Waiver Wire Gems (Week 6 version) (3 Viewers)

Bryant Johnson.

Also, you should make a disclaimer stating that you play in guppie leagues and it's only in those leagues that guys like Washington, Johnson, Herron, Baskett, and Hakim are available because there are apparently some members on here that are far above the level. I hear in one guys league the owners are so good someone just spent his entire bid money on Chuck Rogers!

As a Fitz owner I am targeting Johnson, Baskett, Eric Parker and Hakim this week. Unfortunately I'll probably be about 7th in the waiver order, so I doubt I'll get Johnson.

Basket will see action as long as Stallworth hammy is bothering him and those can linger on.

And he looked good even on the drop.

Here we go again, wake up Woz.Noah Herron is available in MANY leagues. When Morency was dealt to GBay, manyowners dumped Herron as he was 3rd string at the time.now go back to sleep, Woz.

Let me ask you guys this.

I have the number one waiver pick. In a dynasty league.

I own Ahman Green and Fitzgerald.

Who do you pick up? Herron or Johnson?

Dynasty and redraft I'd go B. Johnson over Herron. GB's on a bye next week letting Green get healthy. GB will probably look at the draft next year for RB. Johnson's a great fill for Fitz and was a former #1 draft pick. If he doesn't have value later in Ari, he will elsewhere.

He was being sarcastic, big mex.Matt Leinert was not acquired last week in one of my leagues and in leagues with smaller rosters (that league has 16 spots for 9 starters) and no free agency (in that league, we do all our moves on one day based on priority), he might be there. He looked very good and obviously has tremendous upside.I am putting claims in for some players that were surprisingly dropped last week - Des Clark. Chris Henry. This is the time of year when teams start to cut bait on underproducing players.

Wes Welker
In leagues that allow players to get points for punt/kick returns this guy should have been long gone. Big value with Welker.
I'm in one l;eague where I get 1/10 for return yardage :shock:And a 5-point bonus for going over 100 in any rush/rec. category, including runbacks :eek:Add in a point per reception and the guy could go all year w/o a TD and still finish as a top-10 WR :jawdrop:

I was making a joke in reference to some clown getting all high and mighty in the "waiver wire darling" thread. Of course I don't suggest that Herron should be taken in any "shark" league.

ok - new here but I thought the crown meant Dynasty?

Am I wrong?

None of these guys are available in "most" dynasties but if this is non-dynasty I guess these are solid picks.

Bryant Johnson being #1

I'm in the same boat (lost Fitz and low waiver slot). All of those receivers are free in my league so I should be able to get one of them. Engram and Clayton (Ravens) are also free. I think Kelly Washington could be a good fill-in for someone for 2 weeks.

What about Malcom Floyd in deep leagues?

TD passes in the last 2 weeks, but not many yards.

Guy is 6'5" 210, 25 years old, and could replace V.Jackson as McCardell's replacement?

doesnt matter if its re-draft, keeper, or dynasty...it matters how many owners and how big the rosters are...i play in a 14 man 18 player roster league...we've been playing for 10 years and herron and johnson are available.

Sorry, Woz.I won't be putting in a claimfor him, but with the constant healthproblems of AGreen, he may see someserious action throughout the remainder of the season.Definately worth a spot if you own Ahman Green.

Regarding Chris Henry, if he serves as WR3, will he also serve as Rudi's backup or will that remain Kenny Watson's function? I realize its all speculation at this point, but I would like to get some opinions. If Perry is going to serve double-duty that would make him especially valuable to Johnson owners.

That's what you want if you have a low WW priority number - under the radar and might score like Reggie Bush in a non-PPR.

Esp. good upside in a PPR.

Brian Calhoun. KJ got his bell rung and I haven't seen anything on how bad of a concussion it was. Plus, he wasn't exactly burning it up that game before the injury.

If you're in an IDP league, Mark Anderson would be a good pickup, especially since Ogunleye could be out next week. I just grabbed him in one of my leagues.

M.Barber against the Texans should be a good pickup this week.
Ok, I agree with all the talk that every league is unique and presents it's own challenges and I play in a semi-guppy Yahoo league with short benches were a lot of ww players are available. But, unless your league does not provide any bench spots at all, MBIII should not be available in any league.

I'm usually opposed to these types of posts, but I agree - MBIII should be gone in almost every league imaginable.

