Waiver wire Defenses - KC & New Orleans (1 Viewer)

Smells like chicken
These two teams are flying off the waiver wire in leagues I'm in.

With people wanting cake matchups against two guys making their first NFl starts.

The Saints are 4th & 5th in points in the two leagues I'm in, the Chiefs are 12th - and that's with their bye. Sounds like they should be picked up in 12 team leagues, regardless of the upcoming matchups.

Wrong about KC. Check their weekly totals, almost all of their points came last week against SF. In my league the totals were:week 1 Cinn - 2week 2 Den - 3week 3 - byeweek 4 SF - 32

Not necessarily. The Chief's D has been impressive in the last 2 games they have played. Even in the Cinncinnati game the defense played much better than the scoreboard indicated. The offense gave Cinninnati great field position in that game and the Chiefs D held up pretty good. In the Broncos game the score speaks for itself by only allowing 9 points. Your league scoring is obviously turnover and sack heavy but not all leagues are. Some are yardage and scoring driven.

I am guilty of picking up New Orleans this week.

Rather than draft a decent defense early, I usually spend the first half of the season playing matchups I like. Its worked pretty well, but I got burned by Seatle last week. As a result, I've stopped considering the Bears as a favorable offense for a D to face... maybe I reacted a little slow there.

I realize that nabbing a D facing a QB in his first start is a fantastic odds move. But I wonder what the stats truly are in terms of how well first-start QBs do in their first game.WAY to lazy and inept to dig into the numbers, but I'm just wondering out loud -- do first-start QBs in their first game stink up the joint 90% of the time? 60%? I seem to remember a few coming off the bench now and again and actually being solid if not spectacular in their first go in the NFL.Would be an interesting to look into when I have more time or inclination.

you are correct, sir! gunther has the chiefs d playing up to speed and they have some very favorable matchups down the stretch. i'd be picking them up if they were available in my league.

It's killing me that both of these are on the WW in my main league and I'm can't make a move for them. I have the Jags as my D and am not willing to dump them. Don't have another free roster spot to use. :wall:

Don't go to sleep on the Denver D ... most people are due to their unspectacular start but they've faced some pretty good Offensive teams to date

Offensive Ranking

@ St. Louis 11th L - 18-10

Kansas CIty 20th W - 9-6

@ New England 4th W - 17-7

Baltimore 28th

Oakland 32nd

@ Cleveland 30th

As you can see they're at home the next 2 weeks and that thin air is a huge advantage for the Bronco's

Facing some of the worst offensive teams the NFL has to offer up spells SUPER Sleeper D for the Broncos!

I picked up the NO D for a one week play this week (I have ATL D on a bye). I think the Superdome is going to be a difficult place to play for visiting teams for the remainder of the season (it's sold out and the energy should remain electric). Mix in a rookie QB playing behind a weak line and odds look favorable for a decent day of production for the NO D. As always, we'll see....

:goodposting: I did the same - hope it works 'cause I sat the Jags.
