Waiver Wire Claims - Anyone Worth It This Week? (1 Viewer)

Kenneth Darby - but SJax seems okay.

Chris Ivory - but didn't look very good and PT should be okay.

Blair White - can he steal the job away from Garcon/Gonzalez?

Tony Moeaki - is there enough to go around in KC?

DHB - maybe not worth your spot in the claim order but definitely coming on.

Slim pickings, maybe these guys are only worth FA moves but not the claim order. Anyone I'm missing?

No one worth your waiver spot IMO. Meoaki is a decent TE in deeper leagues, but there are others available in 10 man leagues. Overall, I'd sit tight unless you are extremely thin somewhere on your roster.

Agreed. This is a pretty good week to let other guys fill glaring holes with mediocre players and move up a couple of spots on your waiver priority.

Or claim guys who have been dropped due to panic. I'll get up thurs morning and look to see who got dropped. I dont stay up till 430 am anymore to check it so I'm getting better. My Dr. says I'm making great strides.

Unfortunately dropping due to panic never really happens in my league. People hold on to players until the wheels officially fall off, like the team gets eliminated from the playoffs lol. Matt Moore is still rostered in my league...

What about Green-Ellis?

He's available in every one of my leagues and if Taylor misses time he could be a decent bye week filler. I would take him over Blount right now.

These guys are available in over 50% yahoo! leagues and I think are worth a grab:

Lynch (25% owned): Leading the team in carries, can turn into a bye week sub, and still a chance he may be traded to a RB desperate team.

BJGE (11% owned): Taylor has a toe injury, Faulk is out, Morris is a year older, BJGE, like Hillis, always gets positive yardage, and coaches like that.

Maroney (36% owned): Hamstring injuries are tricky, and Moreno has had two in the last month. Maroney is younger than Buckhalter and don't forget he was a 1st round (bust) fantasy pick two years ago.

*** I like to stock RBs and I'll definitely take a shot at one of the above in my leagues.

LeGarrette Blount (1% owned): You might be able to wait on FA for this guy since he's on a bye this week and there's a chance he'll slip through waivers. But I think he is a definite sleeper in a weak TB RB corps that supported a 1000-yard rusher last year.

Lance Moore (13% owned): You have to take a shot on this guy while Bush is out, especially if Mike Williams (either one) is your WR2.

Torain? I don't like Shanahan RBs, but ... some people do.

Not sure how many waiver wires have Keller on them still, but I think he has turned into an every week play if he is there. He tends to be Sanchez's first or second read on every pass play the past 2 weeks.

i think the only guy worth going after is lloyd... and strangely enough hes only been mentioned once in this thread. this is like a twilight zone episode

This brings up an interesting point. League size. In most 12 team leagues when the draft is over the die has been cast and very few value moves can be made. There are verrrry few game changing waiver moves that can be made. Heck, there's nobody on the WW. Owners would rather go down with the ship than make a trade and if they do they invite ridicule and charges of making an unfair trade that upset the balance of the league.I prefer a 10 team league for several reasons. First and foremost is that there are game changers on the WW. I've seen year in and year out that informed owners get the best of this bunch. Why would you want part time players to basically draft a crap shoot involving all rosterable players and see who got luckiest? Wouldn't you want to be rewarded for paying attention during the season? 12 team purists really miss this point and they shouldn't if they are considering their involvement vs half of their opponents. Yet every year on this very board good FF players look down on leagues that have less than 12 teams playing. They give up the very advantage they have worked so hard for the rest of the year.My focus has been on a ten team league with larger starting rosters. I've not been entirely successful getting my leaguemates to expand our starters but I'm convinced that this system rewards the very best FF players.Because it's a war of high points rather than attrition (like 12 team leagues) there is a certain level of panic that can be exploited. And this is the best week to make a move. 0-3 teams are frantic to get points into their lineups asap and will trade the future to do so. I'd love to address this further but I've gotta go look at rosters and send out some offers.

I'm sorry bout the Moeaki train left the station two weeks ago. There is a seat in steerage, though...Keeper/dynasty no doubteven redraft this guy likely a top 10 TE this year, especially since KC doesn't throw to its downfield wr's.

I think you're over analyzing this, as long as the bench/starter ratio is pretty small there will always be difference makers on the waiver wires they just wont be as sexy. Sure, it'll be a lot harder to overcome an injury to a couple key players. But by the same token, the barrier to entry to overtake you're marginal starters is a lot lower. Finding the right match ups to fill those slots can gain you a lot more points compared to the average owner. Leagues with very deep benches do this specifically with the intention of making pre-planning more important so its a moot point.

Maybe because he's almost 30, he's been in the league 8 years, and has consistently shown that he's utterly inconsistent.

All these cats are owned in all my leagues. (Freaking sharks.)

No. he doesnt play the Bills again till the end of the year, he only has career days against the Bills, check his stats.

