Waiver Wire Pickups - Heading into Week 9 (1 Viewer)

Depends on how deep your league is but Terrace Marshall and James Cook had career days

RB James Cook

This was so new from Cook. In the first half, he played nearly, if not all, of the Bills’ entire third touchdown drive late in the second quarter. Cook rattled off runs of 17, four, and seven yards on that drive. That, alone, was an encouraging development for the second-round pick who had not been asked to touch the ball in non-garbage time in multiple weeks. Cook later had a 41-yard reception in the second half.

Cook might be headed towards more touches with what he did on Sunday night against a very tough defense. Zack Moss continues to not touch the football. Cook only played 15 snaps on Sunday, but the way he was utilized was what stood out in a big way. Cook performed very well in limited action.

Doubs or Mooney? Both are available in my league.
I like Mooney since the Bears gutted the D. There will be a lot of games like the Dallas shootout for him, and thr added bonus of Detroit 2X.

It's not like the Bears were shutting opponents down anyways...the Roquan loss sucks for them but they've given up like 170 points already. Maybe they give up 1-2 pig more without Roquan but I don't think Mooney changes much at all unless the offense significantly improves in passing volume. They seem to be where they want to be right now with the attempts and the weapons they have.

Mooney's basically waiver fodder but maybe I'm wrong.
It's a fair point. Roquan leads the league in tackles, this is a big blow to the Bears run D (and morale). Teams will be able to control the clock much better v the Bears today.

Still Mooney is making plays on limited touches and there isn't much else out there.

The problem with Cook is Buffalo is a low volume offense for RBs in general and Singletary is getting the lion's share, which amounts to about 14 opportunities per game. Even if he goes down to 10 opps/game it still doesn't leave much for Cook to cook.

Absolutely agree. Ceiling is capped. Where you would hope he can make up for the low rush numbers is in TDs but especially in being a pass catching option that Singletary can’t provide.

Does the trade to the Bears improve Claypool's value? He's available in one of my leagues. A few weeks ago I would have said it wasn't a QB/offense upgrade, but Chicago seems to have figured some things out. And obviously there's more opportunity now that he's gone from competing with Diontae and Pickens to Mooney and ... um, Pettis?

I would think so…big target and can get downfield… strong arm quarterback but currently doesn’t throw a lot.

He won’t have competition to be on the field but Chicago hasn’t been passing much. Maybe it’s a slight upgrade

Ok maybe silly dynasty question, but is it time to pick up Drew Lock? I know Geno is having a season and I have him in one of my leagues, but I have some dart throw room in the other league. Worth a consideration for potential opportunity?

No. Geno is cooking. Should've had 3 TDs last week.

No.

Let Geno Cook

Chase Edmonds if it isn't obvious and also i think Jeff Wilson is well worth adding, Raheem Mostert could easily be injured at any time, Wilson too for that matter but Miami would be wise to lighten the load for Mostert and keep him healthy and ready to roll as they make a Playoff push.

Denver RB1 is within range for Chase Edmonds, Murray is 32 yrs old, use your head. Denver is not happy with MG3 and the coach is fighting for his job early in his career, they can't risk fumbles with Gordon, I expect Chase to slowly take over and quickly find his way to the top of the stats box for Denver RBs.

I've been wrong before but this has real potential and worthy of your RB5 at the end of the bench.

Right now, as in last week picking up Gordon for free FA as a next best back, I'd still prefer Gordon over Edmunds at this point in time. Dropped a flyer on Pacheco for Gordon. We shall see... Gordon may or may not see my starting lineup. DEN RB situation seems like a stay away, maybe that TE though. Gordon is my RB #4 at the moment through the bye week. Nothing to write home about, just a player who has a knack to score a TD and get you 50 yards.

Need a Flex WR w/ Dallas (Pollard/CD) on a Bye

My waiver wire Options:
Alec Pierce @ New England
T Marshall JR @ Cincy
M Jones jr vs Vegas
D Carter @ Atlanta
Renfrow @ Jax

Any thoughts on this tier??

Thoughts on Nico Collins as a stash?

Really seemed to be coming on before his groin injury. Not sure how long he’ll be out, but could be valuable once he returns and if Cooks remains unhappy.

