Vincent Jackson wr#3 on the depth chart (1 Viewer)

Could he be a good play this week against Oak. Going back I watched that first preseason game and rivers seemed to want to go his way always. He is a big target with good hands and since he bruised his chest he has had some time to rest in the preseason and stay fresh. Any homers out there have any insight on this possible sleeper.????

I've been trying to pick this guy up all offseason. I was able to draft him with a late round pick and trade for him in another league.

:pickle:

Enormous potential

I would still look for him to split time with Parker, at least early, and it'll seem like they're sharing that spot.

he should easily beat out Parker and McOldell could get hurt any day. So yes, but it's hard to gauge when and how much

WTF? I just checked their site and didn't see anything on Jackson starting, and Parker is listed on the depth chart. I think this should be labeled rumor until we get a link confirming this

depth chart:

nothing on rotoworld about this either, cept that Parker might return punts

I grabbed Jackson in a dynasty league about a month ago. I expect him to be a monster next year. In a redraft it's a little risky. McCardell and Parker will be the starters early and Rivers is going to have his ups and downs. But if you have the roster space he may make a big difference by FF playoff time.

He's still a great dynasty prospect, but as long as he isn't starting you can likely wait on him in leagues with smaller benches. It's the difference between trading to make room and just dropping someone for him. I still say that the thread title should be changed or this should be deleted altogether. Very misleading (since it's completely untrue as far as I can tell)

:bag: I read that wrong. He is the number 3. my fault. Carry on. His dynasty prospects are good and with one of those 2wr's, you would have to like his chances of getting on the field

He showed a connection with Rivers in the preseason before injury. If he can get the opportunity I think he could produce. His opportunity is obviously limited in the passing game with Gates, Tomlinson, and McCardell taking the majority of looks. In a survivor or dynasty format he is someone you are going to want to hold on to.

1. Yes, Jackson will play a lot as the #3. I think the Chargers will use a lot of 3-WR sets, and may start out in that set.

2. Don't read too much into the targets he got in the first preseason game, however. Gates, McCardell, Parker, and Tomlinson didn't play (or in some cases played just a few snaps), so Jackson was next in line. He was the #1 option in that game, but goes back to being the #5 option when the starters are in.

3. I think it's rather doubtful that Jackson will beat out Parker or McCardell this year. People underrate Parker. He's ultra-clutch. Jackson will start when McCardell's skills decline or when Jackson establishes himself as as a top-flight NFL WR. I would say 2007 is a much better bet than 2006.

Just got this guy in a dynasty league after hearing he was River's 2nd most targeted receiver last week.. love his size and potential but as many receivers go, it may take him a year

Tied for fourth most, but who's counting? (Gates, Tomlinson, McCardell had more.)

sorry.. wasn't clear.. 2nd most targed wide-receiver.. I was very happy to get this information from FBG.com's subscriber email which is very helpful.

Bumping this, as I just picked up VJ on waivers for nothing.

With McCardell's age and the unimpressiveness of Parker, I took a chance to see if he gets more opportunity at WR. As noted, he'd still be behind LT and Gates in the pecking order, but maybe there's some value here.

Any update/thoughts on VJ going forward?

He should be a good one. They've got specific plays for him in the book when they get around the goalline - particuarly the fade to the corner which they executed a few times successfully in preseason. As mentioned he's the third option at best at that point, but he has been on the field every time they've been inside the 5 so far as I have seen. So he should be good for a couple more short range touchdowns this year. He hasn't played much between the 20's yet, and they've been using Malcom Floyd a bit more than I had expected so far (who's also looked better than I thought he would), so you should still temper your overall enthusiasm for this season. If McCardell or Parker get injured he'd see major playing time though - and those things are unfortunately more likely than they would be with other receivers given McCardell's age and Parker's injury history.

Thanks for the insight. I'm not expecting much from him this year, but mainly looking to possibly stash him away in my keeper league.

I see Parker is questionable this week with a hammy. Between McCardell and him Vince Jackson is due to get some starts sooner or later.

Floyd was practice squad last year and has been a sorta developmental project for them. He's tall and fast. Did you guys seem him do anything other than catch a deep ball? I didn't see that game he scored in I just assumed. Curious how he's coming along.

I wouldn't imagine he's a threat to Jackson.

A guy I like, Osgood, they only seem to like as a blocker and special teams guy. I'm pretty sure he's 4th in the pecking order. It'd be nice to see him catch a pass
