Vince Young (1 Viewer)

Hasn't been much, if any, talk about Vince Young lately. Not saying he necessarily deserves it, but would think he would have been signed by now even as a backup. Any potential landing spots or might he actually go unsigned/retire?

He'll find a roster spot. Once training camp and preseason injuries hit, he'll get a short term deal, if not sooner. The clipboard beckons.

Was kind of hoping he'd show up in Indy, Jax, or Hou as a backup. All three have backup roles available (not so much indy anymore), and he'd get to play the Titans a couple times. Might make for a small storyline if he took over as the starter since Schaub is often hurt and Gabbert is awful haha.

I don't know if he's the type of player the Bills like to bring in, but I kinda think Chan Gailey and his offense can possibly fix Vince Young. The Bills are in need of a better backup than Tyler Thigpen. Chan likes to utilize athletic QB's. He has been able to get stuff out of guys that don't have much to offer and I think Young would be wise to come to Buffalo and see what him and Chan can do.

Ya I think Buffalo is a good fit for him. Wondering where McNabb goes too. Every qb the eagles release or trade seems to instantly suck.

if you could combine mcnasty and vince old you would have a pretty crappy qb who cant throw or run and who wants to get paid a lot to stink the joint up and frankly that is bad for business so my prediction is that they will not be signed together to the same team and will go there separate ways

Never suggested they would go anywhere together. Just was also wondering where Mcnabb would go. You'd think those two will get picked up after the draft depending on if teams miss out on the tannehill/weeden qbs they may be targeting.

Good Call

No way the Texans sign Vince. There are still too many Vince lovers in Houston, they will be clamoring for him to start, even though he won't have earned it. Also, I really don't see Vince being a Kubiak type of guy (i.e. hard worker, disciplined).

I simply cannot believe he failed, Uncle Rico throwing motion and all.

The UT/USC championship was the most amazing athletic feat I've ever personally witnessed as it occurred.

Not sure why Houston's name always gets linked with Vince rumors or rumblings, maybe it's because he's from here. Kubiak has never shown the slightest interest in Vince.Besides, they have a guy named TJ Yates that just led them to the playoffs after Schaub went down and won them their first ever playoff game.

Bills add T-Jax and cut Vince Young. This is looking like the end for Young.

When do you know you suck as a QB? When they replace you with T-Joke.
T-Jax did not play half bad last season. Much better option than Vinny.
His claim to fame was when, while in Minn, he panicked, spun around, jumped up while trying to throw the ball before getting leveled. When do you know you suck as a QB? When you come into the league after David Carr and leave before David Carr.

Vince Young is broke

Posted by Mike Florio on September 18, 2012, 10:44 PM EDT

Six years ago, quarterback Vince Young became the third overall pick in the draft, signing a contract with the Titans that paid him $26 million.

Now, Young is out of the NFL — and out of money.

“I would just say that Vince needs a job,” attorney Trey Dolezal told the Associated Press regarding Young’s financial situation.

Young has sued his former agent, Major Adams, and a financial planner, Ronnie Peoples. Young claims that they misappropriated $5.5 million, via forged signatures and impersonated phone calls and emails. Young also alleges that a $1.7 million lockout loan in 2011 was obtained in his name by Adams and Peoples.

“They conspired to take Vince’s money,” Dolezal said. “It’s that simple.”

Regardless of where the money went, the money is gone. And Dolezal thinks Young was dumped by the Bills because of the financial issues. “I wasn’t in the room when [the Bills] made a decision, but what would you think? It certainly wouldn’t help me if I’m the owner or the head coach knowing all this is going on with Vince and then he goes out and plays poorly,” Dolezal said.

The Bills declined comment on the reasons for cutting him. Regardless of the reason(s), the Bills didn’t want him — and no one else does, either.

Okkkkay then. I was on the 45 yard line, 8 rows up for Vince Young's last game as a Bill. I had no idea about his financial woes, but even with 12+ beers in me I turned to my friend and said, "I bet this is his last game as a Bill."He was that bad.

Right. Because that makes sense. Surely it was his money problems and not because he played poorly.

I hear you. Had he thrown 10 TD passes in the preseason I have a feeling the Bills wouldn't care about his financial issues. I

Vince Young to star in worst 'Billy Madison' remake ever

Chris Strauss, USA TODAY Sports6:02p.m. EST March 5, 2013

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

"Back to school, back to school.....to prove to teams that I'm no fool."

In a plot twist resembling the 1995 comedy Billy Madison, which starred Adam Sandler as a entitled hotel heir who squandered his privilege and must repeat every grade in school to inherit his father's company, former NFL quarterback Vince Young has returned to the University of Texas to finish his degree.

An admirable pursuit, for sure, but there's also one other thing, according to Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel.

Vince Young, back on campus this semester finishing his degree, will work out at Texas' pro day, according to Mack Brown.

Yes, Young, who turns 30 in May and was selected the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, will be in the mix with a handful of current Longhorns, all trying to prove to NFL scouts that they belong in the league. No player on Texas' current roster had the kind of college career Young did, leading the team to a national title following his All-American 2005 season.

Yet Young's pro career proved an inconsistent misuse of talent and wealth, with Young finding himself out of work and broke despite earning $26 million in six years of pro football. There were the tales of $5000 weekly trips to the Cheesecake Factory, $600 shots of Louis XIII de Remy Martin at Morton's after games and more.