For dynasty I like him as a stash, redraft I’d leave on the wire. Has the measurables you want from a potential alpha WR and has shown signs of life this season. Just not sure he’ll be startable until the Texans upgrade from Mills at QB.

Cooks didnt practice again today and Collins is out. IF Cooks is held out that leaves Moore and Dorsett .....and maybe Burkhead to catch passes. SOMEBODY would have to be FF relevant in garbage time vs Philly right? Im guessing Dorsett>>>>> Burkhead>>>>>>> Moore Also think Robert Woods has a shot at a good game this week vs KC

Waivers ran and as typical unless I really believe I can secure someone, I like to see what others cut and be ready for anyone that fell thru the cracks I can snatch at 8am tomorrow

QB: I have Burrow and Lawrence, thought about cutting Lawrence for Fields who is still available and has a Week 10 showdown with Detroit when Burrow is on the bye. Lawrence will play KC that same week and they aren't all that good in pass defense, like 2nd worst I was reading.

RB: My RB4 and RB5 are Robinson in Washington and Jeff Wilson who was once a starter and now is in Miami. Not much available honestly. Hines, Edmonds and Cook are perhaps the biggest names, not sure any of them are a true upgrade right now.

WR: Nobody I would want ahead of my last guy on the bench-WR6 which right now is Claypool, easy pass for me.

TE: Is Gesicki better than say Gerald Everett going forward? Everett is Top 10 on the season and likely is the No 2 in the passing game if Mike Williams misses time. Ertz/Everett combo so far has been great, love Gesicki but they just don't target him frequently enough, but when he hits he's gold.

Low point of the season for waivers, seems like everything has been picked over, anyone you find you likely are putting back in a week or two, maybe that's just how bye weeks roll.

I dont understand a league allowing pickups of players who havent cleared waivers. A few hours after waivers ran isnt sufficient time for everybody in the league to know what players are available for FCFS pickups imo. So are the players who were dropped through FCFS now available in a few hours as well? Seems an odd way to do things to me.

Good question
-Waivers run 11pm Wed Night, anyone released is "protected" for 24 hours
-I'm talking anyone who was not taken more so than anyone released but i do like to target players that others release....picked up RS and Pollard when apparently their original investors had reached a low point and I grabbed them as soon as we allow for it.

But that also means I had to make a cut or release in order to get those guys and I make bad moves like everyone else. I had Harris and cut him for RS before Stevenson started going off, that was a tough pill the first week when Harris ascended into Top 15-20 status. Nobody remembers that right now. I was laughed at in my leagues letting Harris go for RS when Harris was on top at the time...and he still might get his starting job back despite how well RS is doing.

Thanks for wanting clarity and I actually am responsible for the "protected" rule. One year a guy cut Galloway Week 1...you can look it up buy Joey Galloway bagel'd Week 1(went on to his usual 1,000+ yd season) and overreaction guy cut him so I quickly grabbed him at the stroke of midnight and that was the end of FCFS without a chance to fully digest what happened on Waivers.

Cheers!

Mildly like Terrace Marshall Jr, think its possible he breaks out in second half. Just a matter if someone can get him the ball, which is up in the air for sure.

Let's not forget that this is a crazy bye week, so your focus will likely be on one-week fill-ins at the expense of upside guys. Agree that Likely is very high risk, high reward. (Also, NO is a tough TE matchup -- second fewest FPA to the position.)

Anyone buying on Byrd, Mack Hollins, Slayton or DeMarcus Robinson (if Bateman/Andrews sit) as plug-and-play options? I don't think any of them are particularly good, but could be a dart throw for one week.
I think DeMarcus Robinson is kind of a nice long shot because he might get a bunch of targets, or he could break one big one in that offense.

I ended up adding Likely. My feeling is, all I need is a good bye-week fill in for Kittle. All the other options are basically zero-floor, whereas Likely at least has massive upside if Andrews sits.

Worst case, Andrews is announced as in on Monday afternoon, and I have to pivot to Juwan Johnson, who’s no better or worse than any other options. If I know by Sunday that Andrews is playing, maybe I can grab one if the Seattle TEs (probably Fant) for the Arizona matchup
