Waiver Wire Gems - week 13 (1 Viewer)

I'm good. Train keep a rolling.

Dropped Bills this week for Indy. Worked out but dropping the Colts. Hoping to get Bills back after waivers for week 16 v. Raiders.

RB-

Blount

L.Murray

WR - seems like there isnt much
Blount? Until next week when its Vereen or Grays turn. Cleveland and New England RBs, I'll let someone else take the bait. I think its pretty obvious Gray was being punished.
I'm a Gray owner myself but I don't see why not on Blount. Blount knows the system and obviously whatever character issues he had in Pittsburgh are not a problem in NE. Just don't use a high priority on him or expect too much out of him.

Other picks:

St Louis Rams DST with very good match-ups going into FFL playoffs

Landry is still out in my WW and I'm kicking myself for not grabbing him.

Ryan Fitzharvard may be back at QB if desperate.

Probably Mettenberger for me. I am seriously considering dropping Cutler & rolling the dice with the rookie.

Charles Johnson maybe??

In my 16-team standard league, I'm dropping Davante Adams and debating whether to pick up Charles Johnson or a second D. Big question is whether CJ will be startable for me in the next few weeks over Hawkins/Fitzgerald.

Lets be honest, there are no gems left on the wire.
That's possible, so it's not a bad time to stack defenses.

Ravens get Jax in Bal week 15, if they're out there get`em, that matchup is valuable.

TE T.Wright (NE)
I mentioned it in another thread a couple weeks ago but I think we will see more and more of Timmy as the Pats want to get back to the 2 TE offense they had when the jailbird was still playing with Gronk.
The Pats want to do that, or we want them to do that? I know I do, not sure they do. Any sign from BB or just our collective wishful thinking?
It's all about gameplan with the Patriots. Unless you're Brady or Gronk, your weekly numbers will be sketchy.

Wright is getting more snaps lately.

Tim Wright TE played 59 snaps, or 76% of their plays.

Thats a whole lot more than he used to.

Fixed for you.

He got 11% of the snaps on week 11, and 14% on week 9.

Possibly just a game-plan thing this week. There's no "trend" here, that I can see.

Can't believe there is only one mention of Herron so far. Looks like he's sliding right into the Bradshaw role for a team with an outstanding offense. He has the potential to be a difference maker in fantasy playoff games this year. He and Murray are the two gems in my mind.

I think NE used the two TE offense because they had the personnel in Gronk/Hernandez to make it work. Prior to those two guys, the NE TE was not a good fantasy option. In other words, its about using the players effectively not the system itself. I see Wright having his moments but nothing consistent. Personally, glad I avoided Gray last week.

This. Reminds me of when Jimmy Graham was hurt once and someone posted here that whichever backup TE the Saints started in his place could have value in the "Jimmy Graham role". Um, the reason the Jimmy Graham role has value is because of Jimmy Graham.

L. Murray
A little hesitant due to his brutal upcoming schedule. The only team not ranked(CBS for what its worth) in the top 7 against the run is KC again.

Next time around KC will be ready. And, who are you sitting week 15 when it's championship time to start him? Not sure he's going to pan out like everyone thinks.

did you see his 90 yard TD run? if he keeps looking like that you can find someone to bench. he just scored 25 points against KC with 4 carries, I'm not too worried about him having to face them again. absolutely the #1 pickup of the week

My TE's are averaging less than 5 points this season, big thanks for going negative to Jacob Tamme... I'd rather pick up Tim Wright and boom or bust than play TE roulette and guess incorrectly.

That's actually a great point. Picking replacement-level TEs is both stressful and impossible to get consistently right. Better to just plug Wright in and get the same boom-or-bust production without the weekly second guessing.

Carlos Hyde in redrafts if he is out there. Just scooped him in all four of my redrafts. I was a little worried on the last snap Gore played he kind of limped off. Didnt think nothing of it until this news.

Frank Gore is on the Week 13 injury report with a knee issue.
The 49ers listed Gore as limited for Monday's walkthrough. He's also been dealing with a hip injury, but his Week 13 status isn't a concern. Gore will be a low-end RB2/FLEX against Seattle on Thursday night.

While I'm not worried about Gores status at this time, maybe this gives Hyde more carries. I have Gore and will consider starting both Hyde and Gore against Oakland week 14.

There's just not much available anymore and certainly nothing that's going to decide a season IMO. waivers close in many leagues after this week so it's important to plan ahead (note: redraft only):

1) get a good D/ST schedule. If you have room for 3 MIA/HOU/TEN faces JAX and NYJ exclusively. If you can only grab 2 try HOU/TEN as they have JAX/NYJ and HOU has TEN this week which is serviceable.

2) backup the players you normally don't (TE/QB) except Kicker. Find the guy on waivers with the best schedule. If you play week 17 and have someone likely locked into a number 1/2 seed you might want to get a guy who will have something to play for if available (Anyone in AFC North). For TE just grab best player available with a bias towards targets.

3) you can never have enough RB, but so much depends on your roster construction. If you're going to grab RBs off waivers at this point, they should be a starter with a majority share in a backfield (if they are available for any reason, grab Mason, Crowell, McKinnon etc) or a handcuff on a playoff bound team (Hyde, Starks, Turbin etc). Pretty much every other RB is waiver trash at this point. Guys like Sims will never start for me in the playoffs

4) I tend to go heavy on WR early so I tend to only carry 1 extra, but my bench guys are always higher floor options that I'll hopefully never start. This means I'll take a Jarvis Landry over a Martavis Bryant simply because I hopefully don't have to start them, but if I do it's not TD reliant. I'll take playoff bound players over players on bad teams as well since these final games matter more so there's little chance teams are giving up.

5: there are lots of ways to do waivers but this is how I do it.

They are using 2 TE's more regularly now but when they want to run the ball Hoomanauanoooooie plays more. When it is a pass-heavy gameplan like last week they are playing Wright more. So it depends on the opponent.

I would guess they will try to stay balanced against GB with a tilt towards the run if the weather is bad and if the game is close.

I think what maybe people don't realize is that the 2 te thing was largely bill o'brien as oc, prior to that, and currently, it was mcdaniels, who tended to be more of a 3 wide guy, although hernandez was basically a wr most of the time, so it becomes kind of semantics on 70% of the snaps.

I think wright comes down to just what you're looking for --- the volume is hard to trust, but I think he has 6 td in his last 8 games, which seems pretty consistent, especially if you compare him to scrubstream, like the guy did earlier.

Granted it was a great run. However, that doesn't mean he breaks one of those off every game dude c'mon.

He's facing very tough defenses who are now very well aware f his 90 yard run. This is the NFL. Don't you think they are

game planning against him now that they see he has that ability. Good defenses will hurt even talented young players.

I just don't trust him with 3 of 4 matchups against good defenses.
