**Vikings at Falcons** (-3.5, 37.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Can the Vikings rally behind hall to pull off a win?

Can Pitts do something?

These are my major questions I’m looking for answers to.

Christian Darrisaw downgraded to questionable today with a groin injury. Currently graded as the 2nd best offensive lineman in the league by pff.

Hopefully he can play through it even if he is only at 80% of his normal effectiveness. The Vikings need him to do well in this game.

I have been catching up a bit on what the Vikings defense has been doing and they are running more cover zero than any other defense in the league. It's a high risk high reward strategy that has the Vikings defense in the top half of the league in key metrics like yards given up per play and points given up per play.

The defense has played particularly well over the last 3 games not allowing more than 20 points per game.

Due to the frequent cover zero looks the defense hasn't done as well vs good QBs like Mahomes, Herbert and Hurts as it has vs average or below average QBs.

I don't think Heinicke or Ridder are above average but Heinicke is more experienced than Ridder so the Vikings would likely prefer to play vs Ridder but Heinicke will start.

If the Vikings can control the Falcons running game they have a good chance to win this game.

Turnovers as always will be key and Jaren Hall needs to protect the football. There has been some confusion at times in the Falcons secondary, especially in their last game vs the Titans. If that continues some big plays may be available for Hall to take advantage of.

I think Heinicke is an upgrade (at least temporarily) from Ridder, but losing London hurts a lot. I think this is a lower scoring game with Cousins gone.

For Atlanta, the key is going to be protecting enough for Heinicke to take some deep shots, preferably against Byron Murphy who makes 1-2 really awful plays weekly. The question is who makes those plays, and without London, I don't really know.

For the Vikings, I think they do a good job limited what is asked of Hall. I'm expecting a 10+ target day for Hockenson.

I'll say Vikings win 21-17, and we get a lot of postgame talk about who the Vikings starting QB is for week 10.

Van Jefferson is expected to take over Londons role in the offense from what I have heard.

Akayleb Evans the other starting corner for the Vikings had a neck injury that limited him earlier on the week, but he had a full practice on Friday and not listed on the injury report.

The Falcons defense is rated as better than the Vikings right now. FS DeMarcco Hellams will be out this game. He often plays when they move SS Richie Grant into the box. From what I saw Grant and Jesse Bates the Falcons safeties made a lot of coverage mistakes vs the Titans.

They run a lot of the Elephant look where its more of a 4-3 but listed as a 3-4 and they play a lot of quarters and 3 deep coverage similar to Seattle.

I don’t understand the line on this game. I think the Vikings are the better team. I think Hall is going to play fine and run a bit.

23-17 Vikings.

Winner is in the playoff conversation for sure.
Falcons should try to run.
Vikings can't run.
Interesting qb matchup.
No weather concerns. No excuses.
The somewhat tarnished crystal ball says...

Minny- 27
Mylanta- 23

Normally I'd say a young, unproven QB is a death knell for a team. However, Atlanta's defense is not really built to take advantage of it.

Minnesota 19
Atlanta 16

I think its pretty simple.

Atlanta is at home. Atlanta has the better defense. Atlanta has a strong running game.

Where the Vikings are stronger, in the passing game is now a complete question mark with Jaren Hall at QB.

Spoken like a true Vikings fan.

I don’t disagree with you. If the Vikings had even a sniff of a run game I’d feel better. But expecting a 6th round rookie QB to come in and sling it? Not good BiaBob.

5th rounder who is 25 years old so a bit more experienced than most rookies.

Hall was actually pretty good with a clean pocket in college but bad when pressured. Thus why he was a 5th round pick.

The Falcons are one of the top defenses in terms of pressure, 3rd down stops and a lot of other categories.

Falcons line does not have that edge that chip on their shoulder determination that most do.

This should be very easy to say hand the ball to Bijan but they're not ...for a very good group on paper, they're never all that determined

Mattison looks darn good whenever he has blocking this year. Vikings line hasn't done him any favors today or recently.
They look quite different than the guys blocking for Dalvin

He looks acceptable with blocking.

Good thing the Vikings got 6th round picks for Vederian Lowe and Ezra Cleveland. They didn't need those guys...

Time for each team to put a FB out there and run into the backs of linemen til they get moving
