Waiver wire running backs (1 Viewer)

There are a ton of waiver wire running backs available right now it seems in many leagues (judging by ownership percentage in ESPN and CBS leagues).

With the current play of guys like Joseph Addai, McFadden/Fargas, Barber, Jones-Drew, McGahee, Ryan Grant, Julius Jones, and afew others, teams are scrambling for waiver wire runners. Who are you guys targeting first?

We have guys like Ray Rice, Jamaal Charles, Ryan Torain, Kevin Smith, Ben-Javarus Green Ellis, Cedric Benson, and Leon Washington available in 20-50% of both ESPN and CBS leagues. Who are guys counting on for big performances here on out? Who should be owned and who should be left on the wire?

Out of the group you mentioned, I like Benson and Torrain. Benson should have been picked up but since he's on your wire, get him. He's emerged as the No. 1 in cinci and my top choice for now.

Who are you targeting?
Me personally - I think they all have upside and wish my roster had a limit of 20, instead of 14. However, I was just going off of availability. The only other guy who I would consider an "emergence" is Tim Hightower, but he is already owned in 92% of leagues so I did not include him. Really, I was just looking for some discussion. I think it is a tough choice between guys like Ryan Torain, Cedric Benson, Ray Rice, and Jamaal Charles because all four teams are running teams. Shanahan loves to run the ball, Cinci needs to run the ball with Fitzpatrick at QB, the Ravens love to run the ball and need to take pressure off of Flacco, and KC has been devoted to the run game for the last 6 years. I did not watch any of them play yesterday so I personally do not know how any of them looked. Please feel free to chime in.

This is how I have my WW picks ordered right now:

1. Torain

2. Charles

3. Young

4. Sammy Morris (kind of dropped and forgotten in my league and he's hanging out there)

5. Rice (McGahee's still going to be playing and starting when healthy, right???)

6. Ward

--- I have not settled on this order, waiting to see who gets named the starter in DEN (does that matter though?) and whether LJ has any hints of coming back after this week. In bad need of RB's, with SJax, Faulk, Len White, LJ, and A. Pittman being all I have on my roster. Hightower was wisely picked up by someone else long ago, might try to trade for him though. Benson is gone, but I just don't trust the guy and passed on him.

Benson has Philly / Pit / and Balt coming up on his Schedule!! Im preparing to drop him and will try to pick up Charles?? Or maybe a WR?

That is why i dumped Benson last week...figured against Jax he'd be stuck in the mud as well....no regrets since I wouldn't have played him anyway. I'll be surprised if he can put another day like that together.

I am seriously considering dropping McGahee for Torain, Jonathan Stewart or Charles. McGahee is probably the better talent but you just cant rely on that with the Ravens doing what they did. Who knows when he will play or not?

Do you guys have an order for the guys I mentioned?

I dropped C-Buck for R. Rice. McGahee is missing more time than I thought he would and Rice has proven more than capable when filling in. No reason for BAL to not give Rice more carries to try and lengthen McGahee's availability.

I scooped up Faulk and Torain for this week (MBIII's bye) and have to decide between the two. Leaning Faulk bc of PPR.

Torain, if he can do well now, may be the biggest steal.

Charles, if he does well, may be a good few week play.

Faulk, good in PPR leagues, don't expect monster weeks.

- Torain has both a good schedule and maybe the best situation. The starting job is basically his if he can keep it and his schedule looks pretty nice until Carolina in week 15.

- Rice is looking real good but McGahee is still there. Also his schedule is somewhat tougher as he must face the likes of NYG, PHI, WAS, PIT. He does get HOU this week, CIN week 13 and DAL in week 16.

- Charles may have the best schedule but will he start? LJ comes off suspension this week. What will his role be?

- Benson's is on bye this week but his next 3 games are PHI, @PIT, BAL. Do you really want to pick up Benson?

- Ward is ok in PPR. Otherwise he's a crapshoot every week.

 But, where is Peyton Hillis in all this?

In my 12 teamer, we have huge rosters and all those guys are taken. Someone dropped Fargas and I already own Bush and McFadden, so I put a waiver on him. If I do not get him I am in trouble and have to hope Graham and Gore continue to excel. I was asleep at the wheel since I lost Colston and ignored RBs for WR help the last few weeks.

If Torian does not play well, what about the RB for Denver, Peyton Hillis? Is he technically a FB? He seems to be $$$ in PPR.

I own Torain and I am trying to decide whether I should drop Desean Jackson and pickup either Young or Rice at rb.
