Waiver Wire Pickups - Heading into Week 9 (1 Viewer)

A couple of QB candidates for those getting desperate with Mariota, Walker and Heineke putting in decent showings.

The biggest pickup this week has to be Isaiah Likely though. If Andrews misses any time, he's a huge get. Hard to tell how long he'll be valuable though.

Toughest part about figuring out Likely’s value is that BAL has their bye in week 10. From all indications, Andrews’ injury doesn’t appear to be too serious. So, “best” case looks like a 1-week start in week 9 and injury upside.

Which means if I wanna grab him, I’m likely rostering 2-3 TE’s. Which I’m just not sure I can do.

Baltimore also plays on Monday night, so there's a decent chance you won't get clarity on Andrews/Gus/Bateman before the Sunday games. I'm not saying don't grab Likely or Drake, but just pointing out it might be a hard situation to read on Sunday.

Would like to get Likely (as I have Andrews)...but just don't think I can do it.
Have to replace Dallas D (while keeping them the rest of the year)...and possibly pick up a different TE to cover the Ravens bye the next week (Everett was dropped for his bye, so he will likely be my play the next two weeks if I can get him).

Toure Toure Toure...just 1 catch for a TD but he's a rookie and they have a big vacuum at WR right now
Doesn't look like they can figure out a package for Claypool and they simply must not want him long term there.

Foreman 66% rostered already
Allgheier 55% rostered already
Drake 18% rostered already
Murray 32% rostered already

Rondale Moore
Duverney
Darnell Mooney 72% rostered but if there, should grab him, bears and Fields warming up on offense.

Evan Engram under 30% rostered @BobbyLayne has been instrumental in pointing out that we are looking for TEs that can be No 2 in targets behind a WR. Case in point, Ertz has benefitted much of the season by being one of the only available WR/TE for Murray week in and week out. The vacuum most weeks of not having a solid WR2 for AZ has been filled in ways by Ertz who is running Top 3-5 much of the season despite not having very many BIG GAMES, consistently solid is how I would describe him. Engram is moving into that space.

Seattle Seahawks...they never got the memo they were suppose to be terrible this season and Pete Carroll starting to become a candidate for Coach of the Year, IMO

I wouldn't touch Toure. The Packers offense is not going to be consistent.

Doesn't matter, people will ignore that Rodgers has yet to have a week better than QB14. If it's Packers WR with a pulse people will roster them.

This week would be a great week to play any Packers offensive player. Ain't no way ARod won't be a QB1 vs Detroit. They have no answers on defense rn.

True..if any week you have to rely on him or that offense…this may be the week. Also fire up anyone in the Detroit running game because GB cant stop anyone on the ground.

Two teams might have 400 yards combined rushing yards. All 4 guys s/b RB2-RB3 options. O/U probably come in around 53.5 lol (I haven’t looked to see if anyone sets an early line.)

Maybe, but Darnell Moore would be the perfect WR - hakf burner, half route runner, CHAMPIONSHIP! Oh, wait, QBs, nm…

Let's not forget that this is a crazy bye week, so your focus will likely be on one-week fill-ins at the expense of upside guys. Agree that Likely is very high risk, high reward. (Also, NO is a tough TE matchup -- second fewest FPA to the position.)

Anyone buying on Byrd, Mack Hollins, Slayton or DeMarcus Robinson (if Bateman/Andrews sit) as plug-and-play options? I don't think any of them are particularly good, but could be a dart throw for one week.

It's A.J. time. At least this week when he's playing the Lions.

Packers single records in play:

Rushing yards, 218 (Ahmed Green)
TDs, 4 (Jim Taylor & others)

For those with Kittle, 'Muth or anyone else on bye (or just scuffling at the position), what are we thinking for TE streamers this week? Here are the options in my PPR league:
  • Henry vs Ind
  • LThomas vs Minn
  • Dissly/Fant @ Ari (great matchup, but which one will get fed?)
  • Juwan vs Balt
  • Brate/Otton vs LAR
I had picked up Thomas before yesterday's game, but obviously that goose egg didn't boost my confidence in streaming him. Not clear he's fully healthy

yeah I’d be out on Logan as well

Johnson gets RZ looks - good as any other TE streamer

I feel your pain. Made some aggressive moves last week to acquire Dulcich & Engram - naturally Schultz goes fm limited all week (aggravated his PCL a third time) to his most productive week. He was just waiting for me to finally give up on him lol.

Currently 49.5. Highest of the week though.

A couple of QB candidates for those getting desperate with Mariota, Walker and Heineke putting in decent showings.
Thoughts on Walker assuming he keeps the job even when Baker and Darnold are healthy? He's done well the past few games and have to think he'll face some negative game scripts going forward, but there's a reason he has been a backup all these years and doesn't seem to offer much rushing upside.

