Waiver Wire & FAAB Discussion - Week #8 (7 Viewers)

Week 8 Waivers

Not much out there this week. But there are 6 teams on bye this week, so a lot of names you may not consider will be starting even as backups.

Running Backs

Bye week desperation
RB Kyle Monangai
RB Tyrone Tracy
RB Brashard Smith
RB Isaiah Davis
RB Justice Hill
RB Jeremy Mcnichols

Check if still out there
RB Tyjae Spears (42% on sleeper)

Worth grabbing if dropped
RB Zonovan (Bam) Knight (bye wk8)
RB Bayshul Tuten (bye wk8)

Very speculative
RB Devin Neal (Saints)

Wide Receivers

Might be worth it
WR Tez Johnson

Hold your nose bye weeks
WR Xavier Legette
WR Elic Ayomanor
WR Chimere Dike
WR Van Jefferson
WR Marvin Mims
WR Alec Pierce
WR Troy Franklin
WR Tyler Johnson
WR Jaylin Lane
WR Chris Moore
WR Luke McCaffrey

Tight Ends

Finally something worthwhile
TE Orande Gadsen

Maybe still ok
TE Juwann Johnson
TE Theo Johnson

Good luck chasing
TE Daniel Bellinger
TE Pat Freiermuth
TE Colby Parkinson
TE Austin Hooper

Speculative
TE Gunnar Helm

DST

Indy vs Tenn
ATL vs Miami

I am I guess semi-set at TE with Kraft in a few leagues but I kind of want to get in big on Gadsen, I feel like this could be a thing and Kraft's usage is so erratic. Love the talent and the player though if they'd consistently utilize him

Gadsen isn't a guy I want to watch go by and beat me

J Noel is someone I'm bidding on.
With Nico maybe out next week and Kirk most likely out with hammy.

Noel seems to be having mini breakout.
If he continues and builds a rapport with Stroud and flourishes, doubt they just hand Kirk his job back. Kirk has earned nothing. Noel could be the #2 option on this team .

The guy balled out in college. Starting to show it now. Some guys take time and his time is now .

Christmas could be coming early with Noel.

Seriously though, he did look good and he’s probably as good of a flier as anyone in bye week hell and if Collins and Kirk are both out. My concern though is that Stroud would just pepper Schultz underneath and the WR targets would be spread among Noel, Hutchinson and Higgins.

Worth a shot I guess at the end of the day.

Gadsden and Tez seem like top choices this week
Halfway through last night's game I was wondering if Tez was going to get cut. He was running the wrong routes, running into his own players, etc. But they kept going to him (probably out of necessity, but still) and that run on the TD catch looked pretty good.

In a league where was have to start 2WRs and 1 WR/TE flex, I'm staring down the barrel of a lineup with Golden, Franklin and Ayomanor. Putting in a claim for Gadsden that I probably won't get, but thinking about Tez as a backup option.

BTW interesting to see Ayomanor listed as a potential add. I'm completely desperate and I'm still thinking about dropping him. Maybe it's him, maybe it's Cam, maybe it's that offense, but given that there doesn't seem to be much of a chance of any of those things getting better, at this point he's pretty much out of excuses

Is Sterling Shepard worth hanging on to?
Of the TB options, I'd probably prefer Tez, just because we know who Shepard is at this point. But if you have him and Tez isn't available, it's certainly not a bad idea to hold on to him and see how things shake out.

Speaking of TB, has anyone heard much about Godwin's situation? I have this sneaking suspicion that it's worse than what we've been lead to believe. I dropped him in a 12-team PPR to pick up the Atlanta D, which I may live to regret if he comes back and is TB's only healthy receiver. But I kinda think he won't be

Great, thorough post. Appreciate the work.

What are folks bidding on Gadsden? I’m sitting on $70 of 100 and would like to get him. A few others still have their full $100.
I'm wondering this too + who to drop. I am trying to gauge if Gadsen > Hunter Henry and/or Fannin.
My exact question re: Gadsen vs Fannin. I'm going to try and keep them both rostered, but I've made a lot of TE moves this season... We've seen Mason Taylor have a similar trajectory, then crash. I think if I end up with them both, I'll roll out Fannin for another game to see if Gadsen can get past the two game marker for startable efforts. But he looks good; I'd probably roll with him over Henry if I had those two.

Taylor has the skill set but the QB and off need as a whole is a disaster. Not much hope something develops before season end.

Gadsen at least has a good QB and a good offense. Yes there's more mouths to feed. But more stability in LA.

Gadsden is a converted WR. So think he has the skill set as well

Yes. Didn't mean to imply he didn't have skills. He just also has a better situation.

Its tough to find one WR out there this week to add.
Obviously depends on the size of the league. Tez is probably the best option available in my league - at least he has a gunslinger that is throwing the rock all over the place, as opposed to hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with the likes of Noel, Dike, etc.

Another owner overreaction dropped G. Wilson and B. Irving. 10 team .5 PPR.
My RBs: Kyren, Hall, Judkins, Etienne, Dobbins
My Wrs: Nico, AJB, Sutton, Diggs

I have $57/$100 left. I should go after Wilson correct? How much should I bid? We typically don't see these kind of drops in our competitive league.

I would go Bucky. I know he is hurt but should be back. He is better than all of the RBs you have.

Sneaky pickup possibly: Estime just signed with the Saints after being cut from the PS.

With Kendre out, he presumably slots in as the RB2 in NOS.

Only available in 1 of my 5 dynasty leagues. Redraft pure speculative add - I’d probably avoid.

Likely very cheap add if he’s a FA.
I read that Esitime was signed to the PS - Velus Jones was signed to the active roster, but I assume to play special teams.

Agree that Estime may ultimately be the RB2 over Neal, but he'd have to be called up first.

Not that anybody cares about my team. But I wanted to follow up with the waiver results from last night in this G. Wilson + B. Irving saga.
I wanted to preserve some FAAB so I went with G. Wilson and won him for $24.
I backed off Bucky because I already have two RB2 bench players.
However, due to bye-mageddon and other teams facing injuries, Bucky was never picked up!
So I grabbed him right away for free.

Okay enough about me. Dropping the mic. Thank you everyone for the coach assist for this week's waiver drama.

That's an interesting league for those players to be out there.

The team who dropped Wilson + Bucky has been decimated by injuries.
He also had Nabers, Hill, Puka, Njoku, Jakobi. He had to roster turn so much that due to bye weeks couldn't keep Wilson + Bucky.
We only get 6 bench spots. That's typical in most leagues.
Just insane how unlucky he has been. It's rare to have all the major injuries from the year consolidate under one team.

Fair point - 6 bench spots is a different matter. My leagues tend to be deeper, so I didn't consider that.

I'm thinking the same thing. Tez seems like less of a gamble than the other guys...but man, Noel has a path to value that I can't deny. At the end of the day I had Baker so matching him up with Tez for a week was a no brainer.

I've been there before, but usually I try and find a good trade partner to get something of higher value than a WW player. Even selling low on an injured player like Bucky, you could probably find someone willing to trade and get back some decent return.

Definitely in my thought process, but still a crowded WR corps there and it could be him, Higgins and Hutchinson on any given week, and that's not even factoring in the return of Kirk and, obviously, Nico as the target hog.
Ultimately I see him taking over that slot role and being a Josh Downs type. But there's a lot of unsaid 'ifs' in that. He's definitely a gamble. I'd love to stash him and see if he hits, but I've got a short bench and need players to hit now during byemageddon.

All just eyeball stuff, but he and CJ looked connected.

Or take a ZERO...those are rough drops.

Yep. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to capitalize on those drops in the coming weeks.