Gradkowski may not be a bad plug-in for those who own Manning, Byron, Brady, Favre etal. Especially if your league doesn't punish for INT's. He'll probably put it up 40+ vs. an inconsistant Cincy D. and a Philly team that can give up yds. He can run as well and seems to have already developed some chemistry with Galloway and Smith.

I'm trying to figure out why Marion Barber is a must own player? Julius looks good, gets all the touches, and Barber rarely looks good on the field.

So which WR do you go after first, Bryant Johnson or Hank Baskett?

I think BJ...I'm also curious, for larger leagues, if Troy Walters is worth a spot. The byes are plentiful the next few weeks, the Cards will pass plenty...maybe someone worth checking in on.

Johnson in less than a heartbeat if you need short term upper level production.Baskett if you need a guy for the rest of the year.

1) Cowboys will run the ball over 500 times this year.2) JJones is injury prone and Parcells loves MBIII - instant starter. Same reason Turner is a must own even if you don't have LT.3) He's averaged over 10 standard FPs per game the last three games. A 10 FP a game scorer should be on no leagues' WW. Even in TD only leagues, he has one per game the last three games.Edit to add:
Julius looks good

He is free in my league as well. We have a limit of 4 RB's per team and we are only required to start 1 (flex league). Rostered backs on the 12 teams are:Caddy, Edge, Jones-DrewTiki, J.Jones, C.TaylorS.Jackson, Rhodes, Maroney, JacobsDunn, Betts, MorenceyL.Jordan, Fast Willie, M.Morris, M.TurnerR.Brown, T.BellLJ, Westbrook, K.Jones, A.GreenDeuce, Droughns, BarlowMcGahee, T.Jones, F.TaylorAlexander, Portis, M.Bell (my team)Rudi, Foster, Addai, BushLT, Dillon, Gore, D.WilliamsI think the J.Jones owner should have him for back-up, but considering we only need 1 RB I can see how most owners would prefer a starter over a back-up. That's not even considering other issues such as players being hurt, bye weeks, etc. For example, two of my receivers are on bye this week (Wayne & Driver), one is hurt (Fitz) and SA is hurt. Does it make more sense for me to roster WR's, or choose a back-up RB when I only have to start 1?Plus, he is not owned in 26% of the fanball leagues.

Tough call. I'm going to say Johnson by a hair. Remember that we have the old "backup QB bonding with the #3 WR" syndrome going on here - - that was seriously on display yesterday. Also, Johnson was starting to assert himself a bit even with Fitz in the lineup. Now, with Larry on the shelf for a while and possibly gimpy for the rest of the season a la Hines Ward, I can see Johnson getting some real attention from Leinart. Baskett certainly looked good yesterday, but McNabb is the king of spreading it around, so I'm not sure you can count on any of the Eagles' WRs to produce consistently. Fox showed the key graphic yesterday during the broadcast - - someone different has led PHI in receiving in each of their games. One thing you CAN count on is that Stallworth will be pretty much useless for the rest of the season, but I don't know that Baskett can be counted on to capitalize on that. Also, the Eagles' sked toughens a bit AND that secondary performance by Dallas yesterday was one of the five or so worst by any NFL team this season. One last note: in dynasty, I think Johnson is real gold.

Rostered backs on the 12 teams are:

Caddy, Edge, Jones-Drew

Tiki, J.Jones, C.Taylor

S.Jackson, Rhodes, Maroney, Jacobs

Dunn, Betts, Morencey

L.Jordan, Fast Willie, M.Morris, M.Turner

R.Brown, T.Bell

LJ, Westbrook, K.Jones, A.Green

Deuce, Droughns, Barlow

McGahee, T.Jones, F.Taylor

Alexander, Portis, M.Bell (my team)

Rudi, Foster, Addai, Bush

LT, Dillon, Gore, D.Williams

I think the J.Jones owner should have him for back-up, but considering we only need 1 RB I can see how most owners would prefer a starter over a back-up. That's not even considering other issues such as players being hurt, bye weeks, etc. For example, two of my receivers are on bye this week (Wayne & Driver), one is hurt (Fitz) and SA is hurt. I'd have Barber over every RB bolded - including Reggie Bush in a non-PPR (and I'm about the biggest Bush :drive: as there is). Bush is gold in a PPR.
