waiver wire gems or fools gold (1 Viewer)

So like everyone else I'm looking at McCluster, Decker and Nelson. Waiver priority in my league is like gold. I like these guys but just not sure they are worth a coveted waiver. Long term I think Nelson is the play as Loyd will be back to take some touches and Orton will eventually give way to Tebow again. Who else is out there flying under the radar that may be a sneaky pick up that may make it off waivers? Pretty sure McCluster, Decker and Nelson will be snatched off waivers.

I am focusing on Nelson and/or mc cluster. Nelson is not benefiting from a temporary absence of an injured player so I like his upside better. McCluster is high risk since KC is so awful but I think he has a high ceiling.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them,

but I think McCluster benefits the most.

I do think Clust will receive the most touches going forward,

and very often more touches equates to more FF points.

Decker will have more time to prove himself into the starting lineup with Royal out 2-4 weeks. The guy has speed and natural athletic ability to go with his skills.

Nelson is just a tall guy running curl routes. Decker has the size/speed combo I'm looking for. Yes, Lloyd will get his but there's enough to go around there. Orton probably throws for 3700 yards this year and I don't see Tebow getting in there anytime this century.

Agree, def McCluster if he's still avail as KC likes to run the one, two punch.

I think you need to go read Saber's "targeting" thread regarding Nelson. Your analysis proves you didn't analyze anything.

I am torn between McCluster, who in my yahoo league is listed as RB/WR, and picking up E. decker. Id be dropping mo mass for either of these and I desperately need a WR3. Ive been flip-flopping back and forth b/w McCluster and Decker as top waiver priority. It's killing me.

If I knew that KC would actually utilize McCluster more now that Charles is done it would be a no brainer. But I have a sneaking suspicion that McCluster wil continue to be used as he has been thus far and Jones and Mclain will split the touches that would otherwise have gone to charles. McCluster is a high risk for sure.

Why no mention about Denarios Moore, I think he's at the top of the list.
For the same reason there's no mention of Jordy Nelson.
Too many mouths to feed? Al Davis effect?
No, because in most league Moore is already rostered - and has been since before week 1.
same for nelson... Actually Jordy is a competitive teams wr3 in one of my big $$ leagues.. Doubt you will be able to pick up Jordy.

curious why anyone thinks mccluster will get the most touches between him and tjones.
He doesn't have to get the most touches to be more valuable than Jones. See: Charles, Jamaal. But either way it's hard to get too excited about a hybrid guy in a timeshare on a team that's averaging 5 points a game and captained by a raving madman.

Which was Broadway's point...

Curious why anyone thinks TJones will do anything with the touches he gets. McCluster has 21 touches in 2 games. If they get roughly the same touches, I would much rather have 15 touches from him than TJones. If you add PPR, it makes it a landslide.

In most leagues blah blah blah. In most "standard" online leagues sure none of these guys might be there. Feel free to contribute or move along. Heck, talk trade value. In one of my leagues ALL of these guys are there ... it's a 10 teamer with shallow benches. In most of my OTHER leagues at best maybe one of them slipped through.

Jordy Nelson probably tops all lists although it's unlikely he made it past last week's ww.

Surprisingly, Branch is still out there in this league ... what to do? Tempted to put him #1 given the offense and opportunity. Burleson is out there too. I have him EVERYWHERE else so I've held off.

In that league I just lost JC but McCluster's eligibility is WR only on CBS so that's one strike against. One plus though is that he may be a quality RB with a 40-80 yard floor with upside for more filling a WR slot. He may not go nuts but there's something to be said of a safe floor guy.

DMoore faces a tough defense next week ... will he be on Revis Island? Wouldn't shock me if he gets picked up this week and cut next week in some leagues if that plays out. Still tough to pass on him for his potential but Ford should be back soon and it's still Jason Campbell.

DNelson is very tempting and should have value all year. Can he be the #1 if Stevie is out or limited though? Strikes me as a MThomas upside clone. If you need help THIS week I'd plug in Nelson over Moore ... if you are speculating ... Moore or McCluster.

Decker has great upside ... but can Denver really support two high end WR's? Lloyd is probably back so I'd rank him last of this group in a redraft.

Going back to my situation now ... I lost JC and have Starks/Mendy to start so I may just roll with an upside WR to protect Nicks/Lloyd (yes I got hit that hard already) ... but I do have Meachem, LMoore, and MThomas although none are exciting so heck I may make all 3 expendable and load up with this crew if they somehow don't get claimed.

That brings me to the available RB's in this format ... McGahee, Jacobs, MBush lead an unexciting RB crew although guys like Helu, Hunter, Redman, etc could be interesting.

I am tempted to shop Nicks for a RB and load up on these WR's although McGahee may be the play in my situation. I'm stuck and have to decide soon.

If the ww was tonight I'd probably load up on these WR's then take upside RB's like Helu over the meh RB's available over McGahee ... probably putting Branch, McCluster, Moore, McGahee, Burleson, DNelson, Decker in that order and then stock up on RB fliers for my Saints WR's.

Nelson's success with Fitzpatrick goes back to last season (3TDs in last 3 games together in 2010), while Decker has just emerged. Also, the Denver offense stagnated late in the 2010 season under Orton (14pts vs Oak, 16 vs SF, 14 vs SF, 6 vs KC and 13 vs Ariz), while Tebow led them to 23, 24 and 28 pts versus Oak, Hou and SD because of his running ability. Tebow may see action sooner than you think if Denver starts losing, and that would hurt Decker.

trusting Muir and Haley to run that offense is simply foolish thus making McCluster nothing more than just simple Fools Gold..

this offense is stuck in reverse, the defense is horrible, which means the Chiefs will finish as the worst team in terms of Time of Posession this season..if they don't have the ball and make first downs, McCluster and Co won't do a thing offensively.

I mean McCluster has some value but I'd rather look elsewhere for a productive RB

cunfusing "should" get with "will" get. Hadley is unpredictable or predictable in that he will do opposite of what you think would be best for the team

Confirmed, Charles owners. So with anyone that actually lives in Missouri and has to listen to chiefs fans daily, can safely say everyone has a boner for this kid, but he has shown absolutely nothing special.Hes a scrawny utility player - not anywhere near the same level as Sproles/Bush/Woodhead/Cribbs/Hester/DJax or LMFAO Charles, the comparisons you hear about Dexter are hilarious.Expect the chiefs to run the ball less this year than ever before (the majority of which will be with TJones), while simultaneously not bumping the value of cassel or any of his receivers.
