Waiver Wire QBs (1 Viewer)

Here is a list of starting QBs who might be on the waiver wire, based upon their performance so far:

Jason Campbell

Donovan McNabb

Kurt Warner

Steve McNair

Trent Edwards

Trent Dilfer

Gus Ferotte

Brian Griese

Kelly Holcomb

Jeff Garcia

David Carr

Damon Huard

Daunte Culpepper

David Gerard

I'm probably missing somebody. Is there anyone on this list that might be gold for the 2nd half? I hear a lot of talk about Warner, but he's so injury prone that scares me. Please give me your thoughts!

Croyle will be starting in KC this week, and I think there's a good chance he keeps the job all year. they really wanted him to win the job in camp, so now that he has it they might let him run with it. I'm not saying that he's going to be great, but he's most likely available.

I'm trying to avoid being one of those a-holes who answers questions like this with some crap like, "I wish I could play in your guppie league!" but you did list almost half of the starting QBs in the league.

Just saying...

To answer your question, I can't imagine any league where I wouldn't go and get Campbell and/or Warner and/or McNabb if they are sitting on the wire.

Based on your list and my opinion:

Tier 1 = QB1's

1. Donovan McNabb

2. Kurt Warner

Tier 2 = QB2's

3. Jason Campbell (could end up a Tier higher)

4. Garrard

5. Garcia

6. Griese

7. Culpepper (high-risk, high-reward)

Tier 3 = QB3's (waiver wire, watch and see)

8. Trent Edwards

9. Steve McNair (you could move him up to 7. He's just been thoroughly unimpressive for the last year & a half)

9. David Carr (ranking him behind a rookie shows how little faith i have)

10. Brodie Croyle

Tier 4 (waiver wire QB's )

11. Trent Dilfer

12. Gus Ferotte

13. Kelly Holcomb

14. Damon Huard

You still Put McNabb at #1 on this list? He's looked soooo bad in 2 of of the last three weeks! You still trust him?

I'm sure I'm not alone, but I can't fathom him being on the wire. The easy #1 QB on this list IMO.If you're that concerned, start him at home/bench on the road. Was w/o Thomas and Westbrook vs. Giants. (I'm not going to blame him for Reid's lack of adjustments). I don't own him in any league, but I'd have no problem having him as my QB1. (Is he sit-worthy in tough road starts? Possibly)

Why don't you tell us how you would like us to rank them.

he said they might be on the wire. i don't think he meant they would all be on the wire. in my leagues a few of these guys are FA.

Quite a nasty reply! Rather than rank these guys, I was sort of wondering if there was someone out there who was a diamond in the rough sort. Forgive me if this was some stupid question to ask!

Valid point that I might have missed.

Honestly, it's a tough call between Campbell and Warner.

With Warner, it's hard to forget how brutal he looked last year. Campbell provides a lot more health and stability, but his numbers won't likely be as good as Warner's *could* be if he continues to play as he has.

Problem is, once Warner gets game planned for and once he starts to take serious hits, does he go into a shell a little?

Those are the two intriguing guys to me.

Jason Campbell-yes, he's good

Donovan McNabb-shouldn't be on the wire. still has andy "i hate running the ball" reid for a coach

Kurt Warner-great upside

Steve McNair-wouldn't touch.

Trent Edwards-wouldn't touch, but wouldn't be surprised if he's decent

Trent Dilfer-wouldn't touch

Gus Ferotte-nice upside here

Brian Griese-not pretty, but could throw some decent games together

Kelly Holcomb-ahhhh?

Jeff Garcia-i like him alot. low grade starter with upside

David Carr-wouldn't touch

Damon Huard-wouldn't touch

Daunte Culpepper-i have no idea, but i guess he has upside

David Gerard-solid bye week guy and probably pretty safe

The thing is, the line just couldn't block last year which hinders Warner and his lack of mobility. I think he's worth a WW shot. Zona's line seems much improved this year.

1) Donovan McNabb

2) Jason Campbell

3) Kurt Warner

4) Daunte Culpepper

5) Brian Griese

6) David Garrard

7) Gus Frerotte

8) Jeff Garcia

9) David Carr

10) Steve McNair

11) Trent Edwards

12) Kelly Holcomb

13) Trent Dilfer

14) Damon Huard

Really, if all those guys are available, though, you shouldn't be thinking past the Top 5 on that list.

I agree in principle. While teams may adjust to send more pressure and rattle him, they have to respect the run this year (unlike last year). That alone helps a lot. The line does seem better, and the weapons are there.

:goodposting: Only on a 8 team league could I see him being on the WW.With Westy in he will get his numbers. You just have to have a backup QB you can play on the weeks he is facing a tough D or Westy will be out.

While I have not seen Donovan McNabb and Jason Campbell available on the WW in most leagues, there is one QB who is that has an awful lot of upside.

What are people's opinions of Marc Bulger the rest of the way? Even though they put in Frerotte, I can't imagine they won't go back to their 65 million dollar QB once his ribs heal. For me, the bigger question is can STL operate their offense behind a rag-tag collection of o-linemen? While hobody knows the answer to that question for sure, I like Bulger's chances a lot better than some of the other QBs being discussed in this thread.

Agree. I haven't dropped him, and seriously consider picking up Frerotte. The situation is one where they will HAVE to throw a lot, have some good receiving options, and have a pretty good schedule. With broken ribs, you know it's just a matter of time for them to heal. Not like an elbow, shoulder, knee injury. Bulger WILL be back starting when he's healthy, and the oline did pretty well against a pretty tough ARI team. We'll see...
