Wade Phillips: "TO is looking like a GTD" (1 Viewer)

Sorry; no link... heard Mike and the MD announce it at the top of thier show. If TO doesn't play or plays at 60%; I don't like the Boyz chances.

Just what we want the people in NY thinking... :goodposting:
You think the Giants are gonna go out there on Sunday and be completely surprised when they see TO playing and go "Oh #### we didn't game plan for him!". The whole smoke and mirrors crap doesn't work when you already played against him twice already this year.

:goodposting: He'll play and I'll bet the first play is a pass in his direction, but don't think The Giants won't be tackling him by the ankles early and often.

He beat the rookie on several plays, no doubt, but for the most part the rook did way better than I expected on TO

Cowboys could be in trouble this weekend....
So could the Giants, Packers, Seahawks, Chargers, Colts, Jaguars and Patsies.
Cowboys moreso. Would be the big fav with TO, without it's a coin toss.
People in the know (T.O.'s teammates, local sports writers) have already concluded that TO will play.
But he clearly won't be 100%. No one will know until the game starts how mobile he'll be.

He came back early from a broken leg to play in the Superbowl. What's more he played great. Should be more of the same.

He'll play and hopefully he's sore as **** if we have to go down there and play again the next week.

He will be on that field.... just how healthy is he. High Ankle Sprains are tricky... and could take up too 6 weeks to heal. Its been about a month since he hurt; I would be a little nervous as a Boyz fan.

Im nervous about the game even WITH a healthy TO? I would think the Giants want to see TO on the field this week.

TO killed them this year. There's no way they want him to play regardless of what shape he's in.

Im assuming the Giants players and their fans want to see the Giants win the game with dallas at full strength with no built in excuses. I could be wrong tho.

The Giants aren't going to be at full strength so I don't know why they would want Dallas to be full strength. I think Giants fans would want to win anyway they can and Dallas can complain all they want. Winning is all that matters.

Dallas wants to win the superbowl, so going without Owens (or a less than effective Owens) against the Giants is better than against the Packers or Patriots. I wouldn't be surprised if he sits this one out so at least he'll be closer to full speed for closer (and bigger) games.

If TO sits this one out his ankle will be fine for september because that will be the next game the Cowboys play.

:ptts: I can't believe anyone would think at this point that Dallas would sit TO if he could go just to "save him for later." Are you freaking kidding me???

I just heard on mike and the maddog that in a team practice this afternoon without pads TO did run his routes. So it looks like he should be a go for sunday.

T.O. officially back at Cowboys practice

Terrell Owens - WR - DAL - Jan. 10 - 3:51 p.m. ET

Terrell Owens (high ankle sprain) ran routes and caught passes in his return to Cowboys practice Thursday.

Despite media reports and Cowboys coach Wade Phillips saying Owens wasn't practicing the past two days, all the players said he was. T.O. showed no limp on Thursday, but the team may have told him not to speak with reporters. "You're not going to get anything out of me," he said when approached.

There was never a question whether TO would play or not in my mind. No way he sits out. This way, he can get all kinds of love and attention from the media, just what he likes.

He was practicing today with the team and running routes. He will be about 75% this weekend in my opinion, which is 50% better than the Giants secondary at full speed.

Owens will play, but he is no spring chicken anymore. At 34 the injuries may take a little longer to heal.

he is a freak of nature and is playing like he is still in his prime. I think he has at least two superstar years left.He heals as fast as anyone, it wouuld seem.

The news looks good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The Cowboy offense is fundamentally different without him.

Despite all the bad press that Owens gets (a lot of his own doing) he's a gamer like no other in the NFL.

True, but it's awfully quick to come back 3 weeks after the injury. He's likely to play, but I don't believe he'll draw the double teams which will handicap the Cowboys offense.

He had the same kind of miraculous recovery in the super bowl and he was unreal in the game for the Eagles. I don't doubt Owens anymore, the guy's a freak.

He's not a freak. When you have the best medical care available and the best trainers and equipment money can buy (hyperbaric chambers), most of us could heal a lot quicker from that type of injury..

Much different injury and he had more time to recover then. High ankle sprains are typically 6-8 weeks to get to 100%. If TO is this mythical creature that everyone is making him out to be and it's say a 4-6 week recovery time then I still don't see him being at 100% for this game. I'm interested to see if I'm wrong.

yeah........ don't forget the fact that hes one of the most in shape players in the game. That is a huge part to his speedy recovers.

I wish you were the DEF Coach for the Giants.
Why? He's likely right. Yes, TO recovered from a break quickly several years ago. But heisn't super-human. You need to take those silver and blue glasses off on occasion.

Whether or not Owens plays is not the issue, as I have no doubt that he will play. It is a matter of how healthy will he be, and I just don't see him being close to healthy enough to being the dangerous threat that he normally is. Saying, "he came back early to play in the Super Bowl three years ago," means nothing. This is a different injury, and Owens is three years older now. Regardless of how tough or resilient you are, it gets tougher to come back quickly from injuries, the older you get.

so why does he heal faster than the conventional wisdom when it comes to most of his injuries? Why does AJ need 1/2 season, etc. and TO a couple weeks?

Albert Breer E-mail News tips

Let's just put it this way: Neither Terrell Owens nor the Cowboys exhibited much caution at all during the portion of practice open to the media.

The workout was outdoors, and held in sweats. As Barry posted a minute ago, Owens came out late for practice, just as we were coming on to the fields, with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown at his side. After getting some early work in during passing lines, Owens retreated to the sideline, took off his shoe, and had the tape job around his left ankle sliced off.

Owens then jogged around the stretching lines high-fiving all his teammates. And in early group work, the Cowboys were tossing fade routes up to Owens, requiring the receiver to go up for the ball. He worked with the first group most of the time, and kept close to Brown when on the sideline. Also, the limp he showed on Thursday was, for the most part, gone today.

Bottom line: It's pretty much like nothing's wrong with Owens.

It certainly wasn't because of him. 9-122 is a very good game.