In my SF league, the cupboard is pretty bare with the only starters available are Walker, Z. Wilson, M. Jones, Mills and Tannehill. I have Carr as my QB2 alongside Allen, but Carr has been really disappointing.

Of that group, I'd take a healthy Tannenhill or Carr first despite the disappointment. Walker though has shown something the last few weeks and still has DJ Moore and a motivated Foreman.

Thanks - I'm not dropping Carr but may pick up Walker as my QB3 that may slide into QB2 if Carr and the Raiders don't figure things out.

What about LAR RB Ronnie Rivers? 8 Carries 21 yards and 4 targets/4 rec 15 yards ... not impressive, but clear opportunity growing...
Unless LAR gets Hunt, the RB role is still not settled ... but again, the OL is a mess so value is extremely limited.

Dropping Bateman with this latest injury news; anytime guys have foot injuries and the return timeline keeps extending, it's time to hop off. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he doesn't play again this year.

Options available on WW in my 0.5 PPR league (prioritizing guys I can start this week over long-term stashes)
  • CSamuel (tailed off since hot start)
  • Lazard (if he's healthy, probably top option. But is he?)
  • Mack Hollins
  • APierce
  • Pickens
  • Rondale (Hopkins seems to have opened up the offense, but still not sure I trust him)
  • Mooney (probably safest floor)

Kyren Williams also back this week I believe? Who’s the better RB of those two? Then if Akers doesn’t get traded, ugh.

Kalif Raymond has quietly put up 3-76 on 4 targets vs Dolphins yesterday. That’s on the heels of 5-45 vs Pats and 5-75 vs Cowboys. 50 + snaps (85-90% each week) & 30 + routes run in their last 3 games, his role as the starting outside WR opposite Josh Reynolds will remain unchanged.

GB is giving up the 2nd fewest passing yards (174.8 /g), 5th fewest FF PPR pts to WRs. Tough matchup but he torched them for 4-101-1 in the Lions win over the Packers at home last year.

Baltimore Defense

Good against the run, terrible v pass, 2nd in takeaways with 15 and just added Roquan Smith.

Their schedule after the bye
CAR
@Jax
DEN
@PIT
@CLE (12/18)
ATL
PIT
@CIN (Week 18)

Very good SOS ROS, if you think that is predictive; only two avoid matchups (+ bye.) Good ying yang IMO, pair with another.

Low ceiling IMO. Have given up 20 or more in 6 of 8 games, 28th in yards allowed. Smith will help. Top ten in Sacks, INT and FUM REC so def potential to wreak havoc. DT12 so far.

We will know tomorrow if the Rams get Hunt or someone else and whether they keep Akers. Either way, I would expect someone else to start, but Rivers may be worth something as they definitely seem to think Henderson is worthless. Malcom Brown is there also. Murky waters for sure.

Doubs or Mooney? Both are available in my league.
I like Mooney since the Bears gutted the D. There will be a lot of games like the Dallas shootout for him, and thr added bonus of Detroit 2X.

It's not like the Bears were shutting opponents down anyways...the Roquan loss sucks for them but they've given up like 170 points already. Maybe they give up 1-2 pig more without Roquan but I don't think Mooney changes much at all unless the offense significantly improves in passing volume. They seem to be where they want to be right now with the attempts and the weapons they have.

Mooney's basically waiver fodder but maybe I'm wrong.

He has 50+ yards in his last 5 games and these games should be a lot of garbage yards. Their D is so bad now, it should be like a sandlot game. Fields is playing better also. I have both Mooney and Doubs, Doubs is so hit and miss. Doubs is a must start vs Detroit this week also. Detroit and Chicago are the two worst D’s now.

Watch status of K Williams as the backfield in LA is not impressive by any means.

Edit: And the potential add of a K Hunt.

Rams' Kyren Williams: Could return from IR for Week 9

12 hrs ago | by RotoWire Staff
Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Williams (ankle) may be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Williams has been recovering from a high-ankle sprain that he sustained Week 1 and resided on IR since then. After the Rams designated him to return last Wednesday, he managed a pregame workout before this past Sunday's loss to the 49ers. With Cam Akers (personal) on the trade block, the composition of L.A.'s backfield is up in the air at the moment, with all of Darrell Henderson, Malcolm Brown and practice squad member Ronnie Rivers getting in the mix Week 8. If Williams is able to join them Week 9, he could play an immediate role on passing downs.

Yep. That "shootout" on Sunday where they fell way behind early and stayed there all game resulted in a whopping 24 pass attempts (vs. 43 rush attempts) and 5 targets for Mooney.

I think he's worth a roster spot (in most leagues) and the upcoming schedule is sweet but game script simply doesn't matter with this team.