I was able to snag Louis Murphy off the WW this week.

Now I have to decide if I want to plug in Murphy who has been pretty solid with Gradkowski in at QB, or if I want to keep giving Colston chances to redeem himself.

If by some oversight McGahee is out there. Noticed him available in my one league. Putting in a try at him. If not, Mario Manningham was still on the line in one of my leagues. Not typical though.

I'm suprised Dustin Keller hasn't been mentioned more. This guy has been in full-out beast mode the last two weeks.

 Maybe people havent watched Chief games or have been sleeping the last 3 weeks but Moeaki is their #1 option in the passing game right now and I believe leads the team in targets. I could be wrong about the targets but anyway if they continue to use him like this he is a lock top 10 TE.

Agree. I'm in a 10 team league with only a few spare roster spots for bench players. It means to pickup up a hot WW player I've got to ditch what most would consider a RB2/3 or WR2/3 guy. Do I want to drop guys like Beanie/Spiller or MSW/Santana Moss for a guy who's had a couple of good games? And because everyone has studs you've got to put up decent numbers to win each week. Having a couple of your guys putting up just 50yds each is a recipe to lose your matchup. That said, I dropped Olsen and picked up Keller last week and it paid off handsomely.

I'm gonna use my #3 waiver claim on Hillis, dropping Tolbert.
Not sure that's a good idea. Sure Tobert looked a little nervous/tight as a RB1 @ SEA but that's a tough place to play and I think he can be better if given more chances. And he very well may get more chances since Mathews isn't even a lock to play week 4 and hasn't really proven anything yet. Idk but I think Tolbert on that offense is worth rostering all season.

Maybe because he is on precious few waiver wires, and the discussion is about WW players?

I don't see why. Hillis seems to be the #1 RB in CLE. Tolbert is a #2 who will get little time unless Matthews is injured. I would think grabbing Hillis would be the better play since it's more likely he will help your team over the course of the season.

Definitely agree that Hillis is a great pickup (already gone in most leagues). I was just saying I wouldn't drop Tolbert.

Looking at Murphy too, with the Raiders having Houston this week.

Speculatory, but I am willing to throw a little love out to free agent Kicker Kris Brown. If he can take the New Orleans starting job, he's a week in week out starter off the wire. And it wont cost a ton to get him now before it's announced. If he doesn't pan out, no big investment either.

I've already picked him up and dropped him again. He's a shiny lure with a sucker's hook.
Let's not live in the past. Orton no longer plays for Chicago. Lloyd's worst game is 53 yds and twice in three games he's gone over 100 yds. His chemistry w/ Orton is great, he's displaying good hands and YAC, and averaging over 7 targets a game. Denver is throwing the ball a ton and their only real RB is hurt. What's not to like here? Not often you can get this kind of production on the WW in Week 4.

He doesn't actually have good hands, he's a "make circus catch then bounce key 1st down reception off his numbers" type. His route running ranges from decent to bad which might vary in relation to his attitude/work ethic that week. Denver has at least 3 other very viable wide outs. He should be owned I'd think and you might get some decent production out of him, but it all adds up to a guy who's pretty likely to disappear and stay disappeared for a while, only to reemerage after he posts a goose egg in your line up, rots for a couple weeks and you finally cut him.

Dustin Keller is owned in 49.6% of ESPN leagues and 69% of yahoo leagues so......................
My point. He is still available in a lot of leagues and shouldn't be.I would take him over TEs like Witten, Celek, and Daniels.

Oh yeah and when your TE makes a catch that ends up #1 on 'top plays' on a sunday, odds are he's pretty freaking amazing.

What about Kuhn? He had 1 less rushing attempt than Jackson but definitely outperformed him. They have a pretty good match-up this week vs Detroit.

This is likely my fallback option if I don't land BJGE. I need to start one of them this week due to byes and injuries. I don't think it will take a waiver claim to get Kuhn though.

In that same realm, Nance may be an interesting pickup if he's still out there.Kuhn runs hard, but is one-dimensional, while Jackson hasn't gotten anything done in two weeks. Wouldn't surprise me to see if the team gives Nance a chance to dress and get some carries in the near future - couldn't hurt at this point.

I put in a claim for Lance Moore, who I don't expect to get. Otherwise, I'll just sit tight and hope to grab a dropped player and some free agent guys in a day or two.

I need a WR this week and I'm leaning towards Lloyd. But, I don't think I'll use a waiver claim, I'll hope to get him as free agent. If not him, guys like DHB, Mike Williams (SEA), etc. are available. I'll probably analyze the passing match-ups to make my decision, as hopefully this is only a one week filler, unless the guy turns in a productive, consistent season.

Guys like Moore and Murphy are already rostered.

I only have one WR (Floyd) this week due to byes and the fact that Aromashadu isn't even active these days.
