I have a question for someone who follows the vikings. Why did Corey Chavous and Brian Russell combine for 17 INTs in the 2003 season? What was the difference? They both averaged just over one INT per year before that, and last year both had just one pick each.I've been looking at it for a few days.... what gives? Any ideas on what led to that magical season for them?

Just one of those years where the ball bounces the right way. Even Brian Williams got a few.IIRC, there were a lot of tips that fell right into their laps.

nah, that's not why. Luck doesn't give someone twice as many INTs in one season as he's had total in his entire career. For both safeties....

...anyone know any potential answer to this? Was it injuries to another position, certain blitz plays, or anything?

I am thinking perhaps it had to do with the def coordinator's scheme, because they had a new coord in 2004, but who was there in the 03 season?

maybe it was something more. O'Leary was the coach at that time I think. Also something to know is that they got almost all those int's in the first half of the season. Second half a total between them of 1 maybe 2.

yeah, didn't notice that.... hmmThere has to be something that contributed to this. More blitzing or something.... I'm stumped :P

Apparently the Vikings were, too, or I'm sure they would have kept doing whatever it was.

didn't the vikings start that season almost scoring at will. I would guess that teams were playing from behind a lot, needing to pass to catch up.