While Mack Brown's desire to give Young one final showcase for his talents is a fine gesture, Young is going to have to almost perform better at this tryout than he did during predraft tests seven years ago. After throwing four touchdowns and nine interceptions (and getting sacked 36 times) in six appearances with Philadelphia in 2011, most NFL teams don't have much of a recent memory of what Young was once capable of on a football field.

It would be one of the greatest comeback stories in NFL history if Young somehow finds the way back to being a productive player in the league again. But unless he's managed to find a new commitment to the game that has been absent until this time, this scene isn't likely to have a Hollywood ending.

Why does he need to be a productive player? Can't he just be a backup somewhere and live a normal life?

From PFT.

Vince Young: I was the victim, I was taken advantage ofAs he attempts to persuade some NFL team to give him another chance, Vince Young says he wants every team to understand that his off-field issues are behind him.Young said on NFL AM that although he has been a distraction at times in his NFL career, that largely stemmed from his financial difficulties — difficulties that he believes are not his fault.“I really want teams and organizations to know that I was young at a time and I put my trust in a lot of people, and I was getting taken advantage of,” Young said. “Basically, I’m the victim of the situation. So I’ve just got to clean up that mess, just to let teams know I’m a little bit more mature than I used to be, I’ve grown a whole lot, and I just want teams to understand that you’re getting a little bit more mature quarterback that understands the professionalism of the game.”Young also acknowledged that he made mistakes during his time with the Titans, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler but eventually got dumped by coach Jeff Fisher. Young said he recently sent a letter of apology to Fisher for not handling things the right way during their time together, and he also said he doesn’t think it was his play on the field that derailed his career. Instead, Young believes off-field issues are the reason he is currently a free agent just hoping for some team to give him a shot.“I don’t really feel like it was my game, I just feel like it was some off-the-field issues, with some of the things that, as I was cleaning up a lot of the mess outside the field, I really feel like teams don’t want their quarterback to be in that position, of being distracted,” Young said. “It was nothing about my game, it’s just those things have to be cleared up before I get that opportunity.”Young says those things are now cleared up. It remains to be seen whether he gets that opportunity.

This is just sad and pathetic.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Vince Young picked some familiar ground as he tries to resurrect his sinking NFL career.Out of football since being cut by the Buffalo Bills before last season, the former University of Texas star used the Longhorns' pro timing day workouts Tuesday to throw passes in front on scouts for 30 teams.Seven years earlier, Young used the same venue to make his case as the top quarterback in the draft. This time, he was just trying to show teams he's worthy of a roster spot.Young declined interviews with dozens of reporters, but Young's agent Jerry Marlatt told The Associated Press that Young chose the Texas workout because he's comfortable on campus and it got him in front of nearly every team at once.Young is enrolled in school and finish his degree in May, Marlatt said.Marlatt said Young doesn't have any individual team workouts scheduled yet, but called Tuesday ''the opening shot ... He's showing teams he's been working out, throwing and getting ready.''Young threw for about 30 minutes in a workout directed by Texas offensive coordinator Major Applewhite. Most of the scouts that came to inspect Texas players such as safety Kenny Vacarro and defensive end Alex Okafor, stayed to watch Young throw. Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, the only head coach to attend the Texas workout, declined comment.NFL consultant Gil Brandt, the former Cowboys player personnel director, said Young threw well, but teams won't be impressed by that.''That's not his problem. His problem is not physically doing something, it's getting the ability to study, to pay attention. If he does that, he's got a chance to come back with somebody and play,'' Brandt said.

If the Raiders are seriously considering rolling with Pryor then I don't see how Young could be worse.

This is just sad and pathetic.
Not sure why this is sad and pathetic. He wants another shot at the NFL and this was a way to get in front of teams again and let them know he is serious. Pat White did same thing at WV pro day.
:goodposting: I don't get it either. He went back to school, going to get his degree in May, and showing NFL teams he is still in shape. I have no idea if he is worth a shot at a comeback but at least the guy is showing he has the desire to play again.

Yeah...seems more sad and pathetic to rip a guy for going back to get his degree and having a chance to show scouts what he may have left. And seems the scouts did not think it was pathetic since they stays to watch him.

It's sad and pathetic for a couple reasons -

1. The guy is only doing it because he's an imbecile who blew all his money, borrowed more, then blew that too.

2. He's working out at a pro day for college players. No scout came to see him, and one has to wonder that if he held his own workout if it'd be a repeat of T.O.'s fiasco a couple years ago when he announced a workout and not a single scout showed. The scouts watching Young just hung around an extra hour for the hell of it.

3. As the writer said, showing that he's still in shape will do zilch for his prospects. The guy is a headcase who couldn't even earn a roster spot as a backup on the Bills last year. He was in shape then too.

Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the guy in that he was probably never taught how manage his finances and perhaps was drafted too high by the Titans and that put too much pressure on him at an early age.

It's still sad and pathetic though.

Yeah...scouts have just so much time on their hands leading into the draft that they hung out just for the hell of it.

Seems obvious what is really pathetic. ..and it isn't VY taking part in that pro day.

It'd be sad and pathetic if he hadn't humbled himself and thought he was too big to go to a workout designed for college prospects, back to the college town he held in the palm of his hand.

VY will get a camp invite to backup somewhere if his attitude has shaped up. Wouldn't be surprising if it were somewhere like Seattle,SF or Oakland backing up one of their mobile QB's (I expect Palmer gone from Oakland).
