W. Parker.........welcome to the FF bench (1 Viewer)

Its a tough call this week. PIT has looked impressive running the ball each week, while the OL has struggled to give Ben time. The pass protection in the Cinci game was horrible.

I think PIT keeps it on the ground and tries to attack the corners (and away from Jamal) with Willie. I don't think SD will respect the PIT passing game and sell out to defend the rush. I don't expect much sucess and PIT will have to throw the ball early.

Ward and Miller, IMO, are the plays this week.

:levin:

I'm starting Chester and Maroney over FWP this week.

:D
I guess you and I watched a different Steelers-Bengals game because I thought the o-line did a fine job with pass protection. Ben was sacked three times but he was holding on to the ball way too long. As far as the running game goes, it was very good against Miami & Cincy but absolutely lousy against the Jaguars. Of course the whole offense looked horrible that game.
I watched the game Tuesday evening (gb sunday ticket and tivo), and my unbiased opinion is that the Cinci pass rush got the better of the PIT OL. Sure, the box score only read 3 sacks, but how many times was Ben hurried or flushed from the pocket?I guess we could argue this point all day, but to keep this topic on point, do you think the PIT OL has a better chance of stifling the SD pass rush or opening holes in the running game?

Wait a minute. Have you seen who SD has played?1. Oakland2. Tenn3. Bye4. BaltTwo out of three teams stink and Balt hasn't shown they can do anything against a decent club.I was going to bench Parker until I took a look at who SD has played. You might be right, but it's not based upon on-the-field proof this year that they can stop a superior rushing attack.
This is basically the same front 7 that was #1 against the run last season.

Okay, that is definitely not the impression I got. The one sack that really drove me nuts was the one that made a short field goal attempt a long one (which was missed) and that was all on Ben as he had plenty of time to throw the ball away or even run.In any case I don't think the o-line has to necessariliy completely stifle the SD pass rush if they go with quick passes to minimize the time the QB holds the ball. I also think they'll roll Ben out to give him some extra time as well. I see the TE being very big in this game.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Steelers come out passing in this game and possibly even come out in some kind of a hurry-up since that seemed to work for Baltimore. I think Parker will have a lot of short gains but the Steelers will be persistent, especially if they get an early lead and eventually he'll break one that makes his rushing totals look better that they really were.

Of course all of this could be said for San Diego's offense verses the Steelers defense but I think Marty will keep a tighter leash on Rivers than Cowher will keep on Ben.

Well, I started him as I have all year and so far through the 1st Quarter:

8 rushes 31 yards 1TD (9 yards)

1 reception 15 yards

11 points in 1 Quarter in my PPR league is pretty damn good. Based on my lead, this is already a good outing against SD to me.

With San Diego's Rushing Defense giving up a stingy 66 yards a game and allowing ZERO Tds so far this year, W. Parker belongs on many fantasy football benches this weekend. Granted it all depends what depth you have behind him, but I beleieve most people's #3 Rb will certainly outscore Parker this week. I am a Parker owner and I like him alot, but his running style has ZERO chance of success aginst SD. His rushing chart will look like this -1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, 6, -2, 4. The only way i see him scoring is if a Pass interference penalty puts the ball at 1st and Goal on the 1 yard line.

My prediction:

58 rushing yards, 0 TDs

1 catch, 7 yards, 0 TDs
Just wanted to let you know that the 3 last plays on the TD drive were Parker rushes for 4 to the 24, Parker rushes for 15 to the 9 and Parker rushes for 9 right into the end zone.

Benched him for Maroney today. Looks like I would of won if I started FWP. :bag:

You ain't that bright are ya now?

Willie won me my game this week. :towelwave:
Same with me! I ain't a Steeler fan but -- :towelwave: Two weeks ago, right after Shaun A went down, I traded for McAllister. Someone told me I should have gotten a #1 -- I said, why? I got Fast Willie. :football:

70-90 yards rushing, 5-60 yards receiving, 2 TDs will be respectable and acheivable for FWP.
:lmao: Good luck with that.
why do i not listen to nightshift :wall:
Too bad Ben hasn't showed up to play this season. FWP will get that amount most weeks, but if ever he has a QB with his head out of his #### & makin' smart decisions on the field (not to mention completing passes), look out!

Unless you have say a Deshaun Foster ( who has a great matchup vs Cleveland if you want to really look at that) or Maroney or Gore( who was drafted later in most drafts this year) as an RB3 I would never sit Parker because of a matchup. Now if you see an obvious matchup like Fosters that I can understand, but most NFL defenses are good and it is a matter of execution. Parker is one of the few backs getting a lot of touches each and every week. I would not sit him unless your deep at RB and have a compelling match-up like the Foster example.
I do have Foster and have penciled him in as my starter instead of FWP. My other starter being SJax.Your comment is making me feel like writing it in permanent ink. :P
I benched FWP for DFoster, in my performance ppr league and made the right choice to the tune of 5 points. That's not a lot better than FWP but it was better.

:goodposting: Maybe it's that his mellon isn't right since he decided to "test it" vs. the car windshield. Glad he's ok, but that pick where he just floated the ball out there - without any black jerseys around - was hooooorible.Cowher wouldn't do it to a SB winning qb, but I've got to believe Batch would be better moving the ball and reducing the bonehead picks. W/ that solid O line, all PIT needs is a workmanlike (Dilferesque?) type of QB performance.@ SD was yet another challenge, and they looked good early, but I agree that FWP could be MUCH more of a factor (both for PIT and subsequently FF owners) if Ben's play and decision making improved. I think PIT needs someone like PLAX in the mix, cuz all their WRs look like clones of each other. And they're all having problems getting open.

:goodposting: Parker getting 4 carries in the second half when Pittsburgh had a 6 point lead (and a 13 point lead just before halftime) is a testament to how badly Roethlisberger played in the second half. The defense also struggled, but the offense wasn't helping at all and it wasn't Parker's fault at all.

Remember when everyone was talking about how Najeh Davenport was going to be a threat to Parker? That was classic.
One thing I didn't like seeing was that on a 3rd and 1, Davenport actually got a carry and Parker didn't have many carries at that point. Needless to say Davenport lost a yard, so he was ineffective as usual, so Cowher should have left Parker in.
