finish it.

I still haven't left the second area and have been playing for hours. There's no way I can 100% this game and at this point I'm not even sure I will finish it. 

I played the first 2 to completion but I have no idea how they’ve made so many of these. I must admit the one set in London with the bare knuckle fighting does look cool but I’m afraid of the repetitiveness. I also never ever liked the whole back and forth between the past and future angle. Really destroyed any sense of immersion and completely unessesary.

But you’re right about the repetitive quests. I’m pretty sure I cleared one bandit camp 4 times. Then went on to clear about 1000 more in those first couple areas.

Sounds like the advice I got for Witcher 3 back when. I found it getting awfully boring trying to clear areas. Went out and advanced the main story line here and there to break it up. Worked wonders. Of course I never did go back and finish all the side missions.

Anyway to recover deleted data. Been playing Lego Marvel 2 since Christmas and we were like 80% complete and my son accidentally picked new game and saved over our save file and now he's hysterical. I'm pretty pissed myself lol.

The wife and I decided my kid (6yo) was mature enough to play Diablo 3.  We're playing 3 players and so far the Barbarian that goes by the name "Tornado Man" has single handedly guided his weak and frail parents through killing the Skeleton King*.  At one point I heard him whisper to himself how "sick" his moves were.  More updates to follow.

*Tornado Man currently spends most of his time attacking walls because he loses track of his character.

Been that way for too long.  I stopped playing 3 weeks ago.

It got so ridiculous.  I think the last time I played was the Sunday night that are usual group got killed by cheater like 2 straight games,  Feels Bad, but it's just not fun looting for 10 mins only to be killed by someone instantly from 1000 meters away. 

Such a good game too.

For those who like Rogue-like games, I cannot recommend Slay The Spire for PC enough.

It is unbelievably fun and addicting, only 15 bucks, and can run on even the weakest of laptops or computers.

Even if you don't like Rogue-like games, this would be a great entry into the genre as it's quite straightforward and explains everything.  Best time waster I've ever downloaded

Stealth is not completely forced upon you, but you will have a hard time just 100% brute-forcing your way through same-level bandit camps and whatnot. You can do a lot of sniping/etc, then go in and clean up, though. But it isn't quite as "do it any way you want" as a Far Cry game is. Unless, of course, you do level 12 camps when you are level 14 (etc). You can chop them up pretty good then. 

The above said, they made sneaking/hiding/stealth MUCH smoother than in the past. AC games have always had fairly wonky controls - this one doesn't. Stealth is a lot of fun.

To address the past/present thing someone else mentioned, they downplay the present heavily in this game. It's 95% "past".

Finished Life Is Strange: Before The Storm

 Not quite as interesting as the first without the alternate reality angle and it makes it more awkward to be playing as an angst ridden 16 year old girl, but it does tell an interesting story and deals with adulthood type themes.

The biggest drawback though is that the conversations happen almost painfully slowly. Since there are only three chapters I think they purposefully dragged out the game.

Yep, Chinese are an issue in PUBG on the PC. Get rid of sales of loot online and the problem instantly stops.

Wow, I had a Video Game "Moment" tonight.  I've spent the weekend cleaning out old computer cable/accessory/home theater boxes of crap that have been sitting around for YEARS.  Once I get something boxed it's just easier to carry around then clean out.  Clearing out the last box that had a lot of my old PC game stuff I found my original 1994/5ish Civilization manual.  Don't have the discs anymore, but somehow that manual has survived in my boxes for over 20 years.  I still remember buying that game at Babages in Northbrook Court and it was between that and a Sierra Robin Hood game.  Some hundred "just one more turns" I made the right choice.  It's almost hard to throw that in the recycling, can I frame it or something ?

I loved the game on PS2 and look forward to playing it again on the PS4 Pro. Should be a treat. Such a great game.

Its damn frustrating because of the cheaters, but damn if PUBG isn't an incredible experience when its working. Just picked up my 3rd ever solo chicken dinner (with 6 kills) and its easily the most satisfying feeling I've ever felt in gaming. Your heart starts pumping when you get down to like 10 people and its exhilarating when you see that last target and put him down.

Obviously there's a lot of luck involved, but there's also so much strategy and skill.  The cat and mouse,hunter vs hunted aspect is just awesome in a 1 on 1  battle.

Grandpa Tornado Man has been in town so between that and Karate (correction, it's Taekwondo, Tornado Man is very particular about his martial arts) play time has been sparse.  We did manage to get a couple short sessions in while Grandpa Tornado was visiting his other kids in town.

We started the first session with a trip to the caravan leader to make our way to Caldeum.  During the cut scene that was voiced by his character, Tornado Man showed how well he'd been paying attention to the story with the phrase, "Who is that talking?".  His eyes got wide when he realized that we were going to a town that was taken over by one of the Lords of Hell.  When I asked, he assured me he was not worried but once we loaded in, he proceeded with trepidation until he realized we were just entering the "town" area.

It was at this point dad made a critical error.  Dad introduced Tornado Man to the different gear dyes.  On top of wanting to try every type of dye on each piece of gear, Tornado Man is still not the swiftest at menu controls.  After literally 15 minutes, Tornado Man has picked his outfit which consists of blue boots, white pants, orange chest, white gloves, and blue helm (go Broncos).  We were then ready to continue our quest for Maghda.

As we entered the city of Caldeum we met a character decked out in armor.  When Tornado Man addressed her as "Guard", she informed him that she is NOT a guard but the head of the Iron Wolves.  Tornado Man replied with, "Dang... snippy".  The Snippy Lady told us how to continue our quest but it was time for dinner so we called it a night.

I remember the old Gears of War days when you were the last guy left and you knew all your friends were watching. You never wanted to let them down and they were all pulling for you.
